The Road to Nowhere Unpublished

Thank you for everyone who has reviewed The Road to Nowhere! It was extremely appreciated. I was able to take in what worked well and what needed adjusting. I am unpublishing the novel while I make minor changes to resolve what did not work.

The Novel will be available for free on December 24th for a five day period along with Chance Escape, The Red (Palmer's story), and an additional short story in the Chance Escape Series.

Also, in October I used a service called bookrooster, which connects an author's book with honest reviewers in exchange for a copy of the book. I only received one review from them, but it was helpful as well. I would not recommend the service though. http://www.bookrooster.com/

Last month 671 copies were sold. Ranking, sales, etc- I am not too concerned about, which is why starting fresh back from scrap doesn't bother me. My first month published, I think I sold 30 copies... I'll probably start all over again (around the 30-50 copies a month). If you'd like to help me, placing a review after reading the newest December version would help as well as product likes and tags.

So far, all of the reviewers have been spot on, and professionally opinionated.  Thank you!

Please feel free to grab a free copy in December and re-publish a review for The Road to Nowhere. Sorry for the hassle, but changes need to be made!

A little over 1,400 sales in two months and very few reviews... I wonder if others have the same difficulty getting product reviews. I'm always astonished when a product gets 11 reviews or more in one month (when it is the author's first book on Amazon), when my experience has been 10 in a year and one through a book exchange for review. Anyway, this month is a very slow month for me, so I'll take advantage of my time and work on The Road to Nowhere. I think book two has a lot less that needed fixing. Well, I have remained busy, and after December, I will work hard to get book 2 out and ready for all.

take care-

Also, someone hacked into my yahoo email a few weeks ago. Please email any questions to lee.argus80@gmail.com--- I use a Japanese password, so it's not like it was common, and I never used the password for another  site. I'm honestly puzzled. Anyway, yahoo is looking into it... so hopefully I'll recover it, and perhaps use a more complex password.

Emails

My inbox is full of messages I need to go through ( I have 200+ emails; most are probably spam. I took a glance though, and noticed that there are several emails that I need to respond to. It's been 2-3 months since I've last checked it. I'm moving into a new place this week, and have been packing for the last few months. I will get back to everyone as soon as I can. I apologize for the delay.

Also, my new web site will be unlocked in December. I will have free direct downloads available and a few other interesting things.  My novelette and short story won't be available on amazon or anywhere else. Since they're not full lengths, I want to make sure no one has to purchase them.

Chance Escape will absolutely be published on December 23rd- the 28th of this year. It will be the special edition containing Chance Escape book one, the tie-in novelette, and filler short story of what happened to Ray and Julia before book two begins. The specail edition will come off the market once the free promo days are completed, then the standard edition will take its place, with the inclusion of the short story at the end, minus the novelette in the same series.

Thank you to everyone who has placed a review!

Updating everyone on current events

It has been quite a while since my last post. The Road to Nowhere (book 1) is the only novel currently available on amazon.

It's the same book from early in 2011. Chance Escape had been released for a short period of time, but then had been removed.

For some reason, I've been struggling with getting the pace of Chance Escape right. I went back a month ago and made a few changes that I had felt were necessary. I've added and took away scenes, and now it's sitting at 96,000 words. I still have the Epilogue to re-write. None of the plots points have changed, just some of the sentences needed to be revised.

I've been hoping to learn from the received reviews. Thank you for the reviews thus far. For a while, there was nothing. I was anxious and wondered if it would be liked.

I enjoy writing/ story telling, but sharing my work with others at first was nerve wrecking. Perhaps I was more in fear of someone saying, "It was horrible. Utterly a waste of time."

Thankfully, there has been no such reviews (thus far).

I've spent a great deal of time on these two works of fiction. I hope, for the most part, that these books will be enjoyed by a majority of the readers.

I don't think I'll follow up on the status of my novels. Maybe once every six months, I'll check on the reviews and the ranking. I am open to suggestions, so for that reason, I will take reviews into consideration.

