Mini-Pupdate

The pups at 3 weeks old…. from B-Twin-1

Pups are growing well. Eyes are all open and they have started to play.

Here are the next batch of aaaawwwww-inspiring pics. ;)

I'm *sure* they grew in between blinks....!

Their eyes *are* open.... Trust me. ;)

Their eyes *are* open.... When they aren't sleeping.

SUNSHINE visible

So back at the beginning of April I got a polite little query in my email asking if a journalist named Jayne Nelson* who was writing an article for the Special Vampire Issue of SFX Magazine** might chat to me about SUNSHINE?

The first thing that happened is that I thought oh, cool, sure . . . and forgot to answer.

The second thing that happened, about a week later, is that I belatedly wrote back that I’d be happy to chat except it was probably too late–?, thinking, yo

Fire and champagne

I went to the dentist today.  If I were speaking instead of writing I would be saying:  I wenh to thh dennis unhnay.

            I am a lopsided chipmunk.

This was supposed to be a little, minor trip to the dentist!  A weeny little filling!  A mere bagatelle of the dark dental arts!

I got there and sidled suspiciously into the fancy chair.*  The dentist took a quick look at the specs on the computer screen–you know those dental diagrams that look like the blueprints of th

Lemon flavoured wreckage

I am so shattered I didn’t go bell ringing tonight.  It’s the once-a-month practice at Old Eden and since I’m one of the founding members of making that practise happen I get extra black marks when I don’t show up.  But the absolute deciding factor is that Chaos has the runs.  Lovely.  Great.  Charming.  Delightful.  Having dogs is so fulfilling.*  Especially as I discovered Chaos’ condition when he brought all three of us to an abrupt, shoulder-damaging halt and Assumed the Position . . . imme

Handbell wedding

By the pink hellgoddess footnotes to Southdowner’s guest blog yesterday you will know I survived the handbell wedding.

            But it wasn’t easy.

In the first place . . . this hadn’t even occurred to me till the night before, because I was busy obsessing about the bell part of it . . . I have a rather strange wardrobe.   I have lots of gardening and hellhound-hurtling clothes.  And then I have a select assortment of dressing-up clothes of various kinds:  going out to dinner, goin

Guest post by Southdowner*

I’d be lion if I said I didn’t have dog scents…**

It was a weekend. Looong Sunday hours stretched before us and, typical impossible-to-please ten-year-old, Clare was bored. “What can we do?” she kept asking. I’d make a suggestion. “No, that’s too tiring/boring/babyish/I’ve seen it/been there/haven’t got the clothes for it…”

Eventually I ran out of suggestions. Something that we could do… I looked at the bus standing next to us at the traffic lights.

“Come to Westershire Safari Park!

Doom

Niall will be picking me up for the handbell wedding in less than twelve hours.*

 I feel sick.

I’m so demoralised I actually cut a rose and brought it indoors.  I’ve told you I can’t bear to cut anything, haven’t I?  Well, in a garden this small I can always just stand in the door and look at it, whatever it is.  But you don’t get the smell while you’re working, that way.  And the smell of a rose makes you work faster.  No, really.  You should try it.

Another Frelling Day

Emergency Handbell Practise tonight was a disaster.  The woman whose nephew is getting married and who wants handbells for some reason* rings a little herself and is going to make a fourth when she’s not being a part of the wedding.  She came to our standard Thursday evening practise tonight** and we just all took turns going wrong, even Niall.†  Daniel, who is our last-minute replacement third, is a steadier handbell ringer than Colin–I’ve told you before that while they’re both very experienc

Mini Pupdate - 2 Weeks Old!

from B-Twin-1

Two weeks on and I’m glad Belle is getting plenty of restful sleep. :p

The pups’ eyes are beginning to open and they are also starting to totter about on feet rather than crawling about like slugs all the time.  It’s fun to listen to their squeaks and squawks gradually become rather bark-like. :)

Here are some more scenes of my squee-filled days.   :)

2 Days Ago. I think they are holding the bar up now.

A Day Beyond Ratbaggery

I have been sitting here staring at the blank screen for a while.  I have an obvious opening for tonight’s blog entry, to wit:

I am not stupid enough to say ‘this day can’t get any worse’.  It can always get worse.*  But for a day that hasn’t involved major blood loss it would be very difficult for it to get any worse.**

. . . The problem is that a few of the things that are driving me over the incandescent edge are nothing I wish to air in public.***  And I’m so busy trying not to eat anyone†,
