Vancouver

Vancouver has been on the global sports stage for more than a decade, ever since it hosted the 2010 Winyer Olympis Games. It also has a proven track record for hosting major soccer events, such as the FIFA Women’s World Cup final, held in Vancouver in 2015. Its games are bound to light up the city, as the Vancouver World Cup matches will be at BC Place — a venue smack in the middle of downtown just steps from sports bars waiting to welcome fans before and after the matches.

Getting to BC Place for Vancouver’s World Cup matches is straightforward, thanks to the city’s efficient public transit and walkable downtown.
BC Place is in downtown Vancouver and best reached via the city’s SkyTrain system, as the Stadium–Chinatown Station (on the Expo Line) is just steps from the stadium. However, the SkyTrain Vancouver City Centre Station (on the Canada Line) is also within easy walking distance. TransLink operates frequent trains and buses throughout the city, and service is typically usually increased for major events. You can pay with a Compass card, or just use a touch-to-pay program like Apple Wallet.
If you’re staying downtown, BC Place you may just be able to walk to BC Place, as the area is pedestrian-friendly. There are also bike share stations nearby, though bikes may get snapped up fast with so many people in town all trying to get to the same place.
Driving to BC Place is possible, but not recommended. Parking in downtown Vancouver is both expensive and limited, especially during major events. If you must drive, plan ahead and consider reserving a spot in advance. If you’re coming in from outside Vancouver, Pacific Central Station is the city’s main hub for trains and buses. From the station, it’s a short SkyTrain or taxi ride to BC Place.

Vancouver’s official FIFA Fan Festival for the 2026 World Cup is at Hastings Park, scheduled for June 11 to July 19. It’ll be a central social space for fans to watch games and socialized during the World Cup, with matches shown on a huge screen inside the to-be-built Freedom Mobile Arch Amphitheatre. It’ll hold 10,000 people and show all the games. There will also likely be live music, cultural performances, art installations, and interactive sports exhibits (including lawn games and laid-back outdoor draws). The Fan Festivals are family-friendly and always free. Expect large crowds during all matches, but especially when team Canada is playing.

The city’s focus will probably be on soccer when June and July 2026 roll around — but that doesn’t mean yours has to be. Vancouver has unbeatable access to outdoor recreation, as far as cities go, and is also quite close to other great destinations like Vancouver Island, Whistler, and the Sea to Sky Highway. Here’s what else you need to make the most of your trip.
Toronto

The world’s biggest sporting event is coming to Canada for the first time, and Toronto is one of two Canadian cities — alongside Vancouver — set to host matches during the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The city will stage six fixtures at BMO Field, including the historic opener featuring the Canadian Men’s National Team.
BMO Field sits along Lake Ontario in Exhibition Place, a hub for major events. It’s being upgraded with temporary seating to expand capacity from around 30,000 to over 40,000, plus enhancements to video boards, lighting, and concessions to handle increased crowds. The stadium is one of the easiest to access in any host city, connected by TTC streetcars, GO Transit at Exhibition Station, and walkable routes from Liberty Village and Parkdale. It’s also just minutes from downtown, waterfront parks, and restaurants. It’s a natural fit for hosting FIFA World Cup matches, especially given its vibrant, multi-cultural neighborhoods, and history of hosting major events.

BMO Field is in western Toronto, on the water within Exhibition Place. It’s pretty easy to reach on public transportation from most hotels in the city. The fastest and most popular option is the GO Train from Union Station to Exhibition GO Station. Trains run every 30 minutes and take less than 10 minutes, followed by a quick three-minute walk to the stadium. Several bus routes, including the 307 and 363, also stop nearby.
If you feel like stretching your legs, you can also walk to the stadium. It takes about 45 minutes to an hour from Union Station.
Driving is possible, but you’ll find the usual problems with cities, including a lack of parking and hevay traffic. Given how easy the stadium is to reach on public transportation, driving is probably your worst option. A better bet could be a taxis or rideshares, though you’ll want to walk about 15-20 minutes from the stadium after the match to have a better chance of catching a taxi (and not sitting in return traffic).

