News. Links. And what do you know? A brand new book.
Good morning, Elemental Mysteries fans!
Today is a good day. Why? Well, today, the finished manuscript of A Fall of Water goes to my lovely editor Amy Eye. There, in her magic cave of editing, she shall wave her magic editing wand, chant to the punctuation gods, and offer libations of black coffee ALL in the quest to get the book ready for you—the readers—in June.
See, it’s all very mystical. Right, Amy?
To keep you entertained until then, I have NEWS. Lovely news. Prizewinning news. Teasing news.
Yes, there is a new teaser posted here. It’s a short one, but I promise next week’s packs a solid punch.
Advanced Reading Copies of A Fall of Water will be going out to reviewers soon, and there might just be a way that you could win one, too! Be looking for contest news in the next week or so.
And, just to mention for readers who like contemporary romance, The Genius and the Muse releases today! It’s been getting very good advance reviews, and I hope you might download a sample if you’re interested. It’s a love story, of course, but it’s also about life and family, betrayal and reconciliation. It’s set in the art world and is a story that is very close to my heart. The links to buy the book are all right here. The paperback is already available for order at Amazon and should be in expanded distribution in the next few weeks. The Kindle and Nook editions are selling for $3.99, and the paperback is $11.99.
Hope you have a great week, and I’ll be posting more interesting trivia in the coming weeks, now that the month-of-many-manuscripts is over!
Thanks for reading,
Elizabeth

A New Teaser and an AMAZING Giveaway/Fundraiser
Good morning, Elemental Mystery readers!
Well, I’m coming up to the end of my edits for A Fall of Water: Elemental Mysteries Book Four. Then, I put the manuscript in the very capable hands of my editor, Amy Eye, who will brush everything up and get it ready to deliver to you all in June. (Which is approaching very fast—yikes!)
Though things have been a little crazy on the home front lately (including an unexpected move back to Central California for me), I’m very excited to get the last volume of Gio and B’s story to you readers. Fingers crossed, the cover might be done next week, too. I’ll let you know!
In other publishing news, my contemporary romance, The Genius and the Muse, releases next week. More importantly, I’m taking part in an amazing fundraiser/giveaway for a very good cause. Please check out the information here to find out how you can win over fifty signed copies from many different authors, including at least three current NYT Bestsellers. I’m proud to be in this group and so happy to contribute a signed copy of A Hidden Fire to the grand prize. Please check out the giveaway and fundraiser and spread the word online. It’s a very worthy cause.
And be sure to click the link for your new teaser from book four: July 2011.
Thanks for reading and have a peaceful week,
Elizabeth

The return of Ben: A new teaser and a spring sale on my first book
For those of you who have been missing Ben, he’s in the new teaser for A Fall of Water posted HERE. Ben is a favorite of mine so I hope you like the new piece of the prologue!
PUBLISHING NEWS: Edits on Book Four are coming along, despite some craziness in my personal life. I don’t have a cover yet, but I hope to have one posted by the end of the month. I’m super excited about the release of my contemporary romance I blogged about last week. It’s set in the art world and it’s probably a bit different from what you might expect. (You didn’t expect me to be normal, did you?) I hope you might consider checking it out.
WRITING NEWS: As far as future work in the Elemental Mysteries world goes, I’m still working on Carwyn’s book, which will tie into the Elementals world, but definitely be a stand-alone story for our favorite priest. Rest assured, it will NOT be simply a rehash of Gio and B’s story from his perspective. That Carwyn is an interesting guy, and he has his own story to tell. I’ll keep you posted as I write more. I’m also working on a short story to introduce another paranormal series that’s in the planning stages. I’m hoping to have that up as a short over the summer, but we’ll just have to see how it goes. It’s a very exciting new world I’m developing, and I can’t wait to really dig into it.
SPRING SALE: In addition to the paperback give-away I’m running on my Facebook page (check the link here there’s not very many entries!) I’m also running a spring sale for A Hidden Fire. Right now, the first book in the series is just $1.99! So tell your friends/coworkers/mom/dog-walker/hairdresser/grocery checker-outer to pick it up. And if you’ve read the book and haven’t reviewed, please consider leaving one. I’m not begging… exactly. But honest reviews really do make a difference for people looking for good books. I’d be very grateful if you took a few minutes to do that wherever you bought the book.
All in all, this has been a very busy month on a lot of levels, but I’m so excited to share my stories with you, readers. You are incredibly important to me, so believe me when I say, sincerely…
Thanks for reading,
Elizabeth

