Welcome to the Creek by Julie A. Lindsey....AKA My Writer Bestie!

First off, we've never had each other on our blogs which is weird considering how close we are.  But I think it's because we were saving ourselves for this AWESOMENESS that is HONEY CREEK!
Please help me welcome by writer bestie....Julie Anne Lindsey!!!!

Jenni! I can't believe I'm here! Honey Creek has finally come alive for everyone to enjoy, not just us LOL!! Thank you for letting me stop by on my very first blog tour and talk about the Creek. : ) I think we cool kids should totes call it that "The Creek." We can be "Creekers." You think? No? Too much like Creepers? Well, I'll work on it and get back with you then. Meanwhile, let me tell your bloggy friends and bookish peeps a little about our fun new town!
Welcome to Honey CreekHoney Creek is a fictitious small town in rural Ohio where anything can happen. The stories and genres will captivate every small town fan. Miss Jenni, your delightful blog host, has written some delish YA titles for example *winky face* and I have written some especially sweet romances.   When I first read about Honey Creek, my heart jumped right to romance. I'm from rural Ohio and there's just something in the air. It's a great place to fall in love – I know. So, I set out to write some serious toe-curling stories that made me swoon and squeeze my husband a little tighter. In Honey Creek, time moves a little slower. People are a little nicer *cough* most people, and good old fashioned values run the show. The lake at Honey Creek has seen its share of first kisses and proposals as well as a few suitless bottoms. The mailman is going blind, but getting your neighbor's mail isn't a big deal when they sit behind you at church every Sunday. I love the idea of a little town where families know one another and kids are safe to play unsupervised. I like the festivals in the town square, and the idea of hiding a crush when everyone is watching. I get goose bumps thinking about it. Hiding anything in a little town like Honey Creek takes some skill, so you can imagine the pickles these characters can find themselves in just to keep a secret for themselves. Ahh..if this place were real, I'd hammer a for sale sign in my yard today.  I live in a place I think resembles Honey Creek quite a bit, but I wish I could call my characters for advice or a new recipe at dinnertime. Everyone should be so lucky. I hope you'll visit Honey Creek.Bloom by Julie Anne Lindsey
In a town filled with her past, she never expected to find her future…Seven years ago Cynthia left Honey Creek with a broken heart. Three years ago Mitchell arrived with one.  Now Cynthia's come home, and these two hardened hearts can't stop arguing. If they'd only take a break long enough to find some common ground, they might be surprised to find love can grow anywhere. If they'll let it, love will find a way to Bloom.
*Bloom is book one in my new Seeds of Love series.  I'll be planting those seeds all year.
About Julie:I am a mother of three, wife to a sane person and Ring Master at the Lindsey Circus. Book Nibbles

Today on Book Nibbles we have Christina Wolfer's Two Brothers.
Here's where you can get your copy on Amazon for $2.99!
Blurb:
At eighteen, Amanda Riley got her first lesson in love when Jacob Henderson broke her heart. But then she made the biggest mistake of her life – she ran off and married his younger brother.

Ten years later, she's divorced and moving back to her small hometown. She's made a name for herself in the cutting horse industry. That should count for something… Right? But decade old mistakes won't be easily forgotten by everyone in town.

When Amanda and Jacob are thrown together to help an abused horse, old desires ignite and past truths are revealed. And just when they think they'll get a second chance at love, the younger brother comes home.

Recently, Two Brothers received a 5 cup review from Coffeetime Romance. Here's a portion of that review: Oh my! I must warn readers they will need a big box of tissues handy before they sit down to read Two Brothers. I was extremely moved by the realistic character development with a big dose of the reality. A true story about love and loss and about the fact that the ones who cause the most pain are the ones we love. I felt bad for each character and found something about them, which drew me to a level of understanding that in the beginning I was sure I would never achieve. I highly recommend the tale of Two Brothers and the amazing writing of Christina Wolfer.

My cup of info: Way to go Christina on the 5 cups!
I loved Two Brothers. The story was complex, touching and heat wrenching. I loved to watch Amanda and Jacob mix and mingle and try to figure things out. Kind of like real life. Their story felt real and I fought for them. I hope you enjoy this wonderful read.

I need your advice...

The past few months, I've been thinking about joining an official writer's organization. There are a few things holding me back. I've asked a few writer friends their thoughts and I get answers on both sides of the fence.

For example, Romance Writers of America (RWA) is huge! I mean like whoa momma! I know a lot of writers who have joined and for the most part, I think they are happy with their membership. The difference between them and me. I'm new. Still wet behind the ears while they're seasoned. Does joining a large writing group such as this, help me get established? A close writer friend hasn't joined only because there isn't a local chapter in her area. I've got a local chapter and I even know a member (email only).

There's also a local Writer's Guild. I'm really stand-offish about this one. Here's why. A year or so ago, when I started looking into networking and getting on the social media train, I looked into joining our local guild. But I wasn't allowed. Shocked by this, I looked into it. If I was an unpublished writer, I could only join if I were a student. I was neither at the time and I think the entire situation left me with a bad taste. To me, writing groups are there to help and this one only wanted those published writers among their ranks. What ever happened to cultivating?

I did recently sign up on line (still waiting on approval) to the YALITCHAT group. I'm anxious to dive into this group and get my self dirty with knowledge!

