A baby is born!
My new book "Under Dark Waters" is out. I`m excited – and nervous at the same time: Will the readers like it as much as I do? How will it be received?
In the meantime, I`ve written another book, the working title is "Stormy Cove". It`ll be published next year with AmazonCrossing. It is a mystery novel that takes place on the rugged, beautiful island of Newfoundland. And I`m working on a new mystery novel. But to root for my latest baby is a nice break and hopefully will give me the opportunity to get in touch with some of my readers!
In the meantime, I try to walk a lot. Not only for pedestrian but also for literary reasons...
Some authors know exactly what will be in every chapter of their book before they even start it. I don`t - I like to be surprised. I have a general idea where the book is going but apart from that, anything can happen really. And I think it`s great when you, as a writer, are curious what the outcome of your story will be. Sometimes, I get stuck and have to rethink my plot and make adjustments. To sort things out - and air my head - it always helps to go for a walk. Somehow the feet and the movement of your body connect to the brain, and ideas are coming in unexpected ways. It`s almost mysterious, but a great process!

Lost in the vast sea of books
I don`t know whether it has happened to you, too, but there were days when I browsed the internet for hours in the hope of finding a good book - in vain. By good I mean a book that I was tempted to read. I gave in search words like "women adventure" (I meant outdoors adventure and mistakenly got erotic adventures!) or "biography" (and got hundred of books I did not want to read). Sometimes I gave up in dispair.
Very rarely I found a treasure by coincidence.
Why did I not go to GoodReads earlier? I don`t know but I`m glad that now, I can dive into the lists that readers like you have accumulated - a fountain of knowledge and good advice!
And I am trying out all the options that are offered to me on this site. So bear with me, I will calm down later...

Eventful
Right now, I am multitasking, juggling several books at the same time, emerging from one, diving into another one.

My new mystery novel "Stormy Cove" is released on May 24. But another things is happening: My next novel that is set in the Arctic is being edited. And I am already thinking of a future novel with cowboys, horses and a series of unexplained high-profile accidents/murders in it.
Sometimes, when people inquire about my books, I mix up my heroines`names or the locations or even the plot. That is what happens when you are pulled out of your quiet and solitary occupation of writing, and all of a sudden you find yourself out in the open, surrounded by people and bombarded by questions. But I enjoy that part, too, I really do. I just have to manage the transition.
What I am really looking forward to is the exchange with my readers. It is amazing what they come up with and what a particular book means to them and their lives.
All I can say: Bring it on. ...more