Toronto’s official FIFA Fan Festival will be at the Fort York National Historic Site and The Bentway, two iconic venues just west of downtown and adjacent to one another. It’ll show all the matches between June 11 and July 19 and will be totally free to attend. Expect giant screens for watching the games, as well as plenty to do between games, like music and dance performances, art and interactive installations, and a whole host of food and drink vendors. It’s accessible by public transportation and fairly close to BMO Field.

Seattle

Seattle is the only city in the Pacific Northwest chosen to host 2026 FIFA World Cup matches — and it’s not surprising. The city’s soccer roots run deep, from the long history of the Sounders to a vibrant community culture that regularly fills the stadium with some of the most energetic fans in North America. Seattle has one of the highest rates of soccer participation in the country, and its fan culture — marked by colorful marches, long green scarves, coordinated chants, and a welcoming spirit for anyone rooting for the hometown heroes — has become legendary among visiting teams and supporters alike.

Lumen Field is located just south of downtown Seattle and is easily accessible by public transportation, car, or on foot, in most cases. If you’re staying downtown, the stadium is a 15–20 minute walk from most central hotels.
Public transit is also easy. King County Metro buses run between downtown and the stadium, and routes 21, 101, 150, or 550 will drop you within a short walk of Lumen Field. Alternatively, you can take the Sound Transit Link Light Rail to the International District/Chinatown or Stadium stations, both about a 10-minute walk from the entrance. On the train, the King Street Station (Amtrak and Sounder commuter rail) is only a five-minute walk from the stadium. The easiest way to pay for public transportation is to download the Transit GO Ticket app in advance and buy a digital pass, though you can also buy tickets from machines at every station.
If you’re considering driving, parking is available at several lots around the stadium, but it fills up quickly on match days. You’ll probably want to reserve a spot in advance online or, better yet, use public transit.

San Francisco Bay Area

The San Francisco Bay Area is set to play a prominent role in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, hosting six matches at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara. Here’s what you need to know about why the region was chosen, how to get to the games, and tips for making the most of your visit this July.
SF may not have its own major league soccer team, but it has a rich soccer history, diverse population, and world-class infrastructure. In 1994, it was one of nine cities in the US that hosted the FIFA World Cup, so it has a strong tradition of supporting both international and domestic soccer. The Bay Area’s diversity and internationalism, unbeatable connectivity, and vibrant, accepting fan culture made it an obvious choice for FIFA in 2026.

Levi’s Stadium is about 45 minutes south of San Francisco by car, but getting there on public transportation is straightforward (though it requires a transfer).
The first option is to take Caltrain to Mountain View Station (about an hour). At Mountain View, transfer to the VTA Light Rail’s Orange Line toward Alum Rock. Exit at the Great America Station next to Levi’s Stadium’s north entrance. The light rail segment takes about 35 minutes. Give yourself about two hours to make the trip just to be safe, though that’s probably a little overkill.
Alternatively, you can take BART to the Millbrae Station or Milpitas Station to catch Caltrain, if where you’re staying in the city is closer to a station. You’ll then do the same thing (take Caltrain to Mountain View, then transfer to the Light Rail).
For payment, use a Clipper Card, which works on both Caltrain and VTA. You can use a physical card or buy one on the Clipper phone app.

Philadelphia

Philadelphia is one of 16 North American cities selected to host matches during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with Lincoln Financial Field set to stage six games, including a Round of 16 match on July 4 — coinciding with the United States’ 250th anniversary. The stadium is accessible via SEPTA’s Broad Street Line and multiple bus routes, making it convenient for visitors to reach from various parts of the city.
That will make it easy to reach no matter where you stay, but you should expect some crowds. In summer 2026, Philly is also hosting the 96th annual Major League Baseball All-Star Game (the fourth time it’s hosted), and there’s a huge lineup of events celebrating America’s 250th birthday. That means you should book your hotel or Airbnb early, even if there’s a chance you may cancel down the road. You should also snag your tickets for matches early, though they’re not yet on sale as of May 2025.

