A veteran of the Cold War and Green Beret, Warren Martin served 21 years in the U.S. Army. He was born in Maryland and then moved to Ireland with his mother when he was young, but returned to the U.S. in 1967. He currently lives in St. Louis, Mo with his wife Debbie.
A national contest, the Stars and Flags Book Awards program, was established five years ago with the purpose of promoting books which have a connection to the military. Many of the judges are veterans themselves, and others include historians, teachers, and avid readers. The program is facilitated by Nancy Smith of Reeds Spring, Mo., owner of starsandflags.com, whose main goal is to support and promote our veterans. Smith is also an active member of the Military Writers Society of America, a graphic designer, and is soon to start writing her first book about veterans. The book awards program runs from Feb. through Veterans Day, Nov. 11. Anyone interested in the program can find more information at http://www.starsandflags.com or by email at nancysentertainment@yahoo.com

About the Book: Forgotten Soldiers is a Cold War Mystery that has never been told.  The fictional story about a Forgotten era where the Cold War was fought in places like Europe, Russia, Korea, Vietnam and throughout the world.  What Happened to Jacob Walden is a mystery about what happened after he was shot down in Vietnam in 1970. Forgotten Soldiers is a compelling Historical War Fiction with Action, Drama, Mystery and Espionage, filled with twist and surprises.  It’s not just a POW story - it’s a story about the Forgotten POW who never returned.   “To tell anymore would be a spoiler” one reviewer has said and others have asked “Did this really happen?”

BLACKJACK BOMBER

  A Novel by T.C. Miller

For those of you who have interest in Military related, terrorist and law enforcement type of books with plausible plots and lots of twist, turns and suspense, Check out Black Jack Bomber .
The Story and Background: Five average, middle-aged suburban guys jokingly call themselves the Thursday Night Mafia, and their weekly blackjack game appears to be an innocent pastime. But looks can be deceiving, as casual talk over cards leads to an ill-fated plot to scam Lake Tahoe casinos. Their lives are thrown into a downward spiral faster than you can shuffle the cards.

Caught red-handed by mob goons, and facing certain death if they don't repay a fortune they don't have, they turn to Rick. He secretly schemes to use their inside knowledge of Air Force operations to his own end, as they commandeer a plane with nuclear weapons for ransom.

But the Black Jack Bomber holds secrets bigger than Rick's, and a crack security team of Air Force specialists and National Security agents race against the clock to hunt down Rick. His vengeful plan includes the destruction of Lake Tahoe and the death of thousands of people, and that's just for starters. He must be captured and the ultra-secret BlackStar System recovered before he can auction it off to the international terrorist community.

POW/MIA Recognition Day

Remembering the Forgotten National POW/MIA Recognition Day September 21, 2012 Most of us probably remember those Chuck Norris Missing in Action movies about the hidden POW’s of Vietnam and numerous other movies and books including my own “Forgotten Soldiers” book.  While books and movies provide entertainment and can draw attention to an issue or cause, there is still the true life reality for the POW’s, the Missing, and for their families.
The third Friday of September each year is designated as National POW/MIA Recognition Day. With the passage of time and national focus during the past decade on what has developed into a worldwide War, it has become an easy task for many Americans to Forget about a time before 9/11, and Forget about those who were POW’s and those who went Missing in the Cold War and previous Wars. Each year families of the missing remember their lost loved ones while every day others continue to make efforts to give those families closure through recovery operations conducted by the personnel at JPAC (Joint Prisoners of War, Missing in Action Accounting Command).
For most Americans JPAC is an unheard of acronym with an unknown mission of trying to recover the missing in places like Vietnam, Laos, Korea, Burma, throughout Europe, Russia, and around the world. In 2012 JPAC has recovered over 50 personnel.
The JPAC and other websites have numerous fact sheets and data about the POW/MIA’s and effort to answer questions about what happened to them.
The families of the missing and many of us have continued to make efforts keep the memory of the POW/MIA’s alive.  The National Alliance of Families  and The National League of POW/MIA Families  are just two of the organizations that make extensive efforts to maintain and create awareness of the POW/MIA issue and the pledge to never forget, and remember “You Are Not Forgotten”
Please Remember our POW/MIA’s and share the message.
