For those of you unfamiliar with Bollywood, my character Ajay in Awake would be the guy here. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t have Shahrukh Khan in mind when I wrote the character, though that would go for his basic looks and job only. Ajay is fictional.
The facts about Bollywood music that I wrote about in the novel are all true. The actors, by and large, don’t do their own singing (though you might hear Sanjay Dutt, or recently, Salman Khan make an attempt), but they do work damn hard on all that dancing. Popular playback singers will be the voice for many different actors, usually not in the same film… but sometimes. It all depends on where the song ends up in the film.
Bollywood is cheesy. Let’s just say it. The movies are long (2.5 - 3 hours), and they’re musicals. But they’re also about escape. Though I’ve never lived in India, part of my family does, so I know it can be difficult there. But you know what? Life everywhere can be hard, and sometimes it’s nice to kick back with a good movie. Indian cinema takes you on a journey. You laugh, you cry, you sing (you swoon at the lead actor/actress).
Netflix has quite a few available to stream, so you should check them out.

This seems like it would be so obvious, but I’ve never seen it anywhere before, nor have I thought of it myself.

~StarLock~
I had planned to do this piece if I got into 221BCon vendors… but I didn’t and I decided to do it anyway! Since Star Trek and Sherlock Holmes indeed have a history together… I’ve wanted to do this piece for a long time =)
The episodes where they did this were some of my favorites.