Chance Escape will be out once again (and remain published) soon. I cannot give a date as of yet. I do know that it will not be published this month. I apologize to those who have yet to read it.

As soon as it is out, I will focus my attention of book two of The Road to Nowhere, then release what was titled "Down and Out" as "Contention" then proceed to Chance Escape book 2.

As far as the paper back version of The Road to Nowhere. It is published through lulu. The price is ridiculously too much. It was actually near the minimum amount required for publication on amazon. I believe I will receive 27 cents per paper back sold (or somewhere along those lines) even though it is priced at 19.95 (I believe)- I could be off on the figures here, but I'm running late and have to go soon, so I won't bother checking. The price is set as such due to the book length. Sadly, Chance Escape is much larger. I dread seeing the price of the finished paper back.

Create Space is more reasonable, so I'll have to make it available through them (though it will take several weeks to process and show up on amazon). I may be wrong, but it was closer to 11.99 for my paper back version of The Road to Nowhere, set for the accepted amazon price.

Again my share is next to nothing-

I do apologize for the price of it.

***

On to other matters

Currently, The Road to Nowhere is selling about a 300 copies a month 250 last month.

The first month it had sold roughly about 78 copies, then has been increasing since.

I am not bragging since this is nothing to brag about. I just wanted to share my figures with those future writers considering publishing on amazon. (Yes, I am aware that sales vary on genre and a number of factors.)

I believe The Road to Nowhere's ranking ranges from 9,000- 14,000 (sometimes in the 30,000's) It's been a while since I've checked. I believe it sat at 94 in the occult/ horror in the bestselling last week. Again, I have yet to check this weeks status, but I won't concern myself with rankings much longer. I was suppose I was just curious as to how the rankings worked and related to the sales figures, being that I was not quite sure.

***

It has been a slow year and a half (or near to), as far as my part in publishing new works. I feel awful about this, but at the same time, I know that I took the time to seek imperfections and re-write where needed. I'd hate to be considered as a hack writer. The quality of my hobby does matter to me.  I hope it shows.

****

Some readers say Chance Escape is a notch above The Road to Nowhere, others say the opposite.

I don't really have an opinion. I wonder if other authors have difficulty judging their own works as I do.

****

I have yet to check my emails.

If you are interested in receiving my free eBooks for your kindle or kindle for pc, as they are published on amazon, I will be more than glad to send you a copy of each novel.

There are still a few readers I have promised Chance Escape to- as soon as it is ready, you will be among the first to have the novel.

my email is lee.argus80@gmail.com

feel free to email-

Random bits;

I've adopted a stray kitten. He had been emaciated to the point of death. I placed a can of tuna out for him, sat in place for thirty minutes (in the bushes behind my house) - then waited for him. That bush had been his home for the last few weeks. I'd tried to catch him before, but he had got away.

My neighbor had stepped outside and seen me in the bushes.I kept wondering if she had thought me to be a peeping tom, spying on the the house behind mine, or a burglar of some sort. I worried that if I didn't wave, she'd think I was suspicious, so I was forced to shout that I was trying to catch a stray cat. Hearing this, she gave me a nod and went back inside her house. I wonder what her thoughts were.

So far, progress is slow. He will let us pet him, but holding him is out of the question. I'd gotten my hand sliced up pretty good that way while carrying him inside.

****

My wife, daughter, and I are currently at Morgan Hill in a hotel. We'll be away from home for a day. I hope by the end of the week, the kitten will warm up to us. I've named him Mr. Friskers- If that name sounds familiar, you probably heard it in one of J.A. Konraths works. I thought he resembled the cat in his story and decided to name him that.

****

Alright, well, I have to go. The wifey is calling.

Take care!

December 24th&nb...

Update: Chance Escape is being edited.
December 24th Re-publication date (available for free for 5 days).
Para revisions are complete. I apologize for the delay.