Lincoln Financial Field is in South Philadelphia, only about five miles from downtown. You can reach the stadium from most downtown hotels by taking SEPTA’s Broad Street Line to NRG Station — it’s easy, as it’s both the last stop and directly next to the station. The ride usually only takes 20 minutes or so, depending on where you’re staying.
Driving is an option, but traffic can be heavy on event days, and given the simplicity of public transportation, that’s highly advisable. If you choose to drive, multiple parking lots surround the venue; pre-booking through Lincoln Financial Field Parking is strongly advised. Rideshare drop-offs and pick-ups are designated along South Broad Street and Pattison Avenue and are readily available on game and match days, too.

On event days, the most efficient way to reach MetLife stadium is via public transportation on the NJ Transit Meadowlands Rail Line, running between Secaucus Junction and the Meadowlands Station (adjacent to the stadium). If you’re coming from NYC, you’ll need to take the NJ Transit train from New York Penn Station to Secaucus Junction, then transfer to the Meadowlands Rail Line. The entire trip typically takes about 45 minutes, though travel times may vary on event days.
Alternatively, Coach USA operates the 351 Meadowlands Express bus service between the Port Authority Bus Terminal in Manhattan and MetLife Stadium. This direct bus service is available on event days and provides a convenient option for attendees.
For those opting to drive, expect traffic. Parking is available on site, but spaces can fill quickly during major events. It’s advisable to purchase parking passes in advance through the MetLife Stadium parking portal. Miami

Miami is one of the liveliest and highest-energy cities hosting matches during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and it’s hard to imagine a better place to watch the world’s biggest tournament. With seven games scheduled at Hard Rock Stadium (including knockout rounds), fans can expect not just world-class soccer, but an electric, city-wide atmosphere that reflects Miami’s global roots and passion for the game. The city’s deep Latin American and Caribbean influences mean fútbol is a part of daily life from the earliest ages, and that culture will likely spill into the strees during the Miami World Cup matches — expect impromptu watch parties, flag-draped celebrations, and nonstop nightlife.
But what makes Miami especially appealing for out-of-town visitors is what’s waiting off the pitch: South Beach, art-filled neighborhoods, and fantastic food ranging from Haitian griot or Cuban lechón. It’s also one of the rare cities where you can catch a World Cup match in the afternoon and be swimming in the ocean or sipping cocktails on a catamaran by sunset. It’s a city Matador Network is especially enthused about come 2026.

Hard Rock Stadium is in Miami Gardens, about 15 miles north of downtown Miami. Driving is the most direct option. It would normally take about only about 20 minutes, but expect delays on match days, especially when it comes to parking. There is quite a bit of parking at the stadium, but pre-booking is highly recommended through the Hard Rock Stadium parking portal.
Unfortunately, public transportation to the stadium is more limited. You can take the Metrorail to the Golden Glades Interchange or Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Station, but from there, you’ll need to use a rideshare or taxi to reach the stadium. However, on select event days, shuttle services may be available from major hubs. Keep an eye on the for potential details about shuttles and other transportation options.
The Miami World Cup FIFA Fan ZoneIt’s not final as of publication, but the official FIFA Fan Festival for Miami will likely take place at Bayfront Park in downtown. It’s a central location on the waterfront that would be ideal for live match viewing during all the games, as well as concerts, food vendors, games, and more. Official FIFA Fan Festivals are free, so you can attend whether you have tickets to some other games, or didn’t snag tickets at all. Other possible locations could be Lumus Park or the Miami Beach Convention Center, but no final details have been announced. Keep an eye on this page for more information and hours. There’s so much do in the 305 that there’s no way you could fit it all into one quick trip, especially if you’re spending days at the Miami World Cup matches, too. But in case you don’t snag tickets for all seven games, here’s what else to do to fill your time in the fun, colorful city.

