A beautifully written Historical fiction love story
Peggy A. Edelheit is the author of the Samantha Jamison Series, writing fast paced, keep-you-guessing mysteries. I am thrilled to find her review of my book, Dancing with Air:

During the months leading up to D-Day, Dancing with Air, a military romantic suspense novel, flawlessly engaged this reader from page one until the very end. This WWII historical fiction read is a standalone and the fourth volume in a continuing family saga. But you don’t feel disconnected in any way if you haven’t read the previous books. This talented author has managed to incorporate military romantic suspense, family saga, with a strong female lead in a love story that doesn’t disappoint. The two main characters, Natasha and Lenny, are portrayed realistically and had me rooting for their survival together through constant obstacles constantly thrown in their path. The beginning and ending smoothly transitions in and out of Alzheimer’s disease with heart wrenching and heart warming conversations. The author, Uvi Poznansky, has written an emotion-filled, convincing chronicle of love that left me wanting more.

Powerful/Passionate/Poignant Love Story
I'm so elated to discover a wonderful review, written by a Top 500 Amazon Reviewer, for my novel Dancing with Air:
5.0 out of 5 stars ~~Powerful/Passionate/Poignant Love Story~~By USN Chief, Ret..VT Town TOP 500 REVIEWER on August 8, 2016Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
This is a powerful, passionate and poignant story of eternal love between Lenny and Natasha. It begins with memory problems that Natasha is having in 1970 and Lenny being her caregiver. Tests have been ordered to ascertain the depth of her problems. From there, the reader is invited into the intense times during WW II while Lenny was stationed in the UK - London as a military courier.
Natasha is a brilliant concert pianist and volunteers with the USO to entertain the troops in the UK. She, of course, wants to be as close to Lenny as possible. This book covers the gamut of emotions that young lovers face during the early times in a relationship. While in Britain, they travel together to the White Cliffs of Dover on a Harley-Davidson. From there, Lenny delivers some courier mail to the RAF base at Fauld barely escaping a horrific disaster.
The imagery in this book is incredible and outstanding. From the songs that are in nearly every chapter to the Harley ride along the British landscape, all of it is done with magnificent strokes of the author's hand.
Anyone who has been involved in a passionate romance will be able to feel the power of the romance between these two lovers. 'Good times and bad times, we'll be there' keeps filtering through my head. One scene near the end of the book is powerful when Lenny and Natasha go to the beach at Santa Monica. The 'bluebirds' evoke memories of a time long ago despite having a significant loss of memory. And, that is exactly how the human mind works in a sickness such as that which has inflicted Natasha. The sensuous nature of the love between Natasha and Lenny is intertwined throughout which, for me, intensified their relationship for many years.. 'Power of our passion...such is hope'.
One other thing I truly enjoyed in addition to the music was the descriptions of items not available during WW II. One was Uncle Sam limiting the hems on women's garments and not having any cuffs on them. The description of Mrs. Babcock's tin safe for meat storage was fascinating to me, as well.

