Complicated by Megan Slayer  New Adult, Contemporary, M/M, LGBT, Erotic RomanceResplendence Publishing41,000 words
Finding the love of your life is hard, especially when you’re young and in the movies.
Jonathan Reynolds came to Cleveland, Ohio to break into the movies. He might not have the most orthodox methods, but he’s got the drive. He wants to be a star and shed his small town image. He’s no kid, although at twenty-one, he’s not very experienced. He’s happy with only having a few lines during a crowd scene—until he meets Sean Banks. Maybe it’s time for this virgin to come of age.
Sean Banks has been there, done that—on everything. The former child star grew up in the glare of the spotlight and beat his addiction to drugs and alcohol. But at twenty-four, he’s considered all washed up. He knows the role in this high budget action picture will catapult him back into the spotlight. He’s not ready to open his heart again, until he sees Jonathan. The young man captivates him. Can the jaded former star and the up-and-coming actor find common ground and passion between the sheets? Or will their love be relegated to the silver screen?

EXCERPT:©Megan Slayer, 2014, All Rights Reserved“You picked him?” Sean rested his hands on his hips. He hadn’t been able to get the blond-haired man out of his brain all night. When he slept, his dreams revolved around the man. The moment he saw the call sheet, his day brightened. He’d never been big on younger men, but he did have a thing for dating his co-stars.“Yeah, I did pick him,” the assistant director said. She rolled her eyes. “You cannot possibly be attracted to him. Aren’t you and Daniel having a thing?”“Daniel? No.” He wasn’t interested in Daniel Young. Good God, they’d known each other since the first Ducky juice drinks commercial. They’d been friends, yes, but partners? Not going to happen.“Then what’s wrong about this one? Too immature? Victor saw him act yesterday. He said the kid was pretty good.” She flipped through the sheets on her clipboard. “He only had a couple of lines, but even I bought into what he’d said.”“Because you like all the actors,” Sean said. “Look, if he works out for the kiss scene, then cool. If not, I’m not doing a love scene with him. I don’t care.”“You made eyes at him at the bar last night.”“Him?” He feigned shock. Yes, he’d made eyes at the kid. Who hadn’t? He was gorgeous. Still, he refused to jump into bed with just anyone...again. He’d been through that phase already. Rehab helped him see everything differently, especially when he’d come so close to dying. He shuddered. The overdose opened his eyes so wide. He’d been destructive and careening out of control.“Lover boy, you’ve got to meet him and pretend to have been lovers for years. Don’t yell at me. Suck it up.”“You’re so nice to me.” He scanned over the call sheet. They’d do the read in half an hour and the run-through shortly afterwards. Maybe they wouldn’t get along and he’d be able to get away from the kid. Sean strolled downstairs to the second apartment set.The director and the cameramen were already on site and chatting. The kid stood patiently to the side, apparently absorbing everything Victor said. What a newbie... Sometimes challenging the director added to the value of the movie.“I’m here,” Sean announced. “Everyone have their scripts?”Victor narrowed his eyes. “Stop the diva shit.”“I’m ready.” The younger man stepped forward. He offered his hand. “I’m Jonathan. I’m happy to meet you.”“Jonathan.” He shook hands. Either Jonathan truly had manners, like he’d displayed the night before, or he was the world’s best brown-noser. “So you’re playing Owen?”“I believe so.” Jonathan inched away from Sean. “I’ve read through the script a bunch of times. I think I’m ready.”Sean bit back a response. Part of him wanted to say, we’ll see. The rest of him wanted to see what the kid could do.

Monday Morning Armchair Quarterback ~ Playoffs Edition ~ Week Two

Playoff time is the right time for fun quotes. I stand by my statement. The commentators really need to think about what they're saying when they say it...or before.
To keep us occupied until next season, here are the honorable Mentions from last week:
Both times there’s been an open spot for him to get it.And he’s taken advantage.
Working the back line.Because he keeps finding those open spots.
A natural pick. He’s had a lot to choose from, so this is good.
Trying to get open and frees him up completely. Well, he tried too hard. No one wants him. Sad.
They kept things clean. Always a plus. Now on to those football funnies of the week.
Bringing that one in.Because he’s had his eye on her all night.
Has a chance to move.Well, yeah. He set his sights on her and is taking the opportunity.
Here he is in the slot.Because he got the chance.
Forced him out.Denied!
Hooks it up.Second chances are good.
Got the chance to potentially be the free guy.Since she turned him down after all, I’m not shocked.
And now for the doozy. Who knows why they say some of these things, but someone needs to play it back for them from time to time.
Slides through pressure. Snicker. Isn’t that the best way to do it? Tighter the better?

