Lata Sony's mantra is to go along with life until something different comes along. Like the average software professional, she merrily went about her life in the quest to attain the ultimate rating of outstanding performance next appraisal, when along came a famous palmist who foresaw her future as a novel writer. So she participated in a contest with a publisher and won the first round for a publishing contract, when along came India's most successful self-published author Rasana Atreya. Lata got so sold on Rasana's posts and talk at an Amazon event that she abandoned the contest and the traditional marketing bandwagon to jump into the self-publishing one. Rochelle Potkar 
Rochelle Potkar’s short stories have appeared in Far Enough East, Sein und Werden, The Medulla Review, The Nassau Review, Women Writers, Writer’s Hub, Bewildering Stories, Cantaraville, Muse India, The Bangalore Review, Revenge Ink, Nivasini, Unisun, Triangulation, Rollick magazine, Annapurna magazine, and Lame Goat Publications.

She won a gold place for her story, ‘The point of Irish coffee’ from Revenge Ink, and an Editor’s choice award for her story, ‘Ramayan redux’ by Triangulation: Parch, USA.

Her poems have appeared in The Brown Boat, The Finger Magazine, Haibun Today, The Bamboo Hut, The Freshwater review. Her poem, ‘Knotted inside me’ was one of the eight shortlisted poems for The RaedLeaf Poetry India Award 2013. She won a second place for her poem ‘Swing’ at the Wordweavers contest 2014.

She has read her poetry at 100Thousand Poets for Change, Godrej India Culture Lab, PEN@Prithvi, Prakriti Festival, and at Kala Ghoda Arts Festival. She completed an Advanced Fiction Seminar offered by University of Iowa’s International Writing Program via distance learning, 2013. She narrated two true-life tales at Tall Tales, Kitab Mahal.

Her first book of stories, ‘The Arithmetic of breasts and other stories’ was shortlisted for The Digital Book of the Year Award 2014, by Publishing Next. Her next book, ‘Dreams of Déjà vu’ is a speculative novel.

Born in small town Kalyan, Rochelle craved big city only to realize that Bombay was a small town in a large world. She now waits for the galaxy to become a small town.

She is the co-editor of the quarterly Neesah Magazine with Nivedita of Nivasini Publishers, Hyderabad.

She is part of the pan-India poetry movement: Poetry Couture, that curates open mics, addas, and readings in cafes, libraries, art galleries including the American Library (U.S. Consulate General) and National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi.

Rickie Khosla 
Rickie Khosla is of mixed Punjabi-Assamese lineage. He was born in Kolkata, but much of his young life was spent in Delhi where his parents moved when he was just two. After schooling and university, a career in Marketing Research beckoned, taking him to New York City where he lived for a decade before moving back to India, to a conundrum called Gurgaon.

His first book, “An Imperative Subterfuge”, is a historical fiction e-novella about an incident we wished had happened in Nazi Germany. His second book (a 'desi', pacey, racy thriller) was recently picked up by India's leading literary agency and will, hopefully, find a publishing home soon.

Sundari Venkatraman 
Even as a kid, Sundari absolutely loved the ‘lived happily ever after’ syndrome as she grew up reading all the fairy tales she could lay her hands on, Phantom comics, Mandrake comics and the like. It was always about good triumphing over evil and a happy end.

Soon, into her teens, Sundari switched her attention from fairy tales to Mills & Boon. While she loved reading both of these, she kept visualising what would have happened if there were similar situations happening in India; to a local hero and heroine. Her imagination took flight and she always lived in a rosy cocoon of romance over the years.

Then came the writing – a true bolt out of the blue! She could never string two sentences together. While her spoken English had always been excellent – thanks to her Grandpa – she couldn’t write to save her life.

All this changed suddenly one fine day in the year 2000. She had just quit her job as a school admin and didn’t know what to do with her life. She was saturated with simply reading books. That’s when she returned home one evening after her walk, took some sheets of paper and began writing. It was like watching a movie that was running in her head – all those years of visualising Indian heroes and heroines needed an outlet and had to be put into words. That’s how her first novel, The Malhotra Bride, took shape. While she felt discouraged when publishing didn’t happen, it was her husband who kept encouraging her not to give up.

In the meanwhile, she landed a job as Copy Editor with Mumbai Mirror. After working there for two years, she moved to the Network 18 Group and worked with two of their websites over the next six years, as Content Editor.

Despite her work schedule, she continued to write novels and then short stories and had them published in her blogs. She also blogs voraciously, writing on many different topics – travel, book reviews, film reviews, restaurant reviews, spirituality, alternative health and more.

Her first eBook Double Jeopardy – a romance novella – was published by Indireads and has been very well received by readers of romance.

In 2014, Sundari self-published The Malhotra Bride (2nd Edition); Meghna; The Runaway Bridegroom; Flaming Sun Collection 1: Happily Ever Afters From India (Box Set) and Matches Made In Heaven (a collection of romantic short stories).

2015 brought yet another opportunity. Readomania came forward to traditionally publish this book – The Madras Affair – a mature romance set in Madras.

Ritu Lalit 
Ritu Lalit is a corporate slave turned fiction writer. A voracious reader, she is a gold medalist post graduate in English Literature who spent most of her childhood in remote areas in the northeastern parts of India, lying on grassy hillsides daydreaming and reading books.
