It had never occurred...
It had never occurred to Castiel that there was something missing, something more to want from life, because the experience of emotion, human emotion, had always been looked down upon as a weakness and deemed off limits by his kind. He had not allowed himself to want these things, because he believed they could never be his. Yet here was another angel using her last moments on earth, freely embracing all it meant to be human…and the floor beneath hadn’t opened up to swallow any of them whole, at least not yet. Was everything he held true a lie? Did he have a choice?
For the first time the tiniest conflicted pangs of lust and envy arose within Castiel. With those two sins he had already begun to fall; in more ways than one.