Thinking about vacations and a new teaser for A Fall of Water.
Dear wonderful people, I confess, I've been thinking about traveling lately.
In my younger years, I was a bit of a gypsy. I loved it. I took my first trip from California to Colorado by myself when I was thirteen. Cross country by train is a great way to travel, and I loved every bit of it. I traveled to Arizona on my own. Honduras. Mexico. Washington D.C. for a school trip. Across the continental United States in the back of a station wagon and up to Northern California many, many times, all before the age of eighteen. When it was time to go to school? Well, going half-way across the country to Texas didn't seem like it was that big a leap.
During college and immediately after I traveled to Greece and the Middle East. I did the backpacking thing through Europe for several months. Half of that trip was with a close friend, and then we parted ways and went our own directions. She stayed in Italy, I traveled farther west.
Looking back, I imagine I drove my parents crazy. They never knew what country I was going to be in from one week to the next. But, I was a pretty confident young woman and a lot of that was because of the trust they put in me. Long story short, I love to travel. I love to travel on my own. But when you're a married mother of an almost-seven-year-old ninja, that just doesn't happen all too often.
So, I've been thinking about vacations. About travel and stretching my legs. I've been getting itchy feet, readers, but unfortunately I'm fairly planted at the moment. That's probably one of the reasons that my characters travel far and wide. I get to live vicariously through them. And I hope you enjoy their adventures, too. That was always one of my favorite things about reading; it's the cheapest vacation around!
You've probably guessed by the first chapter of A Fall of Water that much of the action (but not all!) will take place in Rome, which is a city I absolutely adore. If you've never been, make it a point to go; the energy is incomparable.
So, here's your next teaser for Book Four. A little snippet from March. And tell me, imaginary or not, where'd you like your next vacation to be?
Thanks for reading,
Elizabeth

What’s the big deal about noses? And a new teaser for Book Four.

It is a very handsome nose, David.
Hello my lovely readers!
Just a quick post today to remind you of your weekly teaser for A Fall of Water is posted here. And I’m also featured over on the very kind Jennifer M. Barry’s blog, Life in Words, where she wrenches great secrets from me like who Doyle the Cat is based on and what color my umbrella is. It’s hard-hitting journalism, folks, don’t miss it. And if you like Jennifer’s interview, make sure to drop her a comment and wander around. She’s had some great writers featured over there!
Jennifer and I got into a very silly twitter conversation about the odd search terms that lead readers to our sites. My favorite of hers was “creepy Liam.” (I think she’s the top hit on Google for that one!) My oddest would have to be either “mathematics in zoology” or “David Gandy nose.” (Which, apparently, led NINE readers to this site in one day!) People, I have no idea. I think the lovely Mr. Gandy has a picture posted of him in the dream cast vote, but as far as I know, I’ve never blogged about his nose. With that kind of popularity, though, maybe I should think about it.
Anyway, I know a lot of people reading here have their own blogs, so tell me: What’s the strangest search term that’s ever led to your blog?
Thanks for reading,
Elizabeth

New teaser from A Fall of Water: Elemental Mysteries Book 4
Dear wonderfulamazingawesome readers,
Thank you all for making the launch of The Force of Wind: Elemental Mysteries Book 3 such a success along with my blog tour from A Tale of Many Reviews. I've been overwhelmed by the positive reception and growing enthusiasm for the series, and I want to thank all of you who have read, reviewed, and recommended my books to friends and family.
If I could ask my readers for anything more at this point, it would be to please consider leaving a review where you bought your copy of the book, whether at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, or Smashwords. Honest reviews really do help potential readers find what they're looking for in the crowded marketplace of the Kindle or Nook stores. If you have the time, I would greatly appreciate it!
For those of you who have already bought and read The Force of Wind, you also got the first chapter of A Fall of Water at the end of the book. You may also have noticed that there was a year missing from the timeline!
My, oh my. What did Gio and B get up to in that missing year? Never fear, I have twelve scenes from their missing year in the Cochamo Valley to share with you to tide you over until the fourth book is released. Twelve scenes for twelve weeks (approximately the time until the next book release).
See? I'm not so mean.
Warning: If you have NOT read The Force of Wind yet, do not read these scenes! They are highly spoilerish for the third book as they take place immediately after.
So, if you're anxiously awaiting the fourth book in the series, here is your teaser to tide you over: January.
Thanks for reading,
Elizabeth