Publication Date:

Readers,
bloggers, and literary aficionados,

I hate
to say this, and I don’t think there’s an easy way to break into this, so I’ll
get it off my chest; there’s going to be a delay in Chance Escape’s
publication. For those of you who purchased a copy in early February of 2011,
you will see several new changes to the final edition.

Thank
you for those who’ve expressed that they did enjoy the novel. Upon re-reading
it, I discovered that some of the wording needed revising.

Being
that it’s the final edition, I need to make sure I am content with the end
product (I had found it satisfactory before, but it could be better). The Road
to Nowhere, was more polished than Chance Escape, and had more re-writes than
any of my other works. I am working at a constant pace to bring Chance Escape
up to par.

Its new
publication date has been moved to the first of next month, as well as Palmer’s
novella since the two are in the same series.

As far
as the other publication dates, they remain the same, and will more than likely
be published a few months ahead of the listed date. The dates provided were “at
the latest” dates.

Once
Chance Escape book 1 is complete, it will remain available for purchase. As of
right now, The Road to Nowhere is the only title available.

I will
be doing a free promotion for Chance
Escape
to make up for this delay. (June
1st)
– mark your calendar!

Thank
you for reading this post-

As
always, do take care!

The Road to Nowhere, Chance Escape, and Randoms

I've been concentrating this past month on the animations for both the Road to Nowhere and Chance Escape. (I switch between the two)-

I had hired help, but I'm begining to question if I should stop and focus my attention elsewhere. Rendering scenes, editing key frames... getting the camera work (lighting/ angles), creating new charachters, and using multiple softwares (Sony vegas, sound forge, DAZ 3d, and a few others) is taking a lot of my time away. I keep reminding myself that the end product will be worth it, but progress is slow, real slow. Realistically, at the pace I'm going, it will take a year and a half for a film to be ready (Maybe I should make an episode for both titles instead of an hour + film.)- I'd have to re-write my script, well, shorten it, and cut a lot out.

I'm not far enough along to create a trailer just yet (but I do have clips ready for certain part of it)  I did slap together a basic, and I mean a real basic trailer with Taryn. It took literally about 10 minutes. There's no animation in it though. It's now on my author's page on amazon.

I have re-published The Road to Nowhere, and it will remain up this time, inspite of the lack of trailer I had wanted, and the lack of the audiobook still not ready. (It's about half-way through). For the mere purpose of the audio book, I've had to go back and make changes, to make it read better out loud. There were a few things that sounded tacky or off. Alot of re-writes have been put into both Chance Escape and The Road to Nowhere over the last two years, before that, they had never been touched. They were just collecting dust.

Origionally I was going to release Palmer's mini series, but I took out alot, and combined the three novellas, and made it into a short story. I know you're probably wondering why I would do something like that. Well, I didn't like all the details, the pace, and the amount of time it took to get from point A to point B. It's now a compressed version of all three.

I've written 15 novels, and many short stories, and a few novellas. I won't be publishing a few of my works, but most will become available throughout hopefully this year and next year.

I'm conflicted between going back and re-reading these, and doing a fair amount of re-writes, or making my animations, and audio books. I'm juggling school right now,  managing my shop, and spending time with the family. I'm not at all complaining, I just wish I could pick up my pace.

When I do re-writes, it's slow. I second guess my lines/ sentences. I usually do five re-writes of the re-writes (as a whole). It took me a year for most novels to be written, and the short stories, admittingly, took little to no time. They were the in betweens.

Contention (originally titled Down & Out has been re-written to a strict detective/ mystery novel. It veers out of the post-apocalyptic/horror genre. June 1st it "should" be in my hands as the final draft and ready for publishing. (I'll update you on that.)

The Road to Nowhere will be found on B&N, Smashwords, and in paperback within a month. For now it's only Amazon.

Chance Escape will follow the same publishing order. It should be up by next week.

