Monday Moves

Welcome to another Monday Moves! Today I'm featuring a move by one of my favorite young pairs, a team I think will definitely be making waves this next Olympic cycle - Tarah Kayne and Daniel O'Shea. They have the technical ability and the intangible fire to be a force on the world scene, and I'm so excited to see what the future holds for them! Their programs are loaded with interesting transitions, and one of the moves I loved in their Dox Quixote program this year was when they did spirals...

Monday Moves

Hello again, Monday! In today's Monday Moves I'm featuring a move by a skater who had his final competitive skate over the weekend at the world championships. Jeremy Abbott saved his best for last with his beautiful and inspiring performance of his Muse long program. There are many gorgeous moves in the program, but one that stands out to me as so emotionally effective is when he stops during his footwork and slaps his palm to the ice. It's the perfect move for that moment in the music.

Monday Moves

Welcome to another edition of Monday Moves! This week I'm going back a few years to a move by 2006 World Champion Kimmie Meissner. I loved her 2008-2009 short program to "Un Ange Passe," and I found one move in the program particularly lovely - her back spiral into double Axel into forward spiral. I wish Kimmie had been able to compete at nationals that year!

Monday Moves

Happy Monday! I've been looking forward to this Monday for weeks because tonight is the season premiere of Dancing With the Stars, and Meryl Davis and Charlie White are part of the cast! So, for today's Monday Moves I'm highlighting my favorite ice dance lift of all time - Meryl and Charlie's "swoop" lift from their 2008-09 Samson and Delilah free dance. SO romantic and absolutely perfect for the music:

Watch Meryl and Charlie compete against each other this season on DWTS! Meryl will be partn...

Monday Moves

Happy Monday! For today's Monday Moves, I started watching one of my favorite group numbers from Stars on Ice, and there were so many beautiful moves I loved that I couldn't pick just one! "Both Sides Now" featured Kristi Yamaguchi, Jenni Meno, and Denis Petrov. It is GORGEOUS. All the spirals, the lifts, the flowing choreography that connected all three of them seamlessly on the ice. It's a stunning performance!

Monday Moves

Monday Moves is back! I'm still going through Olympic withdrawals, so I've been watching a lot of old skating videos. To honor one of the skaters who's retiring this season, I'm spotlighting Brian Joubert today and his "point and wink" move from his 2008-2009 short program. I had the great fortune of being in the second row at the world championships in L.A. that year and being directly in Brian's line of sight when he performed this move. And I swooned out of my seat. We will miss you dearly...

CROSSING THE ICE Teaser

Are you ready for a new love story on the ice? I'm working on an EDGE series spin-off novel that follows Courtney's journey as she and her partner Mark try to make the 2010 Olympic team. Working title is CROSSING THE ICE :) Here's a little bit more about it!

2014 Olympics - Meet the U.S. Ladies

Today is the ladies' short program in Sochi, so let's get to know the U.S. ladies team!
Gracie Gold
Gracie Gold trains in El Segundo, California and won her first national title last month. She burst onto the junior scene a couple of years ago and immediately had people talking because of her huge tripe-triple combinations. She was a little rough around the edges artistically, but since she's teamed up with legendary coach Frank Carroll I see a huge difference in her carriage and presentation....
