Benny's Blog
Hi all,
During my school tour this year which has been on behalf of the 2012 National Year of Reading in Australia, kids have asked me all sorts of great questions about how to get writing; how they can make the time; where they can write... because not everyone has a private bedroom in this world!
So UnicornKisses has reopened Benny's Blog, http://unicornkisses.com/blog/
where kids can ask Benny the unicorn all sorts of questions and, also, where they can help each other with ideas about writing, art, music and the things they love to create.
UnicornKisses thought it was timely since the WISH trilogy is now quickly increasing in popularity for kids from the age of 8 to 15. This trilogy grows in its theme and style until the very end, so expect it to grow and change!
The WISH trilogy goes on sale in eBOOKS as well as its current paperback form, from these outlets- www.amazon.com, www.barnesandnoble.com/, www.unicornkisses.com, www.fishpond.com.au and www.greatmindsliterarycommunity.com, as of the 28th August 2012 in both paperback and NOW in eBOOKS! So, during the first week of September, in conjunction with the eBook launch and for my blog tour, there will be giveaways and fantastic sale prices of the books.
Back to Benny's Blog - Benny the unicorn has all sorts of tips he's keen to share with kids about writing, art and other stuff... and, once a month or so, our bloggers get the chance to win a Free digital copy of one of the WISH books... so get blogging with Benny!http://unicornkisses.com/blog/?page_i...
Best Wishes!

Kids and reading!
Hello to everyone!
This year is filling up with children, and more children... not my own... but school children!
The first exciting event for me has been as a 2012 National Simultaneous Story time Reader, in Tasmania, with a wonderful group of Year 2&3 children... We all had a great interactive session and then UnicornKisses invited the kids to become a part of their WISH 1st Edition & Benny Posters Giveaway!
It was incredibly difficult to choose who should win because all of the fifty or so entries of '25 words or less' entries were fabulous, so we extended the prizes from 2 books and 2 poster sets to 4 of each... and then still felt so sad that we couldn't give prizes to everyone... but UnicornKisses stickers and bookmarks were given to all so no one went empty handed.
With more schools to give my interactive 'Talk to an author' presentations to this year, (and more prizes,) this should be a great year for reading and literacy, and I look forward to the coming months!
Cheers,
Deby

2012 National Year of Reading in Australia
Do you remember the excitement of taking your first book out of the library, whether it was a school library or a public one? How it felt when you held an unknown book in your hand and knew that soon, you would welcome a whole new world into your life and that it might change you forever?
Well, this year is Australia's National Year of Reading, a great initiative to encourage literacy and reading amongst young and old. I'm really proud to be a part of it, giving talks to schools, book clubs, Youth Groups and also a homeless shelter. Everyone on this site knows the joy of reading for fun, but the National Year of Reading is about so much more... it's about showing people who've decided that literacy left them far behind, that it is still for them, and about showing children that no matter what, there's a reason for understanding and appreciating the written word, even if you aren't a 'reader'; whether it be to have a better job, to be able to drive, and so on. Without the 'simple' act of reading we are kept in s world where the light hides behind the curtains, never quite allowing the room of your mind to fully shine.
So let's make this the year when we show a child that they too, can love to read!
Great reading to you all!

Launched with success!
Hello Everyone!
It was just wonderful to see all of our invited guests at the WISH trilogy launch. We could not have wished for more positive, joyful and inspiring guests and well-wishers. Thank you all so much for attending and bringing your big smiles and heartfelt applause and for buying books and joining whole-heartedly in the spirit of this occasion
We wanted to make this launch a happy, memorable occasion for everyone and so each small detail was a joy to plan and prepare for, not to mention the successful choice of venue at Southern Highlands Wines where I feel they really shone in providing amazing service and a beautiful location.
There will be an editorial and a great many more photos posted to our Facebook pages:
Deby Adair/Unicornkisses/Unicorns, www.unicornkisses.com and of course, in selected local newspapers. That editorial will be provided by the up and coming talent of Lillian Watkins - we hope she will be a future writer in her own right, and we are very much looking forward to receiving her take of events.
Our esteemed guest speaker, Mr Martin George excelled himself and his glowing report of his part in this journey, of the books and the author were lovely, cleverly thought out and delivered, extremely generous, and so well received.
Simone Knight, our Master of Ceremonies and her lovely daughter Sarah, were just a rock, on and before the day, and words cannot express our love and appreciation for them.
And something new: Wish Again- Dreams Truth and The Third Wish- Dreams Honour have been nominated for the 2011 Australian Aurealis Awards in fantasy and Young Adult fiction genre!
Best Wishes to you all, it was wonderful to share this event with you!

Launching and toasts...
Hi all,
With only 22 days to go to the official WISH trilogy launch, there is one kind of activity at UnicornKisses - frenetic ! Ok, the author's finally decided to wear the red shoes and not the sage ones and we're having a lot of fun making up the complimentary gift packs, and anticipating a lovely crowd of special guests there, but it has been one huge, rather unpredictable, powerful and often just plain difficult year... a break at Christmas is looking good, before it all starts again in 2012!
Next year the trilogy will go into
e-books and worldwide distribution as well as being purchased from the current distributors, (www.fishpond.com.au and www.unicornkisses.com ) and will be accessible in both paper and e-book - plus we're planning more free offers and exciting new inititives for 2012!
We love books and books love us. :)
Best Wishes!

The love affair.
Hi all,
Someone asked me, with humour, if I meant to rate my own books on this site, and I replied that at first I was a little reluctant to do it... was it a bit like people who laugh at their own jokes before anyone else does? But then after I thought about it, all writers and artists know that if you really believe in your work, your characters, your inspiration and your creation process, then you SHOULD be able to rate your own books.
Writing for me, was better than any love affair. Creating my books was heady, fun, wonderful and fulfilling... quite simply, I love every moment of writing! I'm a big believer that what you love, shows. The proof of the pudding, as they say, is in the eating, and in this case, in the reading... and best of all, others have rated my written adventures even more highly than I have.
Cheers,
Deby
