Destiny's Fire

Her home and her secret are threatened when the Council lowers the barrier, allowing the enemy race to enter the Shythe haven.
As the Narcolym airships approach, Dez and her friends rebel against their Council and secretly train for battle. Not only is Dez wary of war and her growing affection for her best friend Jace, but she fears the change her birthday will bring. When Dez's newfound power rockets out of control, it's a Narcolym who could change her fate...… if she can trust him.
Dez's guarded world crumbles when she discovers why the Narcos have really come to Haven Falls, and she's forced to choose between the race who raised her and the enemy she's feared her whole life.

For Your Browsing Pleasure
Contemporary (Adult)
Build a Man  by Talli Roland (Chick Lit) Slave to the rich, rude and deluded, cosmetic surgery receptionist Serenity Holland longs for the day she's a high-flying tabloid reporter. Unfortunately, every pitch she sends out disappears like her clients' liposuctioned fat, never to be seen again. Then she meets Jeremy Ritchie -- the hang-dog man determined to be Britain's Most Eligible Bachelor by making himself over from head to toe and everything in between -- giving Serenity a story no editor could resist. With London's biggest tabloid on board and her very own column tracking Jeremy's progress from dud to dude, Serenity is determined to be a success, even going undercover to gain intimate access to Jeremy's life. But when Jeremy's surgery goes drastically wrong and Serenity is ordered to cover all the car-crash goriness, she must decide how far she really will go for her dream job. $0.99 on Amazon

The Golden Sky  by Elisa Hirsch (Memoir) The night I met Cade I never would've thought that two years later, after we were homeless street musicians in Hawaii, we would have a little girl and another baby on the way.  Our son was born with the type of birth defects that make televangelists cringe. The "death home" gave him a really nice funeral, the kind I'd never wished to attend. We lost it after that, totally cemented in our grief.  Cade got into drugs, joined a rock and roll band, and I kicked him out of the house. That was how I met: Earl (an old man and unlikely best friend), the "big sag" (a middle aged woman who still flashed folks), Todda (the stripper next door), and Chris (a cowboy who fell in love with me). It wasn't until I killed a rogue skunk, and my daughter nearly choked on a fry, that I gave my husband another chance.  But could our marriage recover from the death of our son? $2.99 onAmazon

Someone Else's Fairytale  by E.M. Tippetts (Contemporary Romance)  Jason Vanderholt is the hottest actor under thirty with legions of screaming fans. Chloe Winters is a college student who hasn't gotten around to watching most of his movies. When they meet by chance, he is smitten, but it just isn't her fairytale. In fact, it could be her worst nightmare as her past, attracted by the bright lights of the media, comes back to haunt her. $0.99 on Amazon

Historical Romance
(Adult)
The Duke's Divorce  by Anne Gallagher Available late January 2012A simple trip to the Scottish Highlands finds the Duke of Cantin with a bride he does not want.  With her impeccable beauty and fiery disposition, Fiona takes Society by storm.  As their prearranged divorce proceedings draw near, can Fiona change his mind? Check author's website.

Literary Fiction
String Bridge  by Jessica Bell Greek cuisine, smog and domestic drudgery was not the life Australian musician, Melody, was expecting when she married a Greek music promoter and settled in Athens, Greece. Keen to play in her new shoes, though, Melody trades her guitar for a 'proper' career and her music for motherhood. That is, until she can bear it no longer and plots a return to the stage—and the person she used to be. However, the obstacles she faces along the way are nothing compared to the tragedy that awaits ... $6.99 on Amazon ALSO:  Music Sample!
Mystery
Sherwood Ltd.  by Anne R. AllenSherwood. The name immediately conjures up images of Richard Greene, Michael Praed and Russell Crowe. Or maybe that sly fox in the Disney version. Only, in Anne R. Allen's latest rom-com mystery the fox is a coyote and there's no Robin Hood. Or is there? In her usual inimitable fashion Allen peels back the layers, one hilarious subplot after another, until you just never know what's real and what's not. Rather like the Robin Hood legend. When the Manners Doctor, Camilla Randall, flies into Robin Hood airport with a suitcase in one hand and a book contract in the other she thinks she's leaving all her problems behind and is about to start a new life. If you look very carefully you may just spot the Sheriff of Nottingham, Maid Marian and even Little John hidden away. But as for Robin Hood
himself... You'll just have to read it and find out.  $2.99 on Amazon

Funniest holiday moment

I hope you had a wonderful holiday. I spent mine with family and friends and I think everyone was happy with what Santa brought.

