UFOs and Supernatural Black Dogs

"On more than a few occasions I’ve been asked why – for the most part – I don’t take a mainstream 'nuts and bolts' approach to the UFO phenomenon. Well, it’s true: I don’t. The reason being that I see clear cross-overs between certain Ufological events and multiple other paranormal phenomena. Take, for example, the more than a few reports on record of Bigfoot seen at the same time and place as strange lights in the sky. Or, the parallels between alien abduction encounters and reports of incubus- and succubus-style activity. Then there’s the matter of UFOs and synchronicities. As I see it, we’re dealing with something far stranger than an extraterrestrial equivalent of NASA. A perfect example of all this is a case from 1980. It’s one that has been hailed as a UFO classic (and in many respects it is). But, when we look deeper, we find it’s steeped in high-strangeness; much of which takes it far away from Ufology."

That's how one of my recent Mysterious Universe article begins, and which you can find here .

A Strange Tale Of UFO Files

There's a new Mysterious Universe article from me, which begins as follows:

"As anyone and everyone with knowledge of the UFO phenomenon will be aware, the entire subject is steeped in controversy. But some aspects of the UFO phenomenon are more controversial than others. And then there are those aspects that are really controversial. All of which brings me to today’s article. In 1997 I interviewed the well-known British UFO investigator, Jenny Randles, regarding a strange series of events she found herself in, back in late 1986. It was a very curious saga involving allegedly classified documents, dead aliens, crashed flying saucers, and much more.

"It all began in October 1986, when Randles came into contact with a man who had then recently left his employment with the British Army. According to the man, he had in his possession a large stash of still-classified material on UFOs that he had acquired under very controversial circumstances. Well, despite the nature of the story, Randles agreed to meet with the man – named Robert – at a location in the English town of Eccles, which wasn’t at all far from where Randles lived. Also along for the meeting with Robert was Peter Hough, a friend of Randles and a fellow UFO investigator..."

Bigfoot, Nessie, and More

Had a very cool day yesterday, headed off early, and lecturing again with good friend Shelly Covington-Montana for the kids in Dallas' Highland Park District. Me talking about the Loch Ness Monster and Shelly on Bigfoot. Then dinner at a local bar followed by a trip to Half Price Books. A good day!

Nessie and the World of the Supernatural

It's fair to say that many of my books are controversial. One of the books I have out in 2016 might be one of the most controversial. It deals with all the varied material that suggests the Nessies of Loch Ness, Scotland might be supernatural creatures, rather than flesh and blood animals. I can see steam coming out of certain ears as I write this! And this is the cover design, with the book published by Llewellyn, who also published my Chupacabra Road Trip book a few months ago.

UFO Fashion

One of those I met at the Brazilian UFO Forum last week was long-time Facebook friend Thiago Luiz Ticchetti. As well as being a UFO author/researcher, Thiago also has his own UFO-themed t-shirt line. He generously let me choose one, and so I picked the Maury Island case/shirt. Thanks, mate!

Here's a bunch of photos from my week at the UFO Forum at Foz do Iguacu, Brazil (got back home yesterday). It was a great time, made many new friends, and spoke on the subject of the recently published Brazilian edition of my 2011 book, The Real Men In Black .

Mike Clelland and "The Messengers"

Mike Clelland's new book, The Messengers: Owls, Synchronicity and the UFO Abductee is an excellent read. It's also a book for which I provided a lot of input. Don't miss this one, if you're interested in some of the more intriguing and thought-provoking aspects of the UFO phenomenon in general and the "abductee" issue in partricular.

Here's the publisher's info on Mike's book:

"Without question, this is a classic by one of the most exciting new authors in the UFO field today. After reading it, your view of reality will never be the same. The owl has held a place of reverence and mystique throughout history. And as strange as this might seem, owls are also showing up in conjunction with the UFO experience. Mike Clelland has collected a wealth of first-hand accounts in which owls manifest in the highly charged moments that surround alien contact. There is a strangeness to these accounts that defy simple explanations. This book explores implications that go far beyond what more conservative researchers would dare consider. But the owl connection encompasses more than the UFO experience. It also includes profound synchronicities, ancient archetypes, dreams, shamanistic experiences, personal transformation, and death. From the mythic legends of our ancient past to the first-hand accounts of the UFO abductee, owls are playing some vital role. This is also a deeply personal story. It is an odyssey of self-discovery as the author grapples with his own owl and UFO encounters. What plays out is a story of transformation with the owl at the heart of this journey."