Mexico City

Mexico City is poised to be a centerpiece of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, hosting five matches at the iconic Estadio Azteca — officially renamed Estadio Banorte in early 2025 — including the opening match on June 11, 2026. As the only city to host matches in three different World Cups (1970, 1986, and now 2026), Mexico City holds a special place in the sport’s legacy. Estadio Azteca has witnessed historic moments, including Pelé’s triumph in the 1970 World Cup final and Diego Maradona’s legendary “Hand of God” goal during the 1986 quarter-final. In addition to its status on soccer’s global stage, Mexico City’s massive fan base, its expansive public transportation network, and its reputation as a cultural and tourism hotspot make it an excellent choice to host the opening match of the first FIFA World Cup to be held across three North American countries.

Estadio Azteca is in the southern part of Mexico City, roughly eight miles from the city center. Reaching the stadium via public transportation is both affordable and straightforward.
The most direct route is to take Metro Line 2 (the Blue Line) to Tasqueña Station. From there, transfer to the Tren Ligero (Light Rail) and get off at Estadio Azteca Station, located a short walk from the stadium entrance. The total journey can take between 45 and 60 minutes, depending on your starting location and wait times.
However, traffic in Mexico City can be consistently heavy, particularly on match days, making public transportation the more reliable option. If you choose to drive or use a rideshare service like Uber, allocate at least an extra hour to your travel time to account for potential delays.
Fares are low: the Metro costs five pesos (about 30 cents), and the Tren Ligero is three pesos (about 20 cents). You can buy rechargeable metro cards at all city stations.

The main FIFA Fan Festival will take place in the Zócalo, Mexico City’s historic central square. Expect live match broadcasts, concerts, sports activities, and cultural exhibitions about the history of soccer in Mexico and Mexico City. Additional fan zones are planned across the city’s 16 boroughs, with more details to be announced as the tournament gets closer.

Even without the World Cup in town, Mexico City is one of the most popular tourist destinations in all of Mexico. With exceptional hotels, fantastic dining and nightlife, and cultural experiences around every corner, you’ll want to add a few extra days before or after the games to explore the city.
Los Angeles

Los Angeles will open the FIFA World Cup 2026 by hosting the tournament’s first match in the US on June 12. The 70,000-seat venue in Inglewood will be one of the busiest sites in the competition, with eight matches on the schedule — including two group-stage appearances by the US men’s national team, a pair of knockout rounds, and a quarter-final.
SoFi’s location near LAX, major freeways, and Metro lines makes it one of the most accessible venues on the World Cup circuit. And that ease of access extends to accommodations, with well-connected neighborhoods like Downtown LA, Culver City, and the South Bay offering a range of hotels and direct transit routes to the stadium.

Photo: Ringo Chiu/Shutterstock
You have a few options for the best way to reach SoFi Stadium from downtown Los Angeles, depending on whether you value speed or cost. By car, the fastest route is via the I-110 South to the I-105 West. Exit at Prairie Avenue and follow signs for the stadium; the trip takes about 25 to 40 minutes (or more, depending on LA’s notoriously bad traffic). Rideshare services like Uber or Lyft drop off and pick up in designated zones near Kareem Court and Pincay Drive. SoFi Stadium does allow you to reserve a parking space in advance, which is advisable during popular events like the World Cup. But note that you may still have a long walk from your parking spot.
If you’d prefer public transportation, take the Metro C Line (Green) to Hawthorne/Lennox Station, the board the free SoFi Stadium shuttle, which operates on event days and drops off near the stadium entrance. You can also take the Metro Bus (Line 117), which stops about a 10-minute walk from the stadium.
Official LA FIFA Fan ZonesLA hasn’t announced its official FIFA Fan Festival location, as of May 2025. It’s likely it’ll be somewhere central in the city, as it’s a free, public space where anyone can come to watch the games and meet other excited fans. The Fan Fest info will be available online closer to the LA World Cup matches, and shared on the official LA World Cup page.
The 2025 Club World Cup in LA