You ask, what inspired me?
You ask, what inspired me to write my series, Still Life with Memories?
The short answer is, the characters continue, every day, to reveal their secrets to me. Here is the story of one of them: Natasha.
This fascinating figure, a renowned pianist suffering from early-onset Alzheimer's in my book Apart from Love (volume I and II of the series, woven together) kept coming back to haunt me. Her character was not an easy one to develop. The primary challenge is that she has no voice. She is utterly silent, which makes her son Ben hope—at first—that she can be reached, that he can 'save' her.
“There is no way to tell if she has heard me. Her gaze is fixed, as steadily as before, on the same small pane of glass, through which the sun is blazing; which makes it hard to figure out what she sees out there. I push forward, aiming to view it, somehow, from her angle, which at first, is too hard to imagine: In my mind I try, I see a map, the entire map of her travels around the world. A whole history. It has been folded over and again, collapsed like a thin tissue, into a square; which is suspended there—right in front of her—a tiny, obscure dot on that window. And inside that dot, the path of her journey crisscrosses itself in intricate patterns, stacked in so many papery layers. And the names of the places, in which she performed back then, in the past—London, Paris, Jerusalem, San Petersburg, New York, Tokyo—have become scrambled, illegible even, because by now, she can no longer look past that thing, that dot. She cannot see out of herself. She is, I suppose, confined.”
My novel, The Music of Us (volume III in the series) gives voice to her.
“Once I find my way back, my confusion will dissipate, somehow. I will sit down in front of my instrument, raise my hand, and let it hover, touching-not-touching the black and white keys. In turn they will start their dance, rising and sinking under my fingers. Music will come back, as it always does, flowing through my flesh, making my skin tingle. It will reverberate not only through my body but also through the air, glancing off every surface, making walls vanish, allowing my mind to soar.
Then I will stop asking myself, Where am I, because the answer will present itself at once. This is home. This, my bench. The dent in its leather cushion has my shape. Here I am, at times turbulent, at times serene. I am ready to play. I am music.”
This novel starts out at 1970, when she starts to succumb to her illness, and goes a generation back, to 1941, the time that she and Lenny first fell in love. This is the story of their love.
And my new release, Dancing with Air, shows her at her peak, back in the months leading to D-Day:
Then—just over the plaintive bleating of the sheep and the chaotic blasts rocking the mine—came a different sound. I listened to it in disbelief. It was the most wonderful sound in the entire world: a hum, the low, familiar hum of my Harley. There it was, a silhouette of the beast, with Natasha astride on top of it, hair unfurling in the wind. I wanted to tell her how I admired her courage, the risk she took, riding it here all by herself, without my guidance, to get here. I wanted to tell her she should have stayed away. But by now I knew that for me, she would dare take any chance, come what may.“Oh Lenny,” she said. “You look... I have no words for it.”Overcome with sudden joy I staggered towards her.“Come on,” she said. “Let’s go.”In confusion I asked, “Where to?”
And Natasha said, “Anywhere, my love. Anywhere but here.”

Two minutes to understand. A lifetime to master
Lindsay Townsend's books are mostly historical romance and set in medieval England, ancient Rome or ancient Egypt, but she also writes romantic suspense and historical mystery. I am thrilled that she invited me to her blog, to showcase my novel, Dancing with Air.
My excerpt started with,
At the back of the castle, Natasha removed her long-sleeve shirt, saying she was burning hot, even though the air had already started to cool down. Upon reaching the bike, she hopped onto the saddle, pretending to be the rider, but fumbling about, because of knowing next to nothing about the controls.“So tell me,” she said, “how long will it take me to learn to ride the bike?”“Two minutes to understand,” I said. “A lifetime to master.”

Give me some insight into the writing of this novel
Christoph Fischer is the author of several historical and contemporary fiction books (Sebastian, The Luck of the Weissensteiners, and more.) He is also is a high-ranking reviewer on Goodreads. I am thrilled that he invited me to come back to his website, to chat about my new novel, Dancing with Air.
He opened the feature post with these welcoming remarks:
Uvi is no stranger to my blog. I’m a big fan and am delighted to announce her newest release: Dancing with Air
Give me some insight, he said, into the writing of this novel. In response, this is what I said:
To write the story with authentic historical detail, I went though meticulous research into many aspects of the WWII era– the garb and hairstyle of the time, the furniture and appliances, and of course, the timeline of events. But beyond all that, I was inspired by popular music of the time, to compose lyrics that will resonate not only with your memories but also with the mood of the characters. The lyrics add another dimension to the romantic feel of this book. Here is an example:
Do I want you to stayAnd be here by my side?Only foreverBe my joy and pride
Would I let you leave meIf you say that you must?Take my heart with you‘Cause its you that I trust
Would I be counting the daysTill you’re back in my arms?Only alwaysEnchanted by your charms

