Thanks for Everything, Steve.

Steve Jobs - 1955-2011

Steve Jobs passed away today. He battled a terrible illness, but left a remarkable legacy of achievement that changed how we look at information, electronics, and personal computing. Rather than focus on his technical achievements, his brilliance, his shortcomings, or the company he left behind, I want to stress his attitude because it's something we'd all do well to emulate.

Pride and Prejudice and XML

Antigone's Fall is a week past her due date. The doctors all say we should induce labor…or get massively drunk and leap from some vast height.

I know that the bloody files needed for indexing LOOK right. I know that the references in the main story file LOOK right. I know that the steps I've followed LOOK right.

Why, oh why, won't you compile without errors? Why do you hate me?

I know a lot of smart writers, many of whom have managed to do this task. This shouldn't be beyond my abilities, yet...

A Gleeful, Verbose, and Heartfelt Welcome

I've written about the necessity of having one's work edited. As a friend of mine likes to say, "Anyone can write–they know all the letters!" I think what will separate the indie writers from people simply vomiting verbiage is the same one that makes any professional writer stand out–editing.

Writers have interesting ideas, create worlds we want to dive into and explore, and share the lives of people we'll never meet–but wish we could. However, as talented as they may be at editing someone...
