Wayward #26 Reviews

Adventures In Poor Taste: 9/10 “Wayward has always excelled in the visual department, and finally it’s rising to the occasion writing-wise through riveting character drama and escalating the plot to a wonderful crescendo.”

Comic Book.com: 10/10 “With an intriguing story, haunting realism, and a dose of optimism Wayward #26 might be the most perfect comic book you read this week.”

Geeked Out Nation: 8.4/10 “Wayward continues to be that drama with teens that rescues you from all of the cliche. Issue #26 brings these kids together again, but only to challenge the things that keep them sane, and keep them on the right side of this war.”

Horror Talk: 10/10 “If this is how the final arc begins, I can’t imagine how it’s going to end.”

Multiversity Comics: 8/10 “It’s the kind of issue that has made reading the series an overall pleasure. The march to the Wayward finale begins, and the book is firing on all cylinders.”

TM Stash: 10/10 “This series is quite possibly the most beautifully written and illustrated book in comics today.”

Champions #21 and Infinity Countdown: Champions #1 Reviews

CHAMPIONS #21

Black Nerd Problems: 8.5/10 “What I continue to love about Izaakse’s art is that he has such a pitch-perfect grasp on everyone’s power. Just pay close attention to every panel during the fight scenes and you’ll see that every hero is represented to the fullest.”

Bleeding Cool: 8.5/10 “a fun and action-packed issue with a compelling conflict with intriguing implications. This is an all-around strong issue giving the reader conflict and character”

Comic Book.com: 10/10 “This comic has loads, and loads, and LOADS of heart. All people deserve to have a voice, no matter where they come from, and Champions makes sure we all understand that. This book is quickly becoming a must-read for any and all comics fans.”

Comic Watch: 9/10 “This book earns a strong recommendation, especially at the end of its first arc. It’s got everything a comics fan could ask for – great characters, beautiful art, amazing action scenes, and sparkling dialogue.”

Shoot the Breeze: 9.8/10 “This has been a VERY FUN, VERY VIBRANT start to writer Jim Zub & artist Sean Izaaske’s new run on Champions”

INFINITY COUNTDOWN: CHAMPIONS #1

Bleeding Cool: 8/10 “a nice first step for this tie-in two-shot. Its characters are endearing, it’s story compelling, and the art is solid and fitting for the narrative.”

Comic Book.com: 8/10 “writer Jim Zub continues to knock it out of the park with this coming-of-age superhero troop.”

Heroes At The Summit: Grade A “Written with a youthful flare and drawn with poise, this issue is a compelling story of hope and desire.”

Shoot the Breeze: 9.8/10 “This story is a very effective character-piece for [Nova]. The art by Emilio Laiso is equally effective, showing a wide-range of expressive faces and the Champions all look very distinct!”

Snowguard on CBC’s The National

Nyla Innuksuk and I spoke to CBC’s The National all about developing Snowguard, a new Inuk Canadian superhero in the Marvel Universe. Lots of great artwork from Sean Izaakse, Marcio Menyz, and RB Silva on Canadian national TV (plus a nice peak at The Beguiling comic shop downtown) as we talk about story, character, and representation. Give it a watch!
