Bullying is NOT acceptable!!
"Reckless words pierce like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing." Proverbs 12:18
Bullying someone is just not acceptable and needs to be stopped. Too many people are killing themselves or blowing up and killing others over this. It needs to be stopped. When a bully is bullying someone they are projecting what is inside them (their heart) onto you. You can also be bullied by your circumstances as well.
It takes strength to stand up to a bully. We each have the strength of God within us.
"For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline." 2 Timothy 6-7
The bully only has power over you if you allow them to have power over you. If what they say is true, then there's nothing that you can do about it. However, if what they are saying to you is not the truth, you don't need to worry and fret over this as the truth will come out. Don't allow this to make you feel bad or allow the words to fester in your mind to convince you that is true! Have the strength to get the help you need to make the bully stop! When you have the strength of the Lord within you, that is your power. If you claim to be a Christian, live like one. Be the better person and don't allow the wiles of the world to keep you from living the way that God wants you to.
"Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against one of your people, but love your neighbor as yourself, I am the Lord." Leviticus 19:18
When being bullied by the bully, kill them with kindness or just walk away from them without saying a word. Do not give the bully the satisfaction of knowing that what they said to you bothered you as it gives them what they want and they will continue to bully you. Kill evil with kindness for it will confuse them. For example, you can take whatever the bully has said and turn the words around into something positive towards the bully.
The whole purpose for the bully's bullying you is because he/she is trying to kill your spirit. They want you to be just as miserable as they are or worse. The evil within the heart of the bully is coming out to destroy the good in the heart of the person being targeted.
How we love ourselves is how we should treat others! We should be treating each other with love, kindness, respect, etc. We should be lifting each other up and helping one another NOT putting each other down and destroying the goodness in their hearts.
Words have a great deal of power, therefore speak life(goodness) in everything that you do. Be mindful of what you say. Think before you say something and NEVER, I repeat, never say anything when you are angry because that is when a lot of hurtful ugly things come out of your mouth that you cannot take back. It won't matter that you apologize for it later as the words you spoke have already done their damage and cannot be undone.
"You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks. The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him." Matthew 12:34-35
If your heart is filled with goodness (joy), then good things will come out of your mouth. If your heart is filled with sin (deceitfulness) then evil will come out of your mouth. If you have evil in your heart, ask God to create in you a clean heart, holy and acceptable to him.
There is a new kind of bullying going around as well, cyber-bullying. Cyber-bullying is just as bad as regular bullying but may at times be worse. Bullying in all shapes and forms is a form of evil! Bullying causes low self-esteem, shamefulness, hurt feelings and many suicides. It can in extreme terms cause the person being bullied to kill others. Remember Columbine?
To the person being bullied, remember this important fact: IT IS NOT YOUR FAULT that you are being bullied!
Reasons why bullies bully:
They are trying to get your attention for whatever reason.
They are jealous of you.
They are trying to put you down because of what they lack within themselves that they see in you.
You can choose to believe what God says about you and quit listening to the lies that bullies are saying about you. Stop paying attention to the bully. Don't even give them the satisfaction that it bothers you.
We cannot allow bullying to continue. The words that they say can last a lifetime. Words have power. They have the power to destroy someone and they have the power to heal and strengthen someone. They have the power to lift someone up.
TO THE BULLY: Deal with the evil inside of you. You need a new and clean heart. It is NOT okay to hurt others because you are hurting. Instead of making others feel bad, why not get help for yourself to make yourself better?
