Excuse my French

Those of you in possession of a sensitive nature (and let’s face it, if you’re here the chances of that are slim) will probably not want to read this review by, erm, BookCunt. I’ll let her do the talking.

World domination begins…

Lovely news in the form of not one, not two, but three new translation rights deals this week. In addition to the Spanish deal already sealed, Herald of the Storm will soon be available in French, Bulgarian and Italian. Full details are on my agent John Jarrold’s website here. Interview Roundup

As Herald of the Storm continues to fly off the shelves (you’ve bought yours already, haven’t you? If not WHY NOT?) I’ve recently been in demand on the interview circuit – well who wouldn’t want to know all about ME!

Firstly, Stephen Jewell asks me about my influences, including the pub, over at the SFX website. Then Doug Smith, who gave me a very nice review over at Fantasy Faction, does his very first interview over at Wilder’s Book Review. And finally, Stefan Fergus uses some very natty graphics over at Civilian Reader.

So if you’re just dying to know more about me – and let’s face it, who isn’t? – then you’ve never had a better opportunity.

Today Herald of the Storm hits bookshops in the UK, and you should most definitely buy it. But don’t just take my word for it! Gareth Wilson over at Falcata Times thinks it’s definitely a series to watch, while Ani Johnson at the Bookbag was reduced to tears… in a good way!

So go on, snag yourself a copy while the snagging’s good- – you won’t regret it!

Review Roundup… and mug!

In case you didn’t know – and I’ve been bleating on about it enough recently so you should – Herald of the Storm hits shelves in the UK on the 25th April. Already there have been some glowing reviews and this week is no exception.

First, Elloise Hopkins at the British Fantasy Society reviewed it here. Then Craig at Galaxy Bookshop in Australia thinks I’m ‘As good as Abercrombie’ when you click the reviews tab over here  (apparently referring to some chap known as ‘Joe Abercrombie’ – never heard of him, personally). And Erik Lundqvist, who really liked my debut, Kultus, says Herald of the Storm  ‘surpassed his expectations’ over here.

Add to this the fact the novel now has its very own tie-in coffee mug, and it’s been a pretty good week all in all.

First Appearance of the Year!

On the 28th of March this year, Goldsboro Books in London will be holding their Fantasy in the Court event. It’s held between 6pm-9pm and it’s FREE! As an added bonus, I’ll be there buried beneath a pile of signed hardbacks of Herald of the Storm, so come along, say hello and nab yourself a copy while they’re hot!

Herald Review No. 1

SFF blog Drying Ink (which reviewed my début novel Kultus back in January 2012) has given Herald of the Storm it’s first review here! Yes, I know the novel’s not out for weeks yet but that just shows how keen some people are to read it! Anyway, in case you can’t be bothered to click on the linky – Jacob appears to have liked it – ‘Definitely a recommended read!’ he says. I’m finding myself liking this Jacob chap more and more every year!

Viva España!

Just a quick post to let you know the news: just got word from Headline that they’ve sold foreign language rights for Herald of the Storm and the other two books in the Steelhaven series to a Spanish publisher! More details on my agent’s site here. Let’s hope this is the first of many!!
