Character Interview: US Marshal Brandon Worth

Marshal Worth, welcome to the Lounge?

Thank you for having me.

We talked to your partner, Marshal Erin, but can you tell us about life as a Marshal?

I'm part of a fugitive recovery task force. Our job is to hunt down escaped fugitives and return them to custody. Lots of time on the road, long hours, running...

So, you have to be in great shape, I imagine.

In my line of work, there's no room for slackers.

About the Burrows case; have you ever had to track a serial killer?

No. This was a first for me.

We heard you were working with an FBI profiler. Do you often work with other law enforcement agencies?

Yes. We usually coordinate with local police so we don't step on their toes when we're in their jurisdiction. Also, we typically need their support like we did on the Burrows case.

There was a local event--

A farmer's market, yes.

A farmer's market that happened while you were in town. Does something like that hinder your ability to track?

It definitely can. You would think looking for one person in a small town would be easy, but not when people pour in from all over the state; it complicates issues.

Speaking of possible complications...the FBI profiler you were working with is beautiful. I'm sure in your line of work, it could be difficult to meet people--

(Visibly frustrated) We're not talking about that.

Marshal Erin hinted--

Marshal Erin is a dead man.

Um, well, thank you for visiting the Lounge. I'm sure you have plenty of work to do.

Thank you.

Have a great weekend everyone!

GIVEAWAY

Happy Friday Everyone!
(*Now it's Sunday; don't know why Goodreads didn't upload my blog post.)

Today I'm doing a FREE giveaway of my debut release, Serial Games. All I ask is for a comment from today through Sunday. Tell me how you are doing? What are your plans for the weekend? Let's have a conversation. On Monday I'll announce the winner!!

Next Friday, I hope to catch up with US Marshal Brandon Worth. I'd like to ask him how he liked working with the FBI *wink*.

I hope you enjoy the read and if you can, please post a review. :) I've added a 'Reviews' tab at the top of my blog where you can read what others have said about Serial Games.

My parents are in town this week and we've eaten out almost everyday of the week. Today, we'll meet up with my little brother for YET ANOTHER dine out session. Needless to say, my stomach has had it! I'm going to have to go on a liquid fast from Saturday through Monday before I hit that Weight Watchers scale, LOL. Weight Watchers works; TRUST ME.

This weekend, I'll be glued to my computer as I continue working on two WIPs (work in progress). One is book two in the Virginia Justice Series and the other is a zombie romantic suspense (the romance isn't between zombies--just clearing that up).

If you are reading this through Goodreads, you can participate too! Leave a comment there and I'll add you to the pot.

Have a great weekend everyone!!!

REVIEW WEDNESDAY: COURTING THE ENEMY

I have to say, I LOVE reading Renee Ryan. Courting the Enemy is her second Love Inspired Historical I've read, set during World War II. I'm fascinated by that period of history and because of the prevalent Nazi threat we knew (or learned of) so well, the story has instant suspense. In this particular story, OSS agent Trent Mueller's mission is to discover the US industrial target of a Nazi attack. In order to do so, he must stay close to a known sympathizer--by courting his recently widowed daughter.

Renee Ryan's male characters are such HUNKS. Kind, sensitive, gentlemanly--and before this sounds too womanly--strong, untouchable so they fall in love hard, intelligent, driven...the list goes on. I want to be the heroine in this book! Her female leads aren't half bad either. They have their own inner strength, and they're not flighty or just plain dumb.

Ms. Ryan keeps the hero and the heroine together often, exploring each others' strengths and vulnerabilities, allowing the characters--and the readers--to know one another. You are drawn in immediately and you are invested in the lives of her characters. I could read romance novels set in this time period all day long. Her story is loosely based on real-life events--and that is an incredible piece of history. I can't wait for her next WWII romance!

REVIEW WEDNESDAY: LOVE ON THE RANGE

I'M BACK!

Sorry for the absence, but my last computer met with an unfortunate demise. I have a new MacBook Pro and I'm ready to go!

I've recently finished debut author Jessica Nelson's recently released Love Inspired Historical, Love on the Range . Set during the flu epidemic of the early 1900's, a young socialite sets out for the West to make a name for herself by finding an elusive lawman, Striker, to interview. She hopes by securing an exclusive with the man both rumored to be a child-killer and the savior of kidnapped women, she would earn a position at a prominent paper and live her life as she pleased, instead of marrying a complete bore at the request of her parents.

I thought Jessica's voice was quite fresh, the pacing of her scenes just right (except the almost-kissing scenes--you really could have dragged those out, for my sake), and her hero appropriately hunky. In fact, the thing I liked most about this book was the hero. Most everything he said was summed up in five words or less, which I thought was quite funny. The heroine would be blabbing and she'd ask a question and get a "Yep" or a shrug, or scowl...okay that might be a bit of an exaggeration, but it made him real country-like and a stark contrast to her Boston upbringing. He seemed to have a slight temper too, which I thought added a bit more depth to his character. All male heroes can't be patient and understanding all the time, right? Don't worry; it never got out of hand.

I also enjoyed the history that was woven into the plot. The influenza epidemic that was killing people off by the truckloads, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation were both quite interesting elements. I hadn't realized the Bureau was established as such that early in history. It's always fun when you learn something new from a fiction book!

I'm sure we'll be seeing more titles from Ms. Nelson!

SHADOW KISSES MEME

This weeks question:Do you admire your own work?

Answer: I'd have to say, yeah, I do admire my work! LOLEspecially after setting aside the first draft or two, when I return to it at a much later date, I find myself laughing andsighing and even giggling like a schoolgirl and I'm amazedthat I wrote it!

What is a Meme? A meme is a weekly event hosted by blogs to help engage and get to know other readers and bloggers. The purpose is to help connect the online community. I am participating in book reviewer, Shadow Kisses, meme this week. Do you admire your work?

SERIAL GAMES CHARACTER INTERVIEW: SPECIAL AGENT SARA DECKKER

Welcome to the Lounge, Agent Deckker!

Thank you for having me.

Can you answer a few questions for us?

If I am able to. But I must caution you that I'm not able to reveal any information about ongoing cases.

Um, okay. Can you tell us how you became an agent with the FBI?

In addition to receiving my Bachelors, I've completed extracurricular activities that made me a competitive candidate for the position as agent.

What is your favorite part of the job?

Why does anyone become a law enforcement officer? To catch criminals. That's what I enjoy most.

What is the hardest part of the job?

The paperwork. Definitely. It takes time away from being on the streets. However, without detailed reports, the defendants could be acquitted on technicalities and I don't want that on my conscience, so I make sure my reports are complete.

We heard you were on a case of an escaped serial killer. What can you tell us about it?

Nothing.

Nothing? How about--

As I said before, I can't speak on an active case.

Can you tell us how one would go about catching a serial killer?

I'm not at liberty to discuss this case.

Well, um, thank you for visiting the Lounge, Agent Deckker. I'm sure you're very busy.

Yes, I am. But I'm happy to take part in community relations.

Thank you.

Serial Games is available NOW! 5 Star reviews on Amazon and Barnes and Noble. Also available in other formats on Desert Breeze Publishing's website.
