Why do you think there haven't been siblings for the other girls in actual doll form?

Actually I misspoke! Nellie is not only the best friend to Samantha, but also her sister! Adopted siblings are valid and loved.

So I reckon that siblings weren’t ever produced simply because of the size difference. Younger and older siblings would need to be smaller and larger, and that would be way too much work for AG to put into producing. It’s a whole new face mold, wig size, body size, limb size…. just not worth it! Wellies work great as younger siblings, though, and also stand alone as their own characters, so it all worked out well in that case.

Thank you for saying that the American Girl podcast is problematic at best. I thought about listening to it....

I’d say that at worst it’s problematic but at best its existence is a mystery, since I am really not sure what audience it’s for.

You know what I think, I would still love to see a podcast that’s actually for fans and talks about a variety of topics. Like open each episode with some news on new books and products, then continue on into a read-along with the books, including the mysteries. With product discussion as well, covering some of the more less-remembered product lines like Coconut and Licorice, or Girls of Many Lands. Have guests on like Valerie Tripp or the author of the blog A Peek Into the Pantry, which is a fantastic blog written by someone who definitely is a historian.

If I had the equipment and someone who wanted to be a co-host, I’d do it myself. Maybe I still will someday. It would have a very small audience but it might be fun to do!

I reblog this every time I see it, because it’s one of life’s hardest lessons.

“Do or do not, there is no try” is the worst damn advice I was ever been given as a child. Fuck telling kids that their mistakes are the result of deliberate choice; let them know that they can fail for reasons totally beyond their control, and let them know that it’s just important that they earnestly try.

I can’t believe Captain Picard learned everything he knows from Beyoncé.

Always reblog Picard and Beyoncé

Pretty sure Picard was talking to Wesley in this scene, which makes me 2 degrees of Beyonce, and I AM HERE FOR IT.
