The Kraken has left the building…
A lot of mindboggling, dangerously silly things happened in the Trump aftermath that made it hard to look away… this human clown perhaps was the most riveting and embarassingly entertaining of them all.

Few defenders of Mr. Trump promoted election fraud theories after his 2020 defeat to Joseph R. Biden Jr. as stridently as Ms. Powell. In high-profile appearances, often alongside other members of the Trump legal team, she pushed conspiracies involving Venezuela, Cuba and China, as well as George Soros, Hugo Chávez and the Clintons, while baselessly claiming that voting machines had flipped millions of votes.

Yup, gonna be a lot, and I mean a lot, of Kraken jokes floating around the webosphere today…

UPDATE: Just noticed in the featured image, courtesy of Openverse, that the kraken has Russia written across its forehead. Coincidence?

Peak Elon
Ever since gazillionaire Elon Musk got high with Joe Rogan on Rogan’s podcast…
He has steadily gotten weirder and weirder.
This is even above and beyond his self-confessed, and self-admiring, weird megalomaniacal Napolean Bonaparte complex.
But I’m not here to bash on Elon today*.
Because I recently logged into his Starlink network.
And let me tell you…
After twenty plus years living out in the country where the only access to the internet I have is through my phone’s hotspot…
My life has been revolutionized.
No hyperbole when I say that.
For instance, my son gifted me a video game that, to play it, I had to download it onto my computer via the Steam app.
It was an 80+gig file.
It took only a little over 3 hours to download it.
Steam clocked its peak download speak in at 197.6 Mbps.
A file that large literally, again, no hyperbole here, it literally would have taken me over 3 days to download.
Which explains why I am not much of a gamer.
I probably wouldn’t be even if I had decent internet these past couple decades…
But at least now I have the capacity to be so if I choose.
So despite all his many tech bro flaws, I thank him…
And I look forward to the other weird tech bro gazillionare Jeff Bezos entering into the satellite internet race.
Rumor has it, our Amazon Overlord is planning on a network with close to 500 Mbps download speeds.
Yeah…
Bring it!
*Yes, I’m aware of the unfortunate controversy surrounding him and Ukraine regarding Starlink access as reported in the new biography (ad) about him by Walter Isaacson.

Memories of a Movie’s Production
It’s hard for me to believe that it has been seven years this month that my sons and I hauled ass out to North Hollywood, California to film Leave, a short film based upon my short story of the same name.
That was one fun and memorable experience.
The movie premiered as the 2018 LA Femme International Film Festival, and shortly thereafter found a home at Amazon Prime.
Unfortunately, Amazon, in a huge diss to independent filmmakers all over the world, shut down its service to short films a couple of years ago and Leave has been without a distributor since.
I had plans to find a new home for Leave, but as we all know how way leads on to way, I never did…
Until now.
I have finally decided to bite the bullet and load it up on Youtube so that I can share it here with you on the Journal, and host it forever more, forever more on my Movie page, along with its trailer and The Making of Leave, a short documentary about the, uhm, well… making of Leave.
Upon reflection, the biggest lesson I learned about the entire movie making evolution, from writing the screenplay, to putting the cast and crew together, to tap dancing for donations here and at Kickstarter, to executive producing the production, to impatiently waiting for postproduction to post, and to trying to hustle it out to film festivals… is that the next time I decide to make a movie, and I still have plans/hopes to do so, I will definitely direct it myself.
Leave’s director, Caatje van Leeuwen, did a great job, which you can attest to when you watch the flick, but I just found it too difficult not having complete creative control over a story that means so much to me.
I guess its a familiar refrain through the industry, which is why we see so many written/directed by movies, particularly the indie ones.
So, go ahead and pop you some popcorn and pour you out some of your favorite adult beverage and kick back and enjoy the film.
