New book cover

Just got the first draft of my new book cover from Matt at Candescent Press and really pleased with it.

I wanted something that showed several aspects of the book at the same time- the war-film obsessed main character, as well as the school setting and also the 70s. At the moment there's a space hopper on there, wearing a British Tommy helmet with a blackboard background.

It's looking good!

Fighting Talk

Finished the final edit of my new novel, Fighting Talk, today. It's the first in a series of 3 books, a school-based yarn set in 1975/76. Expect platform shoes, space hoppers and a few 3 star jumpers!

I'll send it off tomorrow to Matt Maguire at Candescent Press for formatting and he's busily sorting the front cover for me.

Can't recommend Matt highly enough!

Computer protection

Quite a few people asked about the virus attack on my computer and how to prevent it.
Talking to the Head of IT at work he recommended AVG- it's free and even I could install it!

2 weeks holiday!

Got a long break this Easter. I have a new book being edited right now (the first in a series of 3) and I'm proofing the second one.

This is something I started several years ago so really pleased to finally get it out there.Should be available mid-April.

Great to have some time...

Computer crash

Well, finally got my first 2 malware virus attacks-crashed my laptop, wiped my desktop and caused a minor heart attack.
Luckily had a lot of writing backed up so the moral is get an external hardrive and keep saving...

Playing the guitar and writing

Both very similar in my opinion- learning a new song is like trying to get a chapter right. You go back, you do it again...and again...and again!
(And after trying to master a few of his songs Johnny Marr may well be the Shakespeare of the guitar- a genius in other words!)

Popular genres

My novel Burnfield is certainly outselling Tabnit Gisgo! Tabnit is historical fiction with a comedic voice whereas Burnfield is a horror novel with a lot of historical fiction!

Facebook Fan page

Tried to create one this morning and it ended up looking like a dog's dinner! Ended up deleting. I'll have another go but I do find Facebook pages quite hard to navigate...or am just showing my age!

Editing my new novel

Just about half-way through my final edit for my new novel...found a really useful tool on Microsoft Word (which I've been using for years but didn't know existed!) Anyway it allows you to search for a specific word or phrase in your document. Really good if you tend to overuse certain ones!
