It is always a pleasure to have Veronica Scott visiting at Whiskey With My Book. You may be aware, she has a new book out, Danger in the Stars, and she is here to tell you a little bit about how it came to be.

Last excerpt from Danger in the Stars, since it’s been released for a couple of weeks now!

New Releases in #SciFi and #Fantasy Romance for Wednesday April 19
[image error]As always, I recommend sampling before you buy! I have not read most of the new releases listed (although I always end up one-clicking a bunch as I prepare these posts LOL).
TWO BOOKS FROM LINDSAY BUROKER, spin off from her Fallen Empire series. I loved that series and it’s fun to catch up with the folks from those stories. I don’t get the feeling there’s romance here (Lindsay does like to do a slow build over many books) but I want to list the books for those who love her fiction as much as...

I’m only going to do one or two more excerpts from Danger in the Stars since it’s now released. Then I’ll switch to something else.
This is from a scene later in the book, after Mirielle’s used her power and is having a hard time recovering. Jareck, her ‘controller’, left h...

Titanic and the Mummy’s Curse
[image error] VS Note: I published the first portion of this post on my blog in 2012 originally.
Did the Titanic sink because of an Ancient Egyptian curse? Was the mummy of Princess “Amen-Ra” from 900BC to blame for the disaster?
Of the many legends swirling around Titanic, this one appeals to me not only because of my fascination with the ship, but also because I write paranormal romances set in Ancient Egypt. Sad to relate, this exciting tale is untrue. Per the myth-debunking website Snopes, not only wa...

Up Against the Galaxy DANGER IN THE STARS Interview

Yesterday I visited Cynthia Sax’s Taste of Cyn blog to talk about Danger in the Stars – she created to so cool meme above – here’s a sample of the Q&A:
Cynthia Sax: Where did you get the idea for Danger in the Stars?
Veronica Scott: When I was writing Star Cruise: Stowaway for the ‘Pets In Space’ anthology last year, I had the premise of an empathic alien priestess stolen from her own world and held captive by an interstellar crime syndicate to do their bidding. In that novella, the story wa...

Punching a hole in the wall was probably the only thing...

Guest Liza O’Connor Talks SciFi Romance SCAVENGER VANISHES
[image error]Liza: Two hundred years ago, before the terror wars changed Earth, rules to prevent inappropriate relationships and coercion between high-ranking personnel and their subordinates existed in the USA armed forces.
But it never worked well…
Now, 200 years into our future, MAC, the artificial intelligence that runs the SkyRyder Corps, evaluates all personnel and ranks them on their abilities, thus the need to prevent an officer from fraternizing or having sex with someone beneath them is not agai...
