Terribly, Terribly Quiet
As someone pointed out, I’ve been rather quiet recently.
That’s partially because I took a holiday. It was sort of a working holiday since I was scouting out Cornish villages for the next Reality Hack book, but it was a holiday. I needed it. I’ve been having trouble holding focus. So…
The current state of play is that I’ve picked up the Fox Meridian book I was writing, and that is (very likely) going to be the next one out. It’s currently called Dominance, but I’m not absolutely sure that title is going to stick through to publication. I just ground to a halt with the Ultrahumans book, though there’s a chunk written and I mean to get it and its sequel out as soon as I can. I’m going to add a new section to the ‘What Am I Doing’ page called Doldrums; it’s for books I have plotted and partially written, but the wind has gone out of their sails.
The Reality Hack sequel has some chance of coming in the next few months, though I still don’t have the precise course of the plot worked out. I was wandering around Cornish villages (and driving down roads that get narrower, and narrower, and narrower…) and having great ideas, but they don’t make a whole book yet.
So, that’s the update. It’s been an absolutely miserable day here in Manchester and I feel like someone sucked all the energy out of me. I’m falling asleep in my desk chair. This is never a good thing and results in really bad neck ache. I am going to do something to try and wake up before I go to bed.
What? It made sense to me.

Misfit Witchart
You asked for it, so I did it. Mostly. Someone wanted a picture of the tanglecats and, sorry, but my modelling isn’t up to feathered cats. My modelling is barely up to cubes and planes. Sorry this took a while to get done; I’ve been up to my eyeballs in getting the next Fox book sorted.
Anyway, more Misfits artwork, including Ramona, Azuria, Cadenza, Scintilla Rainshadow, and some Krystal-in-scales shots, including the concept art for the epilogue scene.

They Finally Did It
Just had to post this… Jodie Whittaker is to be the 13th Doctor. They finally did it and I have to say I’m looking forward to next season more than I was.
Huh. If they brought Bill back, which I don’t think they will, that’d make for an interesting dynamic. Not sure they’d go there, but… Another interesting thought is what they’ll do with the companion(s).
Well, Ms Whittaker was in Attack the Block, so she should be used to running and aliens.

Now available (in Amazon soon), the next instalment of the Misfits series. I had absolutely no idea what to do for the cover of this, until this idea hit me this week. Honestly, I think it’s one of the better ones I’ve done, even if it’s a little dark in places.

More Fox/V8
I’ve put together a small collection of some more Fox concept art I produced since I got the V8 version together. There’s not a bad pinup there, but for the digital art, “wow, that looks real” guys it’s also a great close-up of her face so you can see things like the tiny hairs along her jaw and ears which just add a hint of realism. Not sure why I bother with that kind of thing, tbh, because the book covers are usually rendered at a distance where you can’t tell… I didn’t think I was that much of a perfectionist.

Hot; too hot
The United Kingdom has a unique climate. Our weather tends to avoid the extremes you see in Europe. We don’t (usually) get the real highs or lows. I’ve sat in summer temperatures in the Netherlands which were over 30C (86F) while the UK was in the 20s. This is great, most of the time, but it means that when we do get extremes, we aren’t set up to cope.
We don’t get real highs, so we don’t have air conditioning. Oh, I could really go for air conditioning right now. I was cooler in Arizona in the summer.

Genesis 8
Genesis 8 (female) is out with a load of clever new stuff… Usual marketing blurb… What can I do with it?
Well, Fox was my first G3/V7 character, so I figured I’d see if I could recreate her using G8/V8. It took… quite a while, but I got this in the end…
Looks pretty much like her, I think. I’ll probably play more tomorrow.