What do you think? Are you a member of a group? If so which one? Do you find it beneficial? Too expensive? Are their groups I should be looking into joining? Please leave a comment. I'm biting my nails in anticipation.

Book Nibbles

One of my favorite authors is up this week on Book Nibbles.
Drum roll please!

According to Plan by Madison J Edwards!

Where you can get your copy....now!
Blurb:What do you do when things don't go According to Plan? For starters, you trick, deceive, and lie to the very person who ruined your best laid plans.

Welcome to the world of Shelby Stewart, Private Investigator, who's been hired to find Harrison Grant. To complicate matters further, her ex-partner, ex-lover, ex-everything Tank shows up looking for Harrison as well, albeit for a very different reason.

Harry is the prime suspect in the grisly murder of a call girl, Lulu, in L.A. That wouldn't be so bad, but Tank plans on staying at Shelby's house, and makes it obvious he's quite willing to help her heat the sheets, again. Shelby knows that sex with Tank is dangerous, fast, and sometimes a little dirty. Now is not the time to become side-tracked. Besides, this job could launch her company into a whole new stratosphere, so it's imperative she remain focused.

Frustration becomes Shelby's newest partner as she makes plans to out maneuver Tank in their parallel quest. Tank, on the other hand, is always one step ahead of the game--and is not what, or who, Shelby thought.
My thoughts:Yes, this book is much, much racier than what I normally talk about but I read it anyway and was hooked. Now, this book is for adults with mature content and situations. But if you enjoy a smexy read, I highly recommend this book. While you're at it, check out some other titles by Madison J Edwards.

Inspiration

Some of my family and friends have asked me where I get my ideas. What inspires me?

After a few minutes of acting silly, blushing and fumbling my words, I eventually say "I don't know." Sure I know, but this writing thing is still new and wrapping my head around the fact that I am one, still eludes me.

The answer to their question is everything. Anything.

I took a walk yesterday around the lake in our subdivision, enjoying the weird winter weather and everything around me could be a new story. Maybe not an entire story, but a scene of one. For example, maybe a girl drowns in the lake and someone taking a walk, like me, happens upon the body. Boom, a mystery to solve.

Or two people, walking hand and hand stop at bench. Her hair blows across her face sticking into the gloss she's slicked across her lips. The biting sting of the wind is only challenged by the sun's heat as she looks up to the sky, pulling in the courage to grab this boy and kiss him. Sure, it's not a story line but it makes for good stuff in a story.

Now, I'll ask you. What inspires you?

If you're feeling blocked, I say step away from your day-to-day life for a minute. Take a walk. Go to the mall and watch people. Read a book. Anything and everything can be your next story.

Good luck!

Book Nibbles

Because of the blog hop, last weeks Book Nibble was deleted. However, if you follow my Facebook page or my Twitter account, you'll see I gave mad props to my friend and fellow author, Margaret Ethridge's Paramour.

Now that we're back on track, this week we're featuring Rebuild My World by Cheryl Norman.

Category: Fiction, Romance, Romantic Suspense, Contemporary
Blurb:
More than anything, Taylor Drake wants her life back. She's returned to her family home, suffering from the agoraphobia that has plagued her since she was brutally attacked in her apartment. Once a confident and successful photographer, she now cowers behind closed doors with a loaded pistol. She fears her attacker will find her and finish the job.
The last assignment chief deputy Adam Gillespie wants is to babysit the spoiled celebrity Taylor. He blames her father for his family's financial ruin; and her brother, Wil Drake, is the incumbent candidate for Foster County sheriff, Adam's dream job. Wil is out of town, though, so Adam can't afford to let anything happen to the sheriff's sister. Complications arise when someone murders the man he arrests for stalking her.

Where you can get your copy for $3.99.

About the author: Cheryl Norman wrote her first mystery at the age of 13. She earned a BA in English at Georgia State University. After a career in telecommunications, she returned to fiction writing and won the 2003 EPPIE award for her contemporary romance, Last Resort. Her debut with Medallion Press, Restore My Heart, led to a mention in Publisher's Weekly as one of ten new romance authors to watch. Running Scared, a romantic suspense set in Jacksonville, Florida and Washington D.C., received a Perfect 10 from Romance Reviews Today. Reviewer Harriet Klausner calls her writing "Mindful of Linda Howard..." Her latest romantic suspense novel for Medallion is Reclaim My Life, and Cheryl has two novellas in the anthology Romance on Route 66. Rebuild My World, published by Turquoise Morning Press, is the sequel to Reclaim My Life.

Geek Out!

I recently wrote an email to a friend of mine freaking out about deadlines and manuscripts and galleys.
Oh my!
Her response was "a year ago we would've killed for a deadline from our editor". And she was right. A year ago, we only dreamed of saying words like my editor just emailed me and said my manuscript is due to her 2 months earlier than planned. Or, hey my editor just sent me my galley. Better yet, my publisher emailed me my front cover art work (she hasn't but I'm just sayin').
Oh my gosh you guys. I can't even believe I'm able to speak these words now.
I'm totally geeking out with my freak out!
For those of you still working the grind and trying to make those dreams come true I say keep on keepin' on. It will happen. Have faith and soon we can all be sittin' around talkin' shop and lovin' it!
Thanks!
