Hello, friends!

We are easing into the patterns of early fall with the advent of school, homework, soccer and Scouts. As our unseasonably cool weather ushers in thoughts of snuggling up with a good book, I’m keeping my eyes open for some good ones. Like much of America, I survived Miley-gate with my eyesight intact, but the MTV Video Music Awards did spur my desire to read a romance novel with a musician in the mix. I checked my shelves and dove into The Summer He Came Home by Juliana Stone, and so far I am loving it. With a hero named Cain Black — how can I go wrong?

The Sheik Retold by Victoria Vane is a steamy retelling of the 1919 classic romance by E.M. Hull. What I love about this trailer is the way it’s a modern twist but pays sexy homage to the original. A privileged heiress used to getting what she wants and an alpha, arrogant sheik who takes what he wants. I loved the Middle Eastern music and the vintage-looking images.

I wanted to read the original before reading Victoria Vane's retelling of the story in THE SHEIK RETOLD.

THE SEXIEST DANCE EVER!

I stumbled on quite a bit about Rudolph Valentino while writing THE SHEIK RETOLD. I love this tango clip from the 1921 film, ”Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

Here’s one from the 1954 film Valentino, a biographical film about the legendary Latin lover.

Colin Firth isn’t half bad either!!!!

THE SHEIK RETOLD by Victoria Vane and E.M. Hull

THE SHEIK RETOLD

Coming Soon…

When pride and passion vie for supremacy, blistering desert days… are nothing compared to sizzling Sahara nights…

THE SHEIK RETOLD

A haughty young heiress …for whom the world is a playground…

“You’re a damned obstinate little devil!” Aubrey exclaimed.

“I am what you have made me— as hard as yourself— so how can you quarrel with the result? It is illogical. My life is now my own to deal with, and I will deal with it exactly as I wish. I will do what I choose when and how I choose, and I will never again obey any will but my own.”

Aubrey’s mouth hardened. His eyes narrowed. “Then I hope to Heaven that one day you will fall into the hands of a man who will make you obey.”

I rose with a scornful laugh, flinging over my shoulder as I stormed back to my tent, “Then Heaven help him who tries!”

A savage son of the Sahara… who knows no law but his own…

“There will be inquiries.” I choked out. “I am not such a nonentity that nothing will be done when I am missed and you will pay for what you have done.”

“Pay?” His amused look sent a cold feeling of dread through me. “I have already paid… in gold that matches your hair, my gazelle. Besides,” he continued, “the French Government has no jurisdiction over me. There is no authority here above my own.”

My trepidation was growing more terrible every passing moment. “Why have you brought me here?”

“Why have I brought you here?” He repeated with a slow and heated appraisal that made me acutely, almost painfully, conscious of my sex. “Bon Dieu! Are you not woman enough to know?”

Pride and passion vie for supremacy between a haughty young heiress and a savage son of the Sahara in this fresh new telling of E.M. Hull’s romance classic.

A BREED APART

I’ve just reached the half way point of FOREVER A COWBOY (Twin Bridges #2) a complex and emotional story that opens in the rodeo world where my hero, Dirk Knowlton, a rough stock rider, is a contender for the all around title. Here’s a brief taste of what it takes to become a champion.

A CHANGE OF PACE!

Hi All!

For those who are not already aware, I am branching out into contemporary romance with a brand new cowboy series for Sourcebooks. This does not mean I have abandoned my historical roots, as I do have more DeVere projects in the works (more about that VERY soon), but I am thrilled to be writing something totally different-  a contemporary cowboy series set in the Montana and Wyoming ranching world. The main characters in the series are diverse in background (a lawyer, a marine, a bullrider, a  football player, and a wildlife biologist) but are all connected to one another through their roots to the land and also share the common cowboy creed at their very core.

Gene Autry’s Code of Honor

A cowboy never takes unfair advantage – even of an enemy.
A cowboy never betrays a trust. He never goes back on his word.
A cowboy always tells the truth.
A cowboy is kind and gentle to small children, old folks, and animals.
A cowboy is free from racial and religious intolerances.
A cowboy is always helpful when someone is in trouble.
A cowboy is always a good worker.
A cowboy respects womanhood, his parents and his nation’s laws.
A cowboy is clean about his person in thought, word, and deed.
A cowboy is a Patriot.

Times may have changed, but the core cowboy values have not. I’ll be posting more “cowboy wisdom” over the coming weeks and months.

Now for a little something to put you in a cowboy mood, here’s a fabulous video from JEFF ROBINSON BUCKING BULLS of Mars Hill, N.C.