~
Since you're reading this, I'll bring this up. There's a Bengals player whose daughter was diagnosed with cancer. A portion of his jersey sales are being donated to the Cincinnati Children's Hospital to help with cancer research. It's a great cause. I've ordered mine. Want to know more? Here's the article link and here's the link to the shop if you're inclined.

Monday Morning Armchair Quarterback ~ Playoffs Edition

So the season is over for the Bengals. We blew it against the Colts. It had to happen. We've got the worst record once we get into the playoffs. But there is still lots of football to play and plenty of quotes to be gathered.
To keep us occupied until next season, here are the honorable Mentions from last week:
"Punched in."He's ready to go and get dirty!
"open against his ear."Hmm. The ear is a usable hole, now?
"working that whole field."Since he's punched in, I'd say work that field.
"he finds his tight end."Field working has worked.
They kept things clean. Always a plus. Now on to those football funnies of the week.
"Loves to escape the pocket."It's one form of prevention that sometimes works. Kudos for at least trying.
"He has the physical tools."And those tools are appreciated.
"is the size the reason they weren't to connect?"If he was too small for the hole, slippage can happen.
"Big hands."To make up for the small problem with connecting.
"Smothering the center."He can't take much more!
"All kinds of great pressure."Because he's being smothered. Let go a bit and let him breathe.
And now for that Doozy of the Week. I love these. These are so much fun.
"That offensive line does a great job of blowing."It's a talent. They're very proud.

Monday Morning Armchair Quarterback ~ Week Seventeen

So the miracle of a win against the Broncos happened. I don't know how it happened (okay, I do because I saw the game), but I'm glad. Unfortunately the exact opposite happened against the Steelers. Blah. We've made it into the playoffs, but this won't be easy.
While the game goes on, here are the honorable Mentions from last week:
"knows they are all bunched up inside."The fuller the better.
"a tight window."not after being all bunched up inside.
"showed his lateral range."He pulled out of the bunched up, tight window. He can.
"trying to pound it in."It's a tight window. It won't work!
All righty then. Interesting. Now on to those football funnies of the week.
"limited the package."If it's tight, then yeah, some limiting is needed.
"Got his hands on his flag."And what is he planning on doing with it? Seeking out that tight window, I assume.
"A couple dominating."Snort. What are they dominating?
"A real wide hole."That must be what's being dominated.
"a late release."Because it's all stretched out!
"needs confidence before the last half ends."Yeah, because a lack of confidence means he won't be able to perform.
And now for that Doozy of the Week. I love these. These are so much fun.
"Put it on the money."Well, after it's stretched out and with lost confidence, putting it on the money sounds like it should be the right thing to do.

Or will the Royal Marine Commando School break their relationship before it even gets started?

When Theo Samuels heads off to film on location in the village of Stoneydale, he's expecting drama to take place on camera, not off. Or is their fling destined to remain as just that?

LandscapesBy K D Grace
Alonso Darlington has a disturbing method of keeping landscaper, Reese Chambers, both safe from and oblivious to his dangerous lust for the man. Locked OutBy Josephine Myles
Getting accidentally locked out of his hotel room on Valentine's Day night is embarrassing enough for teacher Martin Cooper, but the fact he's stark naked makes it even worse. Now if only Martin could get the hang of this seduction business...