Los Angeles will play a significant role in the inaugural 32-team FIFA Club World Cup, hosting six matches at the iconic Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena. The tournament kicks off on June 15 and culminates with the final on July 13 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. The Rose Bowl’s fixtures feature top clubs like Paris Saint-Germain, Atlético de Madrid, and Inter Milan, offering fans a chance to witness elite international soccer — and likely drawing tons of international fans. Events will be held at BMO Stadium.

Where to Eat, Play, and Stay in Houston During the FIFA World Cup

In 2026, the World Cup will come to North America, and Houston will see several matches bring the global sport to Space City.
Yes, Houston is home to the NFL’s Texans, along with the Houston Roughnecks (in the UFL, or United Football League). And yes, Texas can conjure up images of Friday night lights and pigskin-armed quarterbacks. However, to think that this sprawling metropolis is only interested in one version of football would be foolish.
Houston has been the proud home of Dynamo FC for twenty years, and has grown into a loud and proud soccer town, with multiple official supporters groups rallying locals to cheer on their two-time MLS Cup-winning team. The area around Shell Energy Stadium, the Dynamo’s downtown stadium, has grown into a bustling district with soccer-centric bars. And you can bet a full-fledged community of soccer fans and players is eagerly awaiting hosting the seven scheduled matches for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
With a robust soccer-centric bar scene, league-worthy pitches, and a larger-than-life sense of style, Houston will show World Cup visitors why everything is bigger and better in Texas.
While the Houston World Cup matches are happening at NRG Stadium, plans are underway to transform East Downtown into a full-on fiesta for locals and visitors alike, with summer 2026 activities across the well-loved locales that have helped make “Space City” into “Soccer City.”
Sporty things to do around the Houston World Cup MatchesHouston is no stranger to tourism, with sights like the Space Center Houston and the Museum District that draw visitors from around the world. But there’s far more to do and uncover, especially for fans with an inclination toward all-things-sporty.
Play at the FIFA Fan Festival

Hosted by the FIFA World Cup 26 Houston Host Committee with various bars, restaurants, and other venues in the neighborhood, locals and visitors alike will be invited to a 34-day-long watch party next to Shell Energy Stadium in EaDo/ With an indoor food court, interactive activities, and sponsored activities along with mini soccer fields, expect endless entertainment while watching not just the Houston World Cup games, but all 104 matches. Located in the heart of the unofficial soccer district of the city, this full-fledged fiesta will bring lively energy to an already exciting time for Houston.
Get in on a pickup game
Photo: DavideAngelini/Shutterstock
After visiting Toros HTX, every coffee shop will feel lacking to soccer fans. With two complete soccer fields, Toros offers fans of the sport a space to play pick-up games or join their leagues for weekly meet-ups, accompanied by an excellent coffee program on the sidelines. It keeps the stadium lights on until 11 PM, and opens the fields at 7 or 8 AM, making it easy to avoid the peak Houston heat even if you want to play in the middle of summer. And there’s great coffee, too.
Tour one of the US’s busiest ports
Photo: Irina Starikova1811/Shutterstock
The M/V Sam Houston Boat Tour is a glimpse into one of the busiest ports in the United States. It’s a 90-minute tour operated by the Port of Houston Authority, taking guests aboard a small vessel from 1958. You’ll learn about Houston’s economic engine, with up-close views of massive cargo ships, petrochemical tankers, and industrial terminals. There’s no guide providing interpretive commentary — just an automated audio recording with basic port facts — so it’s more about observing the scale and logistics of global trade than learning in depth. Security is tight, and reservations are required, opening on the first day of every month. It’s an excellent offbeat side trip for travelers curious about maritime infrastructure.
Beat the heat indoors
Photo: Kzenon/Shutterstock
Houston and intense heat are a practically inseparable pair, and if you get glistening just standing around, playing a pick-up match outside might sound like a nightmare. Memorial Indoor Soccer offers adults open play every Monday and Friday from 8-11PM, offering the chance to spend a perfectly cool night kicking around the ball for only $10. Leave the cleats at home and reserve a spot, or gamble with a walk-in for a casual pick-up game without having to cook under the Texan sun.
Where to eat and drink during the Houston World CupHouston’s bar scene reflects the city’s identity as one of the most diverse in the country—soccer fans can find a place to cheer whether they’re backing Mexico, Nigeria, Brazil, or the US. The city’s culinary landscape is just as global, with standout Vietnamese, West African, and Mexican food alongside classic Texas barbecue. You don’t want to miss these dining experiences.

