He held her close, stroking her shoulders and back
He held her close, stroking her shoulders and back as the men’s voices slowly faded and were swallowed up by the night.“Wait a minute,” he said, holding up one hand. “I do know of a safe house not too far from here.” “The Pinkerton one?” She gasped.“No, of course not. Another one that Mr. Tyler told me about. It’s located only five blocks from here, and they are always open,” he said. As a lone dog’s bark echoed into the night air, they hurried on, his hand still slightly clammy, but she could tell they were both breathing more regularly, and she took comfort in that. We’ll get good care now.James actually smiled. “Almost there. We turn the corner here and we’re almost…”When he bumped head on into Lockwood’s massive body, he yelled “Oh, no!” The lead agent grabbed James and held him tight.Hannah stared in disbelief at the two of them. James drew a deep breath. “Hannah, this is Mr. Lockwood.”“Agent Neely, Miss Mayfield, just the people I was looking for,” he said, snickering. To Hannah, Lockwood’s face, illuminated by the other agents’ lit torches, resembled the devil, overjoyed at the prospect of ushering two new recruits into hell.

Gorgeous artwork!
A short and sweet review for my art book, Inspired by Art: A Peek at Bathsheba:
5.0 out of 5 stars Gorgeous artwork!ByLinda Whitehead Humberton April 7, 2017Format: Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
As is everything that Ms Poznansky has her hand in, this work is beautifully crafted. The pieces are varied, dealing with the different aspects of David's and Bathsheba's timeline. The artists are from all genres and the selections have been carefully chosen. I would highly recommend this book. It deserves to be published in a hardback edition.

Angelina looked into his eyes for the first time
“You again? What is it with you? You really should be more careful,” teased Joshua as he pulled her onto the bank.Mortified and embarrassed, Angelina looked into his eyes for the first time - they were mesmerising. “Thank you so much. I am not usually so clumsy. I run up here all the time and nothing like this has ever happened to me before.” She was shivering now. The lake was sub-zero and she was wet through.Joshua took off his sweatshirt and handed it to her. “Here, put this on before you catch your death of cold too.” Smiling, Angelina gladly took the sweater and pulled it over her head as she stood up with the aid of Joshua. For a brief moment, their eyes locked, neither one saying a word, until a dog broke the silence as he came up sniffing behind them, swiftly followed by an embarrassed owner who quickly ushered the dog along.

Artistic Look at David and Goliath
A new review of my art book, Inspired by Art: Fall of a Giant:
4.0 out of 5 stars Artistic Look at David and GoliathByMaryEvelynon April 6, 2017Format: Kindle Edition|Verified PurchaseThis review is from: Inspired by Art: Fall of a Giant (The David Chronicles Book 5) (Kindle Edition)
Uzi Poznansky was inspired by artworks depicting David's victory over Goliath. This book is a visual feast of David's moment of triumph. Numerous artists captured David's celebratory return from battle, Goliath's head dangling from his hands. Poznansky, so inspired, created THE DAVID CHRONICLES, a series of three volumes, the first novel being RISE TO POWER. It isn't difficult to understand the artistic impression these paintings leave behind. My favorite, DAVID BEARING THE HEAD OF GOLIATH, is by Flemish artist Jacob van Oost, (1603-1671). Another is the beautiful painting by the Florentine artist Matteo Rosseli (1578-1650).
Note: This is not a story with words. This book contains artwork (some with brief description) from various Italian, French, Dutch, German, and Flemish artists. Various dates.