“Now, have you been good this year?”“I’ve done the best with what I’ve got,” Jagger answered. He wasn’t kidding. He liked sex. He liked to mingle. There might have been an occasion or two where he’d had a few too many and gone home with a guy only to have the relationship last as long as the blow job, but who was honestly a total angel?“I see. I’ll have to keep my eye on you.” Santa shifted in his seat. “What would you like for Christmas?”“An angel.” “A what? A porcelain one?”“No, no. Like the old song. An angel sent to me.” He’d loved that Shelly Fabares song so much. So the tune was hokey and the words were dated…he didn’t care.“Ah. What do you want her to look like?” Santa asked.Oh boy. Jagger fought the urge to roll his eyes. “I’d like him to be at least six feet tall. Brown hair. Shaggy hair, like just rolled out of bed shaggy. Blue eyes. Nice smile. Not a ton of chest hair. Great personality. Oh, and I want him to be the boyfriend type.” That about summed up what he’d wanted.“You’re thorough.” Santa rubbed his chin. “That’s a tall order, pardon the pun.”“I know. I figure you’re my last hope. I’ve tried meeting guys on my own. Tried the dating scene, the website thing, and the set up by friends thing. None of it has worked. If you can’t, then I’m hopeless, and December will forever suck.”“Aren’t you positive?” Santa paused. His dark eyes glittered. “Does his name have to be Johnny?”“Nope.”“If you have this man come to you, you’ll enjoy the holiday?” Santa asked.“I will.” Granted, he wanted the man to stick around and be more than short term, but love wasn’t going to happen overnight. “Well, I’ll see what can be done. You’re cutting it mighty close.”“Don’t I know it.”

Out Now! Shifter's Challenge by Megan Slayer

Megan SlayerChangeling PressM/M, Anal SexShort StoryParanormal, Contemporary, Holiday

Steve Moore, a black cat shifter, breaks into the North Pole Christmas party in his cat form. Easy enough. No one imagines a black cat would be out of place in a warm building in the middle of the winter. But Steve’s not there to sample the cupcakes or eggnog. No, he’s there to find the one Elf who makes his heart race -- Landon. Is Landon still interested in the shifter? They only spent one night together. Things could fall apart once they find each other again, but Steve’s betting the Elf is craving him, too.
Time to see what magic Christmas has in store.

Excerpt: ©Megan Slayer, 2014, All Rights ReservedSo many Elves and so many happy faces. He’d never find Landon in the myriad of red and white. His heart sank. He’d been a fool to hunt for the Elf. They’d spent one night together. Landon probably didn’t even remember him.Three Elves wandered past the tree, and the sound of one of the male Elves’ voices caught his attention. Steve perked his ears and zeroed in on the dark-haired Elf.Landon.Steve dug his claws into the branch. Part of him wanted to jump from the tree and into Landon’s arms. The rest of him erred on the side of staying put. Landon seemed happy and like he was having the time of his life. He couldn’t intrude on that. The blond Elf kept touching Landon’s arm and laughing at everything Landon said. The other Elf nodded. His long black hair swished as he moved his head. The three Elves acted so comfortable together. They had to be close friends. Hell, they seemed to barely notice the rest of the party. Maybe that was why Landon hadn’t stuck around -- he had men at home waiting for him. Had he been duped?Nah, Landon wasn’t the type to screw with people… was he?Steve adjusted his weight on the branch and closed his eyes. He’d had enough of watching Landon and company. His anger melted as he pictured that lone night with Landon. They’d had a hot time together. They’d shared drinks, danced and made love until dawn. He could still feel the tightness of Landon’s asshole around his cock. The words he’d said when Landon unzipped resonated in Steve’s head.Damn, you’re bigger than I thought you’d be. Not Steve’s best moment, but he’d been honest. Maybe the stupid comment had been the reason Landon left.“There you are,” a voice boomed.Steve didn’t bother to open his eyes. Probably another man wanting Landon’s attention. Why torture himself by looking?“I knew I’d find you here.” The owner of the deep voice grew closer. “Can’t hide from me.”I’ll bet you can’t, Steve thought. Still, his curiosity won out. He opened his eyes to watch the show. Instead of seeing people gathered around Landon, Steve was face-to-face with a large man in a red suit. Santa? How had Santa known he was in the tree?“Landon, your Christmas present has finally arrived.” Santa reached into the tree and gathered Steve into his arms. “He’s got a little sap on him. Might want to go somewhere private and clean him off.”Landon’s present? Steve stared at the wide-eyed Elf. He wanted answers, and apparently so did Landon. Steve blinked. If there was any chance he’d get down to the truth, then being Landon’s present was a good idea.