Bringing a bit of Manchester to Montrose, the Phoenix on Westheimer is a classic British pub in the heart of Houston. With soccer memorabilia on wood-paneled walls, red tufted booths, and TVs playing every match on air, you’d be forgiven for forgetting you’re in Texas when you walk in. As a Houston Dynamo Pub Partner, expect to find any and all matches playing while enjoying a frosty pint and a fine plate of fish and chips that taste fresh from the British Isles.

There are soccer bars, and then there is Pitch 25. Catty-cornered to the Houston Dynamo’s stadium, fans can come and go from Shell Energy Stadium, grab a beer, and play a pickup game all in one space. Former Major League Soccer And US Men’s National Team Player Brian Ching opened Pitch 25 as a beer garden with an indoor soccer pitch for guests and soccer fans to come together at. There are a hundred beers on tap with over 70 TVs, so no corner is without a view of any and all soccer games. Kids are welcome as fans of all ages can come to Pitch 25 and pick up a quick match, grab a bite of a burger or wings, and unite over the world’s favorite sport.

This isn’t your finance bro’s beer garden: Social has a counter-cultural vibe with weekly burlesque, steak, and comedy nights to satisfy all kinds of tastes. Also a Houston Dynamo Pub Partner, its rotating cast of food trucks provides bites between beers while the spacious patio and supersized projector screen plays all the big games. With a playful spirit, it’ll quickly become clear why Social Beer Garden is an excellent spot for soccer fans to unwind, especially those who find the fun soccer surprise inside the barrel-shaped urinals…

For those looking to catch a local soccer game while experiencing FIFA, this brewery’s beers offer an out-of-this-world experience that showcases a different side of Space City.

Where to stay during the Houston World Cup

NRG Stadium sits in Houston’s south-central corridor, but with the city’s extensive highway system and sprawling layout, where you stay depends more on what kind of experience you’re after. For walkable neighborhoods with nightlife and food, Midtown or Montrose are good bets. The Museum District offers a quieter, more cultural stay, while Downtown puts you closer to transit options. Wherever you land, give yourself extra time to get to the stadium—Houston traffic isn’t forgiving. Booking early is essential.

It’s 20 minutes to NRG Stadium and sits riverside with a spa, nightclub, and whiskey lounge on the property to cater to every style of traveler. Rooms start around $150 per night in the summer.
Book NowHotel ZaZa Museum DistrictHotel ZaZa offers a glimpse of the larger-than-life lifestyle Texans are known for. It’s a quick drive, train ride, or walk to several landmarks, including NRG Stadium. It also has a courtyard pool oasis that feels worlds away from the hustle and bustle of Houston’s Museum District. The ZaZa will surely be a hotspot for pre and post-game debauchery with its poolside parties, brunches, and live music for a gaudy good time. In the summer, rooms start in the high $200s per night.
