Social Media
Our society has become much more 'social'. Not necessarily the way people used to be social with potlucks and Popsicle's on the front porch or back yard BBQ's. This day and age we are using: text, blogs, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, or Pinterest.
As an author I've always thought in person book signings were the way to draw attention to a new book. I can't remember the last time I walked into a book store and saw an author sitting at a table with his/her book with a pen in hand. I'm not saying I don't do book signings. I have and still think authors need to do them, but having a crowd for an unknown author takes more than just scheduling a signing.
Why?
We are in a fast pace society with the means of getting books in one 'click' of the mouse or tap of finger tip. 90% of readers get their books from Amazon, which explains why bookstores are in trouble. I love bookstores, but I need to be realistic. If I want to be a successful author, I must use the best resources to maximize exposure.
If you're an author, artist, or business owner, take note! Get your business on-line, get a Facebook page, a Twitter Handle, (authors and readers should be on Goodreads), and get social. Also, if you have a commercial, get it on YouTube! Keep in mind too, not to just sell, sell, sell, but interact with your possible clients/customers.

Rain after the rage
It's really nice to hear the rain hitting the payment. This last week was really hard on all Colorado with the fires. The news of 80% containment is great news and I'm sure the weather is helping increase that.
I will be up in Woodland Park this coming weekend for the Arts, Crafts, and Farmers Market. I'm hoping folks come out and support their community that was shut down for quite a few days. They really need our support right now. If you do come out, make sure to stop by my booth and say 'hi'.

A Raging Animal
Since this fire has started, I find it hard to concentrate. Watching my friends, neighbors and landmarks go up in flames breaks my heart into tiny pieces. Through it all, I know God is working. Whether it's to protect, or strengthen our faith, I know HE has a plan.
I'll keep watching. The fire is still not done, nor is it contained at all. I live about 10 miles from south end of fire. All it takes is one ember to make it's way across hwy 24.
Please pray for rain today--for God to open HIS flood gate of tears to put it out. So the authorities can then focus on finding the arson.
