The amount of notes this doesn’t have bothers me…

Steve Perry on Midnight Special circa 1978

Why did I not know this guy was adorable? I heard this music my whole life (and liked it to a certain degree. Mostly I tuned it into the background), but just recently I watched a Journey music video when I was on a YouTube 80s music kick, and all I could think was, “That’s what this voice looks like?” I for some reason thought he would look like David Lee Roth in all his spandex and too-smiley and all the hairspray. (He gets pretty seriously on my nerves, tbh.)

But … yeah.

The blonde guy with the mustache is sure rocking the eye contact …

Oh well. I’m 30 years late catching on, but at least I did, right?

2.10.16

Larry Wilmore speaks to 11-year-old activist, Marley Dias, who has collected about 1,000 books with Black girls as main characters after she became frustrated with always “reading about White boys and dogs” in school.

Yes! I’ve loved following this story. Marley for President.

So many plots get reused to death. I agree with her so much that you need to be able to read books about people like yourself – if you can’t relate to the character, it’s so difficult to get through the book. At the same time, I love reading about people who are different than me, so it’s a win/win for having more diverse books.
