“Hundreds of wide eyes, the eyes of something perhaps human, watched the man under the tree. Hungry but nervous, they made no move, staved off by their own fears of the unknown. Bizarre figures lurked amongst the trees, odd magic swamped the humming air, all centred around a beating heart of impossibility.”

This is an extract fromPliny’s Natural History, written around AD 77 - and it still makes reference to Penny Royal as a cure for digestive complaints. More writing means more ink. My mum once humorously observed that I was “going to have to sell a lot of books” to make up for the outlay in ink cartridges. This is true. Very true. Either way, the Blue Bricks Part I is now around 225 pages long - I reckon in about 90 more pages the first, handwritten draft will be finished completely and then the actual work aspect of things will have to begin.
