Today’s Question by the reader : Nathalia

I think in economic crisis the main problem of Igor, the main character of your new novel The Winner Stands Alone, will be to save his business but not love. What you think about this? And what you think about crisis?

Interesting that you mention the crisis because, in my eyes, this book talks exactly about the excesses that led to the current situation. The constant race for power, money, glamour, are the outward signs of a society that has made “consumption” the alpha and omega of human conduc

The importance of allies - Part 2

Paulo Coelho

[...:]

Perhaps the warrior feels tempted to think that his dream does not interest everyone, such as bakers and farmers, for example. But in the warrior they will have a good example of perseverance and courage. And a baker can teach a lot of things, such as the exact mixture of the ingredients, which is based more on intuition than technique. A farmer can show the importance of patience, sweat, respect for the seasons, and the futility of cursing storms – because that is a sheer waste

Quote of the Day

Paulo Coelho

An enemy always represents a weakness. This might be fear of physical pain, but it could also be a premature sense of victory or the desire to abandon the fight because it is no longer worthwhile.

Today’s question by the reader : Zoula

Spirituality is the core of your works. You certainly influenced the life of millions through this book, but few people know what were the powers influencing you?

I think my spirituality came from curiosity and, later, by understanding there is a silent presence around myself and I don’t try to explain it but I try to live my faith according to the things I believe.

The importance of allies - Part 1

Paulo Coelho

The warrior of light who does not share with others the happiness of his choices will never come to know his own qualities and shortcomings.
So before you start anything, find allies – people who are interested in what you are doing.
I am not saying “Find other warriors of light.”
I am saying: “Find people with different skills, because a warrior’s fight for his dream is no different from any other path that is followed with enthusiasm.”
Your allies will not necessarily be those people t

Today’s question by the reader : Raphael

Readers of your books, besides the joy of reading, find concrete spiritual directions for life… Do you think that your messages find their way to a specific type of readers, or you write novels without thinking about your reader?

I don’t give concrete spiritual directions for life, because living is the only way to learn. I am a writer, first and foremost. I always had the need to write, despite the outer world. I believe that it is this need to keep on understanding myself and questioning the wo

Making the field fertile

Paulo Coelho

The Zen master entrusted the disciple with looking after the rice patch.

In the first year the disciple took care that the necessary water was never lacking. The rice grew strong and it was a good harvest.

In the second year he had the idea of adding a little fertilizer. The rice grew fast and the harvest was bigger.

In the third year he used more fertilizer. The harvest was even bigger, but the rice came up small and had no shine to it.
