Overcoming solopreneur anxiety: Why ‘you are enough’ is the key to success

The to-do list never seems to end when you���re a solopreneur or running your own business, does it? One of my clients, who runs an expressive arts therapy organization, was spiraling about an upcoming program that wasn���t fully booked. She wondered, ���Am I doing enough? Should I be posting more on social media? Should I throw more money at ads? What else should I be DOING?���

The anxiety was real. It���s exhausting to always feel there���s more we ���should��� be doing.

During our session, the metaphoric image that came up for her was a small black circle. And here���s the thing about metaphor: its power lies in its simplicity.

When things get too complicated, our heads jump in, trying to ���figure it out.��� But metaphor speaks straight to the heart. And in this case, the message from the image was clear:

���I am the small black circle. I am whole and have everything I need. I AM enough. I offer enough. My people will find me. What I truly want to say is: I need to be who I am, and my people will find me. I am enough. Everything I���ve done is enough.���

If you���re out there carving your own unique path in the world, here���s the truth: all you need to do is be you.

You are enough. And everything you���ve done is enough.

Your people will find you.

Real revolution requires courage and creativity

It’s hard to be a pioneer. It’s hard to create new things. Because if it’s something new, others don’t recognize it as having value. Create it anyway. 

If someone can do it better than you, can teach it better than you, or has already written it…it’s not your work. Your work is the work that only you can do. 

For me, what has worked best is to realize that my work is not ultimately about me personally. I’m in service to something greater than myself. Holding that stance takes the pressure off.

And remember joy and beauty….as Karen Walrond said, “I will never apologize for embracing joy and beauty–even when the world is falling apart–because joy and beauty are my fuel for activism.”

Unlocking a creative life starts with embracing flexibility, play, and a sensitivity to beauty. When we open ourselves to new experiences and let curiosity guide us, we tap into a wellspring of inspiration. Cultivating a willingness to sit with confusion and hold opposing ideas allows for deep insight, all while trusting our own inner voice as the compass. 

These eight essentials invite us to live more vibrantly, seeing the world as a canvas for endless possibility. 

Each of these qualities helps us break free from limitations and tap into the rich, layered potential of our creative minds. By nurturing these essentials, we create a life filled with depth, discovery, and a profound connection to the world around us.
