Hi, I’m Rachael Quisel! That rhymes with Ms. Frizzle, and we share the same motto, "Take chances, make mistakes, get messy!" I get to do this every day in my role as a Workflow Consultant with XRay. Puzzling solutions to fascinating challenges with the support of an amazing team of people is the best thing ever. I am constantly wondering what I did in my previous life to get so lucky in this one!! I live with my spouse, Tom, in Santa Barbara, CA. He launched his startup, Musubi, a few years ago, and you'll find us sharing take out, bent over our computers, late into the night. When not grinding it out (Grinding out work! What were you thinking?), we are at the behest of the meow-mandates of our three companion animals: Gandalf, Fern, and Cl ...more

Audre Lorde
“I want to live the rest of my life, however long or short, with as much sweetness as I can decently manage, loving all the people I love, and doing as much as I can of the work I still have to do. I am going to write fire until it comes out of my ears, my eyes, my noseholes--everywhere. Until it's every breath I breathe. I'm going to go out like a fucking meteor!”
Audre Lorde

George Saunders
“Fiction is a kind of compassion-generating machine that saves us from sloth. Is life kind or cruel? Yes, Literature answers. Are people good or bad? You bet, says Literature. But unlike other systems of knowing, Literature declines to eradicate one truth in favor of another; rather, it teaches us to abide with the fact that, in their own way, all things are true, and helps us, in the face of this terrifying knowledge, continually push ourselves in the direction of Open the Hell Up.”
George Saunders

Dinos Christianopoulos
“They tried to bury us. They didn't know we were seeds.”
Dinos Christianopoulos

Sarah Diemer
“Gay kids aren’t a “plot point” that you can play with. Gay kids are real, actual kids, teenagers, growing up into awesome adults, and they don’t have the books they need to reflect that. Growing up, my nose was constantly stuck in a book. Growing up as a lesbian, I was told over and over and over by the lack of gayness in said books that I did not exist. That I wasn’t important enough to tell stories about. That I was invisible. Why are we telling our kids this? Why are we telling them that they’re a minority, and they don’t deserve the same rights as straights, that they’re going to grow up in a world that despises them, that the intolerance of humanity will never change, that they’re worthless. It’s not true.”
Sarah Diemer

Ray Bradbury
“I wish for you a wrestling match with your creative muse that will last a lifetime. I wish craziness and foolishness and madness upon you. May you live with hysteria, and out of it make fine stories... Which finally means, may you be in love every day for the next 20,000 days. And out of that love, remake a world.”
Ray Bradbury