The funniest moment this holiday was the family photo. You know the one where someone sets up a tripod, everyone huddles together, the timer is set, light flashes, and click -- that special moment is frozen in time forever. This year my mom could not stop laughing. Her laughter was contagious and soon we were all laughing. It took several tries, but we did manage to get a picture with everyone looking and no one cracking up.

Speaking of family and special moments, my mom gave me and my sister a picture of us with our great grandmother. I have very fond memories of Nona and I just love the picture. That's my sister on the left showing off the earrings she was trying on, me in the middle and Nona on the right.

What was your funniest holiday moment? I'd love to hear from you.

Thank you and flowers to brighten the day

I want to take a moment to thank everyone who helped to make Embrace's Book Birthday so wonderful. I'm still working on tallying the entries and will be announcing the winners later this week.

On news, Omnific Publishing interviewed me yesterday. You can read more here.

And I thought I'd share the beautiful flowers I received from my family. My parents sent me this exotic zen arrangement. It has some of the most interesting flowers and a very unique almost citrus scent.

And my guys brighten up the room with these amazing colorful roses. I seriously want to know how they made them such a pretty rainbow of colors.

That's all for now.

In my mailbox

I remember when I was young and my mom would ask me to get the mail. I'd slip on my shoes and make the long trek down the driveway. The door on the mailbox would stick a little, so I had to tug hard. Inside was always a stack of envelopes. Sometimes there was a financial magazine or sales fliers. I'd flip through the various pieces of mail as I slowly walked back to the house. It was usually stuff for my parents, but every once in awhile I'd find something with my name on it. I'd be so excited that I got mail, I'd skip back to the house, kick off my shoes, and rush to open it. When you're a kid, mail is fun. Birthday cards with a brand new dollar bill carefully tucked in the fold of the stiff cardboard, notes from penpals, maybe even a box with something fun inside.
One of the downfalls of growing up is mail takes on a whole new meaning. Bills and junk mail you'd wish the companies would stop sending (just think how many trees could be saved!) seem to be the norm. But every now and then you get something that makes you skip up the driveway again, making you feel like the seven-year-old you from your past. It's a great feeling! Looky what I got…

Today's teaser:

"Thanks for helping today." Isaac looked at me, his eyes smoldering as he leaned over the stick shift and brushed my lips with one of his feather-soft kisses that sent a warm tingling sensation all the way to my toes.
No one who could get my heart beating as fast as it was with such a brief kiss could possibly be bad. I was sure of it.

The things we remember

First I'd like to congratulate Crystal Hill and FreakChiq. They won the eCopies of Debra Anastasia's novel Poughkeepsie. Thanks for participating in the Poughkeepsie Come Home Tour giveaway.
Not too long ago, my husband and I were having a late lunch at Joe's Crab Shack. If you've never been think casual dining, fun pictures laminated on top of each table, rolls of brown paper towels in lieu of napkins, a silver bucket for your shells, plastic sharks hanging from the ceiling… you get the picture. We were seated next to a row of tie-dye T-shirts. This reminded me of when I was in fifth grade. It was craft day and we were going to make our very own tie-dye T-shirts. I'd been waiting for this day for two years. Yep, TWO years. Ever since my sister came home with her amazingly bright tie-dye shirt.
It was finally my turn. I remembered to stuff my new white T-shirt into my backpack (no tie-dye socks because I forgot).  I was all set. Only art was at the end of the day and it happened to be on a day when those in orchestra would normally get to leave early.  (Ya, that right there is a little known fact about me; I played the viola for a year, but that's a whole different story for another day.) I had orchestra every week. Tie-dye day came once in a girl's grade school career. I figured when the announcement came over the loud speaker telling the students to get on the bus for orchestra practice I'd just pretend I didn't hear it. Miss the bus. Get to create a colorful shirt. Life was good.
My plan didn't take in account that my arch enemy had art with me. She was more than happy to scream out CHERIE IS IN ORCHESTRA. SHE HAS TO LEAVE. She then gave me one of those smug looks that lets you know she did it to be mean. I was too young to use profanity, so I made my meanest face and snarled at her as I trudge out of the classroom.
I never did like that girl. Do you know to this day I never got to make a tie-dye T-shirt? I don't even know why I still remember this. I wouldn't wear tie-dye now. But sitting in the restaurant surrounded by all the tie-dye shirts made me remember how much I was looking forward to that project.
I suppose I should forgive and forget, but considering how I still remember how awful I felt that day, I think it's safe to say that's just not going to happen anytime soon.
Have you ever wanted something really bad? You waited patiently for your turn only to have it snatch from your grasp moments before it was yours?
It's Omnific Publishing's Author! Author! Blog Bounce time.
