Suicide and Synchronicities
That's the topic of
a new Mysterious Universe article from me
, on a curious series of events that occurred a couple of days ago.
It starts like this...
"Well, July 1 was a strange day for me; in fact, a very strange day. It was one filled with synchronicities concerning a specific place in England. Or, depending on your own personal perspective on synchronicities, it was simply a series of random coincidences that only appeared to be something more. I have no solid opinion on what causes synchronicities, except to say that I seem to get a hell of a lot of them. Why, of course, is the big question, since – as with July 1 – any intended meaning behind what happened eludes me. So, with that said, read on.
"Around 9:00 a.m. on July 1, I headed out to do a bunch of chores around town. I always like to have music on when I’m driving, so I chose one of my favorites, the UK band, Veronica Falls. In my view, their best song is 'Beachy Head,' a song about the UK’s most notorious spot at which people choose to take their own lives. Well, since the song is a good, catchy one, I let it play a couple of times. Nothing strange about that, except for what happened later."

Is Ufology Dying?
That's the question I ask in my latest
Mysterious Universe
article.
As for the answer, maybe.
Or, at the very least, a change in direction and a less visible presence in the future.
Here's the article.

The Professionals - Reforming
For those (like me!) who are interested, the band that Steve Jones and Paul Cook put together after the Sex Pistols split up - called The Professionals - are reforming.
They are in rehearsal right now.
Only thing is, it's unfortunately without Jones.
But, it will be the other 3 - Paul Cook, Ray McVeigh, and Paul Meyers - and a new singer replacing Jones. I don't like it - at all - when bands change singers (see the Undertones as a perfect example).
But, I'd still go and see them, as the Professionals put out some great singles and one album (the rawer version of the album, rather than the polished I Didn't See It Coming is far better).
I hope they come to Texas and play!

"Human-like but strangely disfigured bodies"

That's the title of a new Mysterious Universe article from me, on Roswell.
It begins...
"If there is one thing, more than any other, that is guaranteed to get the Roswell UFO research community in a collective state of fury, it’s a discussion of the theory that what came down on the Foster Ranch, Lincoln County, New Mexico in the summer of 1947 was a top secret device of terrestrial, rather than extra-terrestrial origins.
"Clenched fists, red faces, stuttering and stammering, and arms folded tightly and defensively are the usual reactions to such discussions. I even saw a spontaneous nosebleed once. No joke. And when you see that happen you just know the person has lost the plot. Yep, I’ve seen them all. Well, aside from one."

The Atticus Institute: Reviewing Demons
There's a new review from me at
Mysterious Universe
, on a new movie called
The Atticus Institute
, which focuses on attempts by the US Government to harness and weaponize demonic phenomena. It's a good, thought-provoking fim.

Allen Ginsberg and the FBI

If, like me, you're a big fan of the writings of the "Beat" and post-"Beat" authors, you might be interested to know that the FBI has declassified its files on beardy-poet Allen Ginsberg. As much as I like the writings of the Beats, however, I can't stand poetry; bunch of pretentious, self-important claptrap. The file's interesting though.