Cover reveal: paperback edition of Dancing with Air
Here is the cover for my upcoming paperback edition of Dancing with Air. When will it be published, you ask? Any day now... Stay tuned...
As with all my covers, I create a full image that wraps around the story, back and front.
I was inspired by this passage in the story, told by Lenny:
A month ago she had given me a page of her diary, and to the sound of it rustling in my hand I imagined her imagining me:
He will be running his fingers down, all the way down to the small of my back, touching his lips to my ear, breathing his name, breathing mine. Here I am, dancing with air. Around and around we go.
With these words Natasha stepped into my mind, lighting up the gloom. I pictured her dancing with her back to me as if, between the two of us, I was the one who was not even there. The ripples of her hair spread open, glinting in all shades of red. Wave by wave they cascaded down, first between her shoulder blades, then over them. Fingers stretched out, just like a ballerina, she raised her arm up high, swirling, twirling air, turning it into glow. The translucent fabric fastened around her waist flapped over her legs, folds radiating, fluttering, flaring with every sinuous movement, as she formed loops, slow, continuous infinity loops with her hips.I turned the radio on, and a song came on:
You’re the one I live for To you I’ll soon surrenderI’ll love you through the worst of warIn the name of all that’s tender
Till this sadness disappearsCome to me, I’ll hold you dearThrough times of joy and time of tearsNo more loneliness, no more fear
The last vibration faded away, and so did the apparition I created of Natasha.

Beach reading: her ultimate dream was about to come true
She heard the inflection in his voice turning deeper, more sensuous, and the electricity in the air snapped and skittered around them."Are you cold?"His question made her aware that she'd been totally oblivious to the chilly breeze that had picked up. This was the time of year when the days were still hot and sultry with leftover summer temperatures, but the evenings cooled quickly with the early sunset."It's not too bad," she said, but was terribly happy when he pulled her closer, wrapping his other arm around her protectively."Is this better?" he murmured huskily."Mmmm," she said. "Much."The only thing that could make this fantasy perfect, she mused, was to feel his lips on hers.
Just as if he'd heard her speak the words aloud, Derrick slowly... methodically... inched forward. And Anna knew without a doubt that her ultimate dream was about to come true.

I wished I could find my way back into that circle
Now I laid down under some wilted bushes, using a rock for a pillow. So miserably disgraced, so alone was I, that I wished to bury myself right there in the sand. A great blackness yawned upon me. It was like no other night sky I had ever seen before. Back home, I remembered, it would be lit up by the campfire, around which the family would gather for the evening meal. The faces of the young girls, sitting with their skirts spread on the woven mat, would blush. You could see their cheeks flaming as they giggled, hinting at the shepherds, who would rise up then, stand in a loop and play their flutes, made out of reeds, or strum their stringed instruments, made out of sheep sinews. The blaze of the fire would be mirrored in my father’s eyes, and looking at him, you could barely believe he was going blind. His rich voice would lead us in songs, which turned, gradually, into wordless melodies, as the wine cask was passed from one hand to another, making its way several times around the fire.At bedtime you could spot, through the canvas of your tent, the glitter of my mother’s candlelight. Her soft, charming voice would bid goodnight to you, goodnight to all. Then, from the maidservant’s quarters, you could hear the gurgle of a baby, falling asleep on his mother’s breast. And later, the whispers of love making from one tent, then another, followed by peaceful rhythms of breathing. All around you, men and women stirring, from time to time, in their sleep.
The glow of this memory was as tempting and as fanciful as delusion. I ached for warmth, and wished I could leap, somehow, over time and distance, and find my way back into that circle. I wished I could sit there by the fire pit, and stretch out my hands, even blacken them by touching the dying embers.

"She opens the old story to be instead a lively psychological study of family and of greed and longing for paternal love and more. It works spectacularly well..." Grady Harp, Hall of Fame Reviewer
