Plague!
I have reached the halfway point in the sequel to my biomedical thriller Gargoyles. http://amzn.to/w4e7k5 Plague is the continuation of the Amoreena Daniels' story--only now it's four years later. I'm really excited about how book two of The Resurrection Trilogy is developing. What's next for the brilliant and beautiful Amoreena? Giant Cats!
The true Smilodons lived from 2.5 million up to approximately 10,000 years ago. These majestic predators roamed North America until the end of the Ice Age. There are actually three Smilodon species, though Smilodon fatalis is the most well known. Weighing up to 600 pounds Smilodon fatalis was about the size of present day Siberian tigers. The huge cat in SMILODON is much larger because of a mutated atavistic gene. Technically Smilodons were not tigers, yet they are often referred to as saber-toothed tigers. Tigers belong to a different subfamily of felines. These huge cats, famous for their large canines sometimes approaching a foot in length, preyed on the large mammals of their time—bison, deer, tapir, camels and ground sloths. There is some evidence they might have even killed smaller mastodons and mammoths as well as prehistoric humans. The giant predator in SMILODON fed on elk and moose and deer, though once homo sapiens invaded his domain, the human carnage became inevitable. No one messes with an enraged Smilodon, especially a mutated one, and lives to tell about it.

SMILODON!
SMILODON was released this evening and this giant cat is roaming a forest near you!
Though these incredible animals died out nearly 10,000 years ago, their fossils are still found in North America and tell us these predators really were an animal that nature pretty much got right the first time around. SMILODON
In two weeks, the largest cat to stalk the North American continent in 12,000 years will be released--actually it's just the book. Final edits for SMILODON are complete and at the formatters. Smilodon

Release date is tentatively set for September. Here's the storyline.
Seven years after a near-fatal mauling by a grizzly bear, in which his only son was killed, Jason Bristol, a one time prize-fighter is back in the woods tracking again--when he’s not nursing the nearest fifth of whiskey.
Then Jason’s best friend and mentor is discovered half-buried beneath a mat of pine needles. The prospector’s mangled corpse has been mauled virtually beyond recognition. A rancher loses a prize thoroughbred and suddenly the nightmare responsible for Jason’s downward spiral is rekindled as Jason is thrust back into the wilderness on the trail of a predator that defies belief.
The time clock has begun for Norah Phelps, too, daughter of multimillionaire real estate developer Richard Phelps whose recent purchase of the 95,000 acre former Clarksdale Animal Preserve has pitted environmentalist and wildlife biologist daughter against capitalist father. Norah, responsible for relocating the local wolf population, remains unconvinced a pack of marauding wolves are accountable for the attacks and enlists Jason’s help in her quest for the real killer before the spate of killings can jeopardize not only her future but also the future of her father’s prize development project.
Against the majestic pristine backdrop of Idaho’s Bitterroot Wilderness Area, the story unfolds. Jason, with Norah’s assistance, soon discovers the ghosts of his past are nothing compared to the battle he’s undertaken.

GIRL BLUE
GIRL BLUE, the story of a terminally ill sculptor who becomes haunted by his last work, was acquired by Samhain Publishing in August and is set for release in March 2012. Don D'Auria, a veteran of the horror genre, was the aquisition editor. GIRL BLUE will be a frighteningly good read!
