Queen of America: new cover
I don't think I showed you the new cover for the paperback release of Queen of America. I think Little, Brown wanted it to be more of a matching set with the paperback of The Hummingbird's Daughter. Though I really, really LOVE the cover from the original hardcover release, I quite like this one, too.
She looks like the covergirl from Hummingbird, but all grown up. What do you think?

It will be available in December, but you can pre-order now from all of the usual places.

A little bribery ...
Horribly behind on my blogging responsibilities. This I know. I promise to make it up to you. Next week.
Until then, I have a couple of things to share with you:
If you follow me on Facebook and/or Twitter, you know I've had a lot to say about the ethnic studies/book banning in Arizona. Trying to do as much as I can to support efforts to change the ridiculous situation developing out there. An incredible graphic artist in Iowa City was so moved by the bravery of the students and the Save Ethnic Studies movement that she designed a pair of letterset broadsides that use quotes from The Devil's Highway and Queen of America. I am so proud to have my work associated with her art. She designed and printed the limited edition broadsides to specifically benefit Save Ethnic Studies. We distributed a bunch in Tucson at the Festival of Books (I still need to talk to you about that!) and took orders for others -- and thanks to you, will send $900 to Save Ethnic Studies!
My pal Trinity Ray has just put up a pair (the last of 'em) for auction on ebay with ALL proceeds going to Save Ethnic Studies. You can see the broadsides and bid here. They are gorgeous and you should bid on them. It's important.

I am on my way tomorrow to Denver where I will be named the newest Evil Companion! I am so excited about this I can't tell you. You can read about it here and here. Some of my favorite writers are Evil Companions, including Pam Houston, Thomas McGuane and Ted Conover. Hope you can make the party if you are in the area.
AND FINALLY:
Me and Bill Moyers. They're finishing up edits on my segment with him that we taped last month. Don't have official word on air date but will let you know when I do. They seem excited. Just hoping not to embarass myself! Remember: "Moyers & Company airs weekly on public television – Check your local listings " You can check details at www.BillMoyers.com.
OK, will work on the backfill blog postings and get back to you after Denver.
