A Knitting Update

Many of the Craftsy classes are up to 50% til midnight so I figured it was a perfect time to stock up on a few classes in my wishlist. Now I just have to decide which one to watch first! Stashbusting with Clara Parkes will be great to learn what I can do with single and double skeins of yarn I have piling up.  Improve Your Knitting may help me understand some terminology I tend to struggle with and hopefully teach me a few more little tricks. And My First Socks- I have felt so intimidated about knitting socks so I figured this would be a great way to knit through my first pair with a class type atmosphere. If you haven't taken any of these classes yet, I highly recommend them. I learned SO much about knitting when I was first trying to learn on needles.

So a few weekends ago, I jetted down to Rhinebeck NY with Nancy and attended our very first Wool and Yarn Fest. It was INSANE. I haven't even seen that many people there for the Country Living Fair, which really draws a huge crowd. We saw lots of sheep, Beautiful hand-dyed Yarn, and wool roving. Got to meet a few popular people in the knitting world as well such as Clara Parkes, and one of our favorite designers Joji Locatelli.  Very exciting stuff.   We really had a blast and are looking forward to going back next year. It can't come soon enough really!

We'll definitely be prepared, I purchased us a few of these fun yarn totes from CafePress.com. I laugh myself silly every time I look at this. Joe thinks I've gone completely mad. Maybe I have.

We didn't take very many pictures at the yarn fest unfortunately. Did I mention how insane it was? Some booths you could barely even get in to, to look at displays. Taking my phone out for some pics really seemed out of the question.

I did bring home a nice pile of goodies. I didn't go crazy- Just got a few things that could work with several types of projects in my wishlist on Ravelry.

Some of my favorite vendors were Scandanavian Weave & Knit, Miss Babs, Neighborhood Fiber Co. and that multi colored goodness was from Feederbrook Farm. I already used it to knit up an infinity scarf,

and that wine colored yarn from Scandanavian Weave & Knit is being worked up into a bobble edged shawl as we speak.

It's going very well but I did make a mistake early on that I have yet to figure out how I will remedy. I picked up stitches along the bobble edge, in the wrong direction and now the provisional cast on is at the triangle point instead of at the left corner.  hmmm?? How I did that, I'm not sure.

This past week I was having fun creating some pieces featuring some left over yarn - if you didn't see them on social media, here are some pics of those pieces...

Fall is in the air

I am busy busy busy, getting jewelry - MORE jewelry made for my shops so I can earn a little extra cash for a special road trip this weekend. I am heading out of town with Nancy to hit up the Sheep and Wool Fest in Rhinebeck, NY!  It is so exciting because there is going to be a boatload of vendors there selling all types of wool and yarn. We'll probably pet a sheep or two which, hey. That's fun!
And I've been finding out that a few of my favorite Knit designers will be there as well!  I just can't wait. And if I can come home with a few little souvenirs, I'll be so stoked :)

Here are some pieces from today's session, to be listed later today...

Knitless: 50 No Knit Stash busting YARN Projects:: THE BLOG TOUR

Ever wonder what to do with all of those half used balls of yarn you have lying around after you finish a project? Don't ditch em! There are many fun projects that you can use those for, and all you have to do is pick up this brand new book by Laura McFadden. Knitless: 50 No-Knit, Stash-Busting Yarn Projects is a soft cover, full color, 154 page book FULL of art inspired tutorials on busting into that leftover stash of yarn.

I have handfuls of these small balls of yarn and I have dog-eared about 10 projects from the book that I want to try out. Unfortunately, being the start of show season, I wasn't able to try anything out before I did my scheduled blog post today.  I particularly love all of the jewelry projects, and there are 9 in this book!  Everything from a yarn tassel necklace, to yarn wrapped bangles-  you certainly don't need to be at any certain skill level- there is something for everyone!

Be sure to check out the blog tour this month, here are a list of the blogger participants- and I'm sure you'll be able to see some of the projects that have already been tried and true!

Get Ready for a Show!

I'm currently in panic mode but what better way to procrastinate show prep, than blogging!  If you are in the New York State area this weekend, why not take a nice scenic drive to the Cherry Valley, Sharon Springs is hosting their annual Harvest Festival and yours truly will be there all weekend selling my wares.   #sharonspringsharvestfestival
I will be located on South Street, along ETSY alley, where I was located last year.  But on the far end towards Willow st.  I have lots of new beauties that are going to be available at the show. Unfortunately, not too much in the way of tin, but if you like my one of a kinders, than you are IN LUCK!  #etsyharvestfestival2015

The show opens at 10 and lasts till 5pm both Saturday and Sunday. There will be a boatload of vendors this year. Last year this show pulled in over 15,000 people visiting this quaint little town in upstate NY.  Come on down, you won't regret it and the weather is supposed to be PERFECT!

Upcoming shows:

This weekend: SHARON SPRINGS HARVEST FESTIVAL, Sharon Springs, NY

Oct. 17. 1-5pm OPEN HOUSE at my home, New Hartford NY. I'll have some snacks available for shoppers, and some tasty beverages too!  Get a head start on your Christmas shopping~!

Nov. 20-22 INDIE GARAGE SALE Pop Up Shop at the old Circuit City bldg in Sangertown Square mall. I will be there selling a table full of jewelry. This show will continue through the season each weekend leading up to Christmas, but I'll ONLY be there on NOV 20-22!. So save the date!