****

On to other things :)

Last year, during my trip to vegas, I splurged and wasn't vegan. I had all sorts of pastas, chocolate, and sea food. That was the last time I was well, not myself ;)

I was driving and passed and In & Out burger (They used to be my once a week treat). Best low cal (compared to others) burgers. In fact the only burgers and fries I'd ever eat. I was with my wife when she said if there was one thing she missed while being vegan, it was In & Out. So we both got in line and ordered a grilled cheese with grilled onions (Basically a meatless burger.) My wife loved hers, but when she said she missed it, that's what she missed. She never ordered with meat on hers. It was always a grilled cheese with grilled onions. I know, it probably sounds weird, but they have a secret menu, like a five  by five animal style, and others. So I tried the grilled cheese for the first time. I never had a meatless during my days befor turning vegan. It wasn't as great as my wife always said it was, but it did satisy. Plus we both could eat the fries since they're not cooked with meat. Though we usually don't eat food fried in oil.

Technically we did break our vegan diets (due to the cheese and buns), but it wasn't something we felt guilty about. I think as a vegan, it's ok to allow yourself to have a treat every now and then, you shouldn't be too hard on yourself. (Perhaps someone would have a different opinon, but hell, as long as you try, that's what counts.)

My wife used to hate soy milk, but now she loves it, as well as rice milk and almond milk.

There's a must see movie called "Fork over knives."

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1567233/

I had no idea that milk had that effect on our bodies.

Anyway, blog later this month or next :)

until then,

Lee-

The Road to Nowhere and Chance Escape Updates

8:38 pm- update: formatting has been fixed. :)
Well, the Road to Nowhere is now published on amazon once again. It will become free at midnight or shortly after. It will remain free until midnight on the 24th.

This is the full length novel, never before released on amazon. (The first half had been released in early 2011.)

This book won't remain published, it's coming down off of amazon soon after the free promotion ends, so there's no need to post a review, unless you really wanted to.

Ok, there's one problem with the formatting right now, it should be fixed by noon tomorrow during the free promotion. Sorry about that.

Please don't buy the book today. Again, the formatting is off. Hopefully you'll be able to grab a copy tomorrow, if you're not too busy.

Thank you guys for the suggestions made, I went back and incorporated them into the book. You'll see that chapter one is noticeably different than the first version released in 2011.

As per Chance Escape, I wanted to release it today, but it's not going to happen. My editor sent me his final, and I sent him my last minute revisions, and now I'm waiting for him to proof it again. I take full responsibility for this, so again, sorry for the delay. It will be available for free on the 20th of next month, but again only for five days, then it will be removed from amazon.

My audio book for the Road to Nowhere is still in production as well as the animations for both books. This is why both books will not remain on amazon this year. Palmer (from chance Escape) has a mini series that will be coming out this year, so I'll update my blog when the novellas are up for free.

Mid to early next year these titles will stay on sites like B&N, Amazon, and so on.

Thank you for taking the time to read this post.

:)

March 30, 2012

April 20th 2012 The Road to Nowhere will be released and free on amazon. 2nd half with first half. New chapters and continuation.

April 20th 2012 The Road to Nowhere part two (The second half of book one will be released.) It will continue where it left off. It will be available for free for two days. I am unsure if I will leave it published. I may bring it down after the 21st.

I consider myself more of a writing hobbyist, I really wish there was an option to leave it for free for however long the author chooses on Amazon.

Well, as of right now all my books are off the web, with the exception of demonoid, but it is an earlier version of the first part of The Road to Nowhere and my previous editor had altered some of its contents, which is now fixed. The term Kuru and its origin of meaning I believe had been missing from the earlier version.

I will be placing it for free on smashwords on the 20th as well.

•I will also be releasing a short story a week after The Road to Nowhere.

Chance Escape will be re-released as well.

•° I cannot say I won't be back to blog again, since a needed announcement always occurs, instead I will say, if I do blog, it will be once or twice a month... until I get more free time on my hands.
