Smile, Sydney

2015-05-28 11.49.46

Take time to smile.

Take time to say hello, or to nod, or to gently acknowledge someone you pass on the street.

A year ago today, Sydney was waking up to news that a terrifying siege had ended with fatal violence. In the resulting torrent of emotion, there was the usual social commentary of sexuality, immigrants, violent offenders, and other divisive labels. But what the commentary overlooked was the fear that people feel, the hopelessness, and the fact that regardless of who might be there to watch, in the end, we all die alone.

Thank your barista today.2015-05-29 13.40.31

Leave a tip for good service.

Ask how someone’s feeling and listen.

Sydney is one of my favorite cities; if you are there enjoy your day.

Have a leisurely meal at the Museum of Sydney’s café (MoS).

Have a friendly dram at the Baxter Inn.

Go to dinner at deVine , or walk around Darling Harbour.

Enjoy the space of Martin Place.

Go into a café and think about how we can make this world better.

Be kind.

The Kill Switch

Regrettably, I have decided to defer the release of And Then They Ruined Everything.

Perhaps an aptly named novel for the difficulty involved in taking a completed manuscript to a completed work, error free has proven more difficult and time consuming than anticipated.

What I thought was in professional hands back in August has been 20 weeks of frustration and an array of errors. So, until I can be confident that this novel can be published at a reasonable quality, I’ve hit the kill switch.

My apologies to those who’ve expressed interest in reading the story and thanks to all who’ve supported me; I’ll get this sorted out and the novel will be better for it.

In the interim, the sample pages will remain on this website and I provide updates as a resolution is found.

Hollard Gardens

Hollard Gardens, place that appears as though it could be Lucy’s version of Narnia.

One of many Botanic Gardens in New Zealand that offers tranquility, beautiful flowers, chattering birds, and buzzing bees.

Located on the North Island in the Taranaki region between Stratford and Mt Taranaki Park, well worth an afternoon walk or picnic.

Offers an information / interpretative centre, washrooms, playground, and benches.
