"The fundamental difference between the 19th century romantic novels and the contemporary romances..."

““The fundamental difference between the 19th century romantic novels and the contemporary romances that borrow heavily from them is in the self-possession of the heroines. Although the unmarried and all but dowerless Elizabeth Bennet and the orphan governess Jane Eyre are in positions of greater social vulnerability than their contemporary counterparts, neither 19th-century heroine is willing to sacrifice self-respect in order to gain financial security or love. …By contrast, the scenes in which Bella Swan and Anastasia Steele literally fall at the heroes’ feet and rely on the heroes’ strength to stand foreshadow each heroine’s willingness to stay in a relationship with a man whose dominance overwhelms her sense of self, and without whom she seems lost.””

realornahtreal:

“President Snow used to…sell me…my body, that is,” Finnick begins in a flat, removed tone.

“I wasn’t the only one. If a victor is considered desirable, the president gives them as a reward or allows people to buy them for an exorbitant amount of money. If you refuse, he kills someone you love. So you do it. I wasn’t the only one, but I was the most popular. And perhaps the most defenceless, because the people I loved were so defenceless. To make themselves feel better, my patrons would make presents of money or jewellery, but I found a much more valuable form of payment. Secrets.

And this is where you’re going to want to stay tuned, President Snow, because so very many of them were about you. But let’s begin with some of the others. And now, on to our good President Coriolanus Snow. Such a young man when he rose  to power. Such a clever one to keep it. How, you must ask yourself, did he do it? One word. That’s all you really need to know. Poison.

can we just talk about how proud i am that sam got this role? SO happy for him

The Twelve Apostles in Australia

Want to see more? Head on over to The Twelve Apostles’ location page, as well as the #12apostles hashtag.

The 12 Apostles are a collection of rugged limestone rock stacks that rise up from the Southern Ocean on Victoria, Australia’s coastline. They were created by continual erosion of the coastal cliffs caused by the harsh weather conditions of the Southern Ocean.

Over millions of years, they have transformed from caves in the cliffs into arches that eventually collapsed to become nine 45 meter rock stacks. Today, there are only eight stacks remaining due to further erosion from waves that continue to threaten their existence. If given the chance, head to Australia to see these beautiful sleeping giants before they are gone!
