Help get ‘Heat in the Kitchen’ to No. 1!

This is a test of the power of the internet! ‘Heat in the Kitchen’ is currently FREE in all Amazon Kindle Stores. It is at #34 in the UK Contemporary Romance chart and #85 in the US chart. Wouldn’t it be cool to get it to #1 by the end of the promotion period. It has until midnight Pacific Time 1st September (0800 in UK on 2nd) (so just over one day left) until it goes back to the usual price.

If you all shared this with your friends and persuaded them to download it, I wonder how quickly it would climb the charts.

I’d appreciate your help with this experiment. Thank you

FREE Kindle ebook 08/30/12 – 09/01/12 (Heat in the Kitchen)

Heat in the Kitchen is on promotion for 3 days. This is the first book featuring the Duval-Adams family – a family you’re likely to fall in love with. This is your chance to get a copy for free. After Saturday everyone will have to pay to read how Matt and Ella get on after their less than successful first meeting. Please go grab yourself a bargain and let me know what you think.

Once you’ve read their story, nip across to the family’s website and listen to the song. Aah! It’s just beautiful.

Where do you get inspiration for your storylines?

When I started my first novel my head was brimming with ideas for future stories. I’m now a quarter of the way through a big project on one of those ideas which encompasses four novels. This is likely to take until the end of 2013 to finish. I still have the other ideas noted down but I have to admit to a bit of a niggle that I had exhausted all the ideas I was ever going to have.

I’m firmly in the camp that you can imagine anything from what is around you and what your experiencing at that time, but I was no longer snatching ideas from these experiences. That maybe because I have ideas that have yet to be turned into stories but nonetheless I still worried a little when I let myself think about it.

Imagine my delight then, when I’m on holiday, floating around in the pool because that was the only place where I could cope with being in the blazing hot sun, and I came up with an idea. The resort we stayed at in Spain, along with our visit to the Alhambra Palace has inspired a wonderful idea which is a romance story with intrigue. Each day I floated around on my son’s noodle, staring around at the apartments and the blue sky and added a little bit more detail to the idea. I’ve even designed the small, exclusive resort where much of the story takes place.

Now I’m home, I’ve written down all my thoughts so I don’t forget them. I’m excited about this new story and have a dilemma about whether I write it before I finish the series of four novels or whether I wait until the end of next year. Maybe I’ll just dabble with it as the mood takes me.

Here’s the pool where the story was born. It isn’t set in any special location with a stunning view, it just gave me the opportunity to relax in a large, warm bath and imagine.

Where does your inspiration come from?

The Power of Words

My advice to any aspiring author is to just write and keep writing. You may not quite have the right words for what you are trying to convey but you can put that right when you get to the edit stage. If you get stuck on a particular paragraph, or with a particular scene, valuable writing time can be lost by procrastinating about it - write through it and carry on, confident that the words will come eventually.

Here is a short video clip that I came across on the web that portrays how getting the words right can transform the message. It’s a beautiful reminder to writers about the power of words. In my experience, these beautiful words come eventually because I write through the pain and edit, edit, edit!

Enjoy the video.

FREE Romance for the Holidays

Bookmark and Share

As I go off on holiday for two weeks, I’m celebrating by offering The Millionaire Falls Hard  FREE for three days.

I think I’m on record somewhere saying I would no longer use Amazon’s KDP Select programme. However……. I now have an extract for my next novel at the back of The Millionaire Falls Hard so I’m using it to help promote the next one which is due out late July.

So, if you have yet to get your copy, you can now download it for the Kindle/Kindle App FREE on either Thursday 28th, Friday 29th or Saturday 30th June. Hope you enjoy it. I’d love to hear from you. Some people have described it as a sweet love story and others have described it as a steamy read - how would you describe it?
