Romney Gone Wild

Don’t mess with Mitt’s Mormonism…

Okay Mitt, I got it. Just forget I ever mentioned that the Mormons believe the Second Coming will occur in Missouri and not in Jerusalem. Sheesh.

After The Affair

By: Faith In Ohio

On this General Election Eve day, I spent much of it on the road listening to the radio; and all that could be heard was Ohio this, and Ohio that, and Ohio Ohio Ohio Ohio, it’s all about the swing state of Ohio.

As if we couldn’t tell.

But, it’s okay because we all know that after tomorrow the affair will end like most one-sided affairs do, and Ohio will once again be stiffly and blatantly ignored.

At least for another four years, anyway.

Enjoy the love while it lasts, ye old Providencial River state, ye.

Punching the Clown [and it feels so good]

I recently watched this on Netflix and think you should watch it, too. It’s a sharp cut on life that’s both poignant and funny in a if Weird Al Yankovic were a struggling folk singer kind of way.

Okay, this isn’t much of a movie review but it’s all I’ve got.

Bottom line: 4 out of 5 lighted candles

Religions complicate so much of life.

Not spirituality, mind you—I’m specifically talking about religions and the rigidity of their tenets.

What does religion have to do with all these photographs of Hurricane Sandy’s destruction?

Well, because of the word’s main religions, religions that cannot, or will not, accomodate evolutionary thinking, we have a world full of deniers of evolution. Because of these deniers of evolution, we have a world full of deniers of climate change due to global warming. Because of these deniers of global warming, we have a world full of pollutants and other climate changing toxins that have damaged the world in such a way that we can no longer imagine how severe the next disaster will be.

Pretty crazy.

But what are we to expect if we have a world full of religious types who believe that their true being waits for them somewhere on the other side of reality, somewhere settled within an exclusive pearly gated community with streets paved of gold, and where everyone feasts on milk and honey, and where seventy or so virgins abide in every bedroom (including the heterosexual female believers’s bedroom as well—sorry gals). If that’s how one believes, then what does it matter how one regards this side of reality?

Crazy.

C’mon. How can anyone still deny evolution? How can anyone still deny that our world has evolved in such a way to protect itself from the things that have the potential to harm it the most have been. Our magical world has figured out how to filter out of the environment, via plants, all the nasty pollutants since the beginning of time, and then fossilized them, liquified them, and then buried them deep within its bowels so as not to cause any further harm?

Yes, the world evolved itself in a way to best protect itself.

As long as we insist on extracting these harmful things that mother nature has so intently tried to hide from us, we can bet that mother nature is not going to sit idly by and just let us destroy her. She knows how to survive.

After four billion, that’s 4,000,000,000, years or so, she knows how to adapt and overcome.

If we keep behaving disdainfully toward the heaven we have right here on earth, we will ensure that the world evolves in such a way to protect itself from the damage we are inflicting upon it, which, based upon past history and how mother nature has treated other elements that have caused her harm, will probably will mean we all will eventually end up being forever and safely buried deep with its bowels.

There is nothing we can do to stop the climate from changing; but we can do something to stop, or at least reduce our exploitation of carbon-based resources so as to prevent the climate from changing due to global warming.

And, of course there is nothing we can do to stop the world from evolving. Whether we evolve with it, that is up to us, and completely doable.

For this election, take heed in what mother nature is telling us, cast aside your religious way of thinking (not your spirituality, but your religious learnings) just for the day, and vote for the candidate who you know will provide for the best stewardship of our environment.

Mayor, and former republican, Bloomberg did.

In a surprise announcement, Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg said Thursday that Hurricane Sandy had reshaped his thinking about the presidential campaign and that as a result he was endorsing President Obama.

F### You Motherland I Am A Grass Mud Horse

I wonder if I would have the courage to stand up to a government like China’s as Ai Weiwei has. Heck, I don’t even have the guts to spell out the word “fuck” in the title of this post.
