4 Ways to Get More From Your Hotel Budget

There are plenty of things to consider when finding a place to stow your belongings and close your eyes at night. Price may be the biggest factor for you, but that doesn't mean the less you pay the worse your stay. There are plenty of budget and moderate hotels that offer wonderful service and surroundings if you know where and how to look.

It's important to weigh all your options when deciding on where to sleep. Does it have a restaurant? Is it close to fun activities? Is it convenient to publi...

We Drove Around Town to See a "Parade"

Every June, Portland holds the Rose Festival, with a carnival and several events. The most notable of these is the Grand Floral Parade where people flock to downtown to watch floats made of flowers and things go slowly down the street, even though they could watch it on TV. I love the parade, but it's got two major things I'm not a fan of: getting there super early to get a good spot and giant crowds.

Now, people are known to set up their chairs the night before the parade and some even stay the...

Taking Your Next Great Road Trip

Non-essential travel is still kind of off the the table right now, but things are changing every single day, so this may or may not be the case come July. As things stand now, experts are suggesting Summer travel that encompasses only essential travel, domestic destinations, and probably doing so in your car. We're doing a decent job flattening the curve, and that doesn't mean we can just go back to normal, since that will create more problems.

Places like New York are overwhelmed by the...

Drinks To Take You Away

While no ones traveling right now and we're all stuck in our homes dreaming about far off places, that doesn't mean we can't do things that remind us of travel or give us a little taste of being in a new destination. If you love a good drink and you're one of the many people working on their home bartending skills, here are some lovely drinks you can make to whisk you away.

You might also find a new favorite for all those Zoom happy hours you're doing right now to catch up with friends and...

The House of MinaLima

If you've been around here for a while, you know how much I love the world of Harry Potter. We won't discuss my issues with JK Rowling herself, but the books are a huge part of my life. When I found out the House of MinaLima - named for Miraphora Mina and Eduardo Lima, the graphic designers behind (almost) all the paper props in the Harry Potter movies - was open to visitors in London, I put it on my list to visit. Since you can't get to London right not, and even if you could, you wouldn't...

My Favorite Free & Cheap London Activities (Part 2)

In my last post, I started talking about my favorite free and cheap activities in London, because it looks like London is a popular destination for my readers right now while we cant't travel. I want to continue my list of things that cost very little or nothing in the city to make a trip full and still make it feel like you experienced the best of what there is to offer.

I always suggest adding free attractions and activities into your trip to stretch your budget, but this last trip we...

My Favorite Free & Cheap London Activities (Part 1)

I've been following the posts that are popular reads here on Shereen Travels Cheap during lockdown and it looks like you are all interested in London travel. I realized I never posted about some of things we did when we were there in September and now's the time to share it while everyone is dreaming of travel.

Because we'd already been to London two other times, we spent a lot of time doing cheap and free activities on this last trip. So, I've decided this first post will be about my...

How Travel Will Change After Coronavirus

We're all probably so tired of hearing about Covid-19 and Coronavirus. There's almost no other news happening and it can get overwhelming. It sucks. We're all stuck at home trying to stay afloat and figure out how to adjust to this new normal for the time being where we don't get to hug others and have to throw game nights via Zoom or Discord and can only see people from across the street. I hope some good things will come from this, including a lot more kindness toward people, a greater...

How To Support Travel and Tourism When You Can't Travel

We're all living in a time of uncertainty right now. We don't know when we're going to travel again, just that it'll happen at some point in the future. We're hoping September sees us taking to the roads and skies again, but what are we doing in the meantime? You can definitely be planning your next trip now, but you can also support those in limbo right about now, too.

As a travel blogger, things are really iffy right now. I'm not sure if I want to write about travel during this time,...