Brayden’s dreams of her had kept him going
Brayden’s dreams of her had kept him going during his recovery. Physical therapy. Aqua therapy. The ache around his hip intensified and he balanced his weight between the cane and the suitcase handle to stay upright. The front door opened.Alex, a year older than Zoe at twenty-nine, stepped onto the small porch. Tall and lean, his fitted maroon t-shirt seemed baggy over his khaki cargo shorts. He’d styled his black hair so that it was buzzed on the sides but long in the front. “Brayden?”Brayden forced his dry throat to work. “Yeah. Hey, bud.”The dogs raced out of the house, charging right for him.A shrieking whistle stopped the spaniels and had them tucking their tails as they circled, wanting to obey the order and check out the newcomer at the same time. Didn’t they remember him? Grandma Clark had dyed her hair a silver-purple and it puffed around her head like a cotton ball. She pushed by her grandson to study Brayden with astute brown eyes.“Looks like we’ve got matching canes, Brayden. Come on in from the street now before the neighbors start talking.”Brayden stepped forward, his left side stiff.Alex took the two porch stairs in one leap down to land on the sidewalk next to Brayden with a clomp of brown leather work boots. “Does Zoe know you’re coming?” Brayden shook his head. “She’ll be surprised.” Alex’s mouth quirked indecisively. Brayden knew exactly how Alex felt. Grandma Clark sniffed. “She sure will.”“Zoe doesn’t like surprises, not even on her birthday,” Alex said.

A Sophisticated and Inspiring Artistic Look at Bathsheba
Author of War Songs, Grady Harp is an artist representative, gallery owner, writer of essays and articles on figurative and all Representational art for museum catalogues and for travelling exhibitions, and an Amazon Hall of Fame Reviewer. He describes himself as being ever on the alert for the new and promising geniuses of tomorrow. So I am deeply honored that he has posted this five-star review for my art book, Inspired by Art: A Peek at Bathsheba:

Uvi Poznansky dons another Technicolor coat in this latest series of books, always raising the bar for her high standard previous achievements. Originally from Israel where she studied Architecture and Town Planning then moving to the US where she studied Computer Science and became an expert in Software Engineering, Poznansky managed to combine the design elements of two studies into unique formats. And she has accomplished the same with the other side of her brain - making visual her ideas (she is an accomplished painter, drawer, and sculptor who has enjoyed exhibitions both in Israel and in California, her present base) and making words in poetry and in short stories and children's books.
Uvi has published an absorbing book series – The David Chronicles – and now is curating art collections to enhance the pleasure of her books’ stories. This volume, A PEEK AT BATHSHEBA - focusing on the most torrid love affair ever told: David’s forbidden love affair with Bathsheba and his attempt to cover it up – , follows her previous installments THE EDGE OF REVOLT, FIGHTING GOLIATH and FALL OF A GIANT and is again one of the most complete collections of art from ancient through renaissance to contemporary in drawings, paintings, sculptures, etchings – works by James Tissot, Ivan Schwebel, Lucas Cranach the Elder, Pablo Picasso, Julius Schnorr von Carolsfeld, Francisco Hayez, Giovanni Bilivert, Giovanni Balducci, Raphael, Jean-Léon Gérôme, Sebastiano Ricci, Giovanni Battista Naldini, Cornelis van Haarlem, Karl Brulloff, Jan Massys, Jocopo Zucchi, Giordano, Carle-André van Loo, Jean-François de Troy, Guercino, Gistave Moreau, Paul Cézanne, Dirk, Vis, Magnus KleineTebbe, Henri Lindegaard, Rittun Thorstein, Rubens, Jan Massys, Paolo Veronese, Artemisia, Gentileschi, Jan Steen, Rembrandt, Willem Drost, Govert Flinck, Salviati, Jacob Adriaensz Backer, Ernst Fuchs, Chagall, Gustavve Adolphe Mossa, Pieter Lastman, Oskar Kokoschka, Michelangelo, Henry Fueli, Julius Schnorr von Carolsfeld - some well known, others – discoveries. The art is arranged neither by artist nor by artistic style or era, but rater by the story the art tells. It is a majestic, learned, beautifully designed book that carries a lot of instruction, entertainment, as well as visual pleasure. But then that is what Uvi is all about! Grady Harp, April 17

