A Gotham Wind Blew that Night…

It’s a video teaser for a soon to begin Cat-Tale…

“A Gotham wind blew that night, picking up a chalky-metal smell off the river that left a taste in your mouth like blood and toothpaste”

Consider yourselves teased.

It’s a Foolish Girl Who Waits for Santa

christmas-audiobook-catwomans-origin-cattitude

“The insight into Selina’s mind and background was superb.”

“Selina had no ‘origin’ in the sense of one defining moment that made her Catwoman… but she hadn’t sprung out of the sidewalk at age 23 wearing a catsuit.”

It’s here at last, the Catwoman origin worthy of Selina Kyle is finally available as an audio book, read by the incomparable Caroline Sharp. Available for your listening (and downloading) pleasure at catwoman-cattales.com

“The tension (with Batman) made me gulp.”

“The insight into Selina’s mind and background was superb.”

“The series always implied Selina had a privileged childhood, and I never understood how such a blatant thief could possibly from the upper class. And now I read this. It just all comes together in such a beautiful way, and I see that it’s not only right, it’s the explanation of why Cat-Tales succeeds where so many Batman efforts fail. It’s truly the way Chris Dee understands the characters that makes your series so special.”

“Finally a Catwoman origin that makes sense. Cattitude demonstrates the one aspect of Selina Kyle’s past that all the comics and movies get wrong. Like Bruce, she comes from money. She lost her family, she lost the wealth. Her life since then has been leading either through choice or chance, toward reaquiring wealth. Maybe it’s because she thought, subconciously, in a way she didnt even realise till she started thinking back, that maybe if she got that one more trinket… The love and security she’d known would return.”

“As I suspected, Selina’s conclusion is that Bruce is part of what Sensei tried to teach her. She and Bruce are connected on some fundamental level. She is the yang to his yin (if I got that the right way around) the light to his darkness. She is the thing that will keep Bruce human and the Batman a thing of good.

And, yet, while Selina will never be complete without Bruce, he will never be complete without her. He is the rock and moral certainty to her confusion and internal conflict. He is the intellectual and stoic, she is the emotional and sensual. It isn’t that the two of them are dependent on the other, it is just that, in all the world, they are two beings who fit together perfectly. They could (and do) have a life without the other, but they would never really be happy.

I do think this is the beginning of something really wonderful.”

Fools and Drama Queens, As Wrong About Gotham as They Are About Selina…

Those not expecting to buy a bridge in Gotham tonight are invited to peruse a Catwoman origin worthy of the character and meet a Selina Kyle with the class and background to make her Batman and Bruce Wayne’s equal.

“Characters come alive, and when you’ve read them, you’ll never read Batman the same way again… and you’ll understand that the comics (and movies) truly do have Catwoman all wrong.”

“Short few paragraphs brilliatly illustrate why this Catwoman is the real one and the rest are cheap imitations. She’s brilliant, ferocious, is not afraid of anyone, but is sharp enough to accurately assess everyone, including Batman, and handle them accordingly.”

“I’ve rarely come across an author that is capable of consistently delivering such pathos and insight into characters and through the lens of the minds eye, insight into ourselves.”

Yes, Cat-Tales fans, I was going to save this announcement but Cattitude will be the next audio book read by Caroline Sharp and when you hear this sample, you will see (hear) why I couldn’t wait to share.

So this happened

On the off chance anyone’s forgotten where we left things, it went something like:

“Jason, don’t,” she whispered before it hit, then a dizzying spell gripped her mind like the flash of a distant explosion reaching her before the sound of the blast.  The first waves of fear and dread, moving at the speed of light, reaching her before anything else, then the concussive blast of betrayal, the pain and cruelty, treachery and lies.  Finally, the sound of the explosion: “Change, change the form of man; free the prince forever damned.  Free the might from fleshy mire; boil the blood in heart of fire.  Gone, gone the form of man, and…

Batman’s Day Eve

batman75-greetingsfrom-ras-al-ghul

The most illustrious Demon’s Head has just figured out the Internet. Tremble, Tumblr. Tremble in fear.

This is probably a good time to mention that if you take Ra’s al Ghul as seriously as he takes himself, Cat-Tales is not for you.

batman75-greetingsfrom-mr-freeze

It’s Batman Day Eve, and just in case you had any thoughts of enjoying it, Mr. Freeze would like to remind you that Life is nothing but a cold and hollow walk to the grave.

Also a good time to mention that nothing helps celebrate three-quarters of a century combating evil like the emo poetry of a human popsicle.

Happy Batman Day Minus-Two

As the march to Batman Day continues, so does the epic confusion about holding up signs on the Internet. You’re up, Harvey.

Batman Day Minus-2

But, but…  Oh why do I even bother.

Well, we knew his sign would be nonsense