You got back your lost love, your truck and your dog
It sounded too real not to be about him and his life. Who else but the person singing this song could sing it with such genuine emotion? His next song was just as heartbreaking. How had she not taken the time to listen to such heartfelt music before? The joke had always been, what do you get if you play a country music record backward? You got back your lost love, your truck and your dog. Suzette had been guilty of letting old jokes stop her from listening to country music stations. After all, she lived just twenty miles from its world capital; Nashville, Tennessee. You couldn’t live in Tennessee and not know about country music, but Suzette had always considered herself too cultured ever to take it seriously. Was Seth’s music a good example of what the rest of it was like? She was finding herself pulled to the man sitting at her kitchen table. His songs were of a wounded soul. Someone had stolen his innocence and his youth. Suzette finished cooking, and divided all the food onto her best china. She wasn’t trying to impress him, but she seldom cooked so it was all she owned. She set two plates on the table but found she was no longer hungry. She propped her elbows on the table and gave Seth all of her attention. She knew without a doubt she was going to paint this man’s portrait. He had a story, and she now knew she had to find out what it was, but she didn’t think he was the type to tell anyone about himself. It was going to take some time to find out what made him tick, and that meant spending time together. Painting a portrait took time. Seth didn’t know it, but Suzette had made her decision. She had decided that Seth had depth and a wounded soul. She wanted to know why he sung of such pain and sorrow.

This, boys, is a moment to remember
Meanwhile, time passes. One more spring is here. With the end of harvest time, throngs of people arrive here from every corner of the land, to celebrate the festival of Shavuot. By instituting this pilgrimage, which happens three times a year, I have turned the City of David into a spiritual center, as well as an economic hub. Farmers and shepherds are pulling their wagons or riding their donkeys up the winding roads to Jerusalem, carrying sacks of wheat, bags of nuts, loads of fruits and vegetables, and meats of every kind. First they offer a sacrifice in front of the tabernacle of God, which is pitched at the top of the newly named Temple Mount. This is a site I have recently designated for a future temple. Then they spread out around the city, to trade their produce for bread and drink. You see vendors all around the city, setting up stands at every street corner. You hear their voices ringing in every market, competing one against the other to reach the most ear-splitting, deafening volume. With great flair, they are praising the freshness of their produce or the quality of their merchandise, and announcing bargain prices which are only starting points for animated bargaining. They exchange ducks for cows, tomatoes for meat, flowers for furniture. The spirit of renewal is everywhere. To entertain the masses I organize a huge parade. At the head of the royal procession, dancers are twirling their skirts about, actors are brandishing toy swords over their heads, musicians are blowing their trumpets, striking their cymbals, and beating their drums, all with intense rhythms that combine together to quicken the blood. Standing in my golden chariot, here I arrive, with my two adorable young boys: Adonijah on my left and Solomon on my right. I hand them the reins, and teach them to guide the team of three horses at a steady trot. “Don’t tighten the reins,” I tell Solomon, “or you’ll lose control.”“I’m trying, dad,” he says. “I can do it,” says Adonijah, trying to nudge me aside. “Here, let me show you!”“Slow down! This is a breakneck pace,” I tell him. “What’s the rush, all of a sudden?”“I’m impatient,” he says.“I can’t do it, dad,” says Solomon, handing the reins back to me.I smile at his freckled face. “No matter,” I say. “Take your time. Meanwhile, wave to the people around you. Give each and every one of them a little nod.”And turning to Adonijah I say, “Look at all these people. Not so long ago they thought of themselves as members of different tribes, at odds with one another. Now we’re all one nation. What you’re watching is more than merely a parade. This, you see, is history in the making!”“They’re so happy,” says Solomon, looking up to me.“They’re loving us,” says Adonijah, glancing at them.“Take it all in,” I tell them. “Watch the horses. See the feathers crowning their heads bobbing as they trot. See the waves rolling with the wind along their manes, their tails. Enjoy the bright sparkle of the sun, sliding upon their skin with each movement. Hear the music, the blaring applause. This, boys, is a moment to remember.”
