Absolutely, in fact, that’s why I started carrying in the first place. Of course, I knew the risk I was taking because they told us specifically not to carry a weapon. I got pulled over and was therefore very late coming back from that run requiring me to give some explanation. I didn’t think it was a big deal to tell the truth, so I did. Well, they checked up on it the next day and found out what had happened. I still remember exactly where I was and what I was doing when I got the call (I had driven to Subway for lunch before work and got the call from my boss right after I pulled out of the parking lot).
It was pretty much common knowledge around here that a delivery driver was in danger whenever he was at work (even in an area like the one I was in where there was a small but geographically concentrated black population). I’d have to go look up the details to see if what I had heard about drivers being murdered was real (you and I know it almost certainly was–especially considering we’re talking about Little Rock, AR).
But what is perhaps more interesting are all of the events that eventually led me to your YouTube channel. Just like the naive pseudo-liberal I was back then I didn’t think it was a big deal to move my family into the actual city of Little Rock. Needless to say I’ve had to brandish my gun at least once, call the police several times for domestic issues (not mine), had 3 guns, a laptop, camera, cell phone, etc. stolen out of my car (more than 1 occasion). Had a black homeless guy jack my weed-eater after I paid him to weed-eat my lawn. A (white) friend of mine was raped all night, at gunpoint *in my girlfriend’s apartment* by two black men who were never caught. I witnessed the tail-end of an armed robbery in which two black men stole a phone, purse, wallet, etc. from a woman with a baby stroller. He threatened to kill her baby apparently…
And I had a brand new, $500 bike stolen.
I, idiotically, used to ride to/from school (UALR) at all hours of the night. People were constantly robbed, beaten and sometimes shot at/killed within close proximity to that school (it’s an island of white/Asian right in the middle of diversity). There was a girl who was abducted from the same parking lot I used when I drove to school. I was interviewed by the local paper after the incident. Her body was later found in a swamp. I don’t know if they ever caught him but I’m almost certain the prime suspect was her black boyfriend.
I could probably go on and on if I really sat down and thought about it, but I’ll cut you some slack.
P.S.
And then, of course, there’s my brother-in-law who lives right smack-dab in the middle of diversity in New Orleans. He has been stabbed on two separate occasions by two different black men. The most notable incident is where her was riding his bike, a man asked to bum a smoke and when he did the man stabbed him literally in the back and ran off. Didn’t try to steal anything.
So, yeah, I know I’m not the only one so how can anybody in the South be in denial past their mid-20s or so? I may never fully understand.
Oh, and his (brother in law) 85 year old grandma was struck by a car on W Esplanade in Metarie (New Orleans). The person drove off and was never caught, however, witnesses described the driver as being, you guessed it, a black male. She died about a year later.

Letter from childhood.
Hello Colin. I’ll jump right into it. My first day of school 4th grade, Hillcrest Elementry. I was one of 4 white students in the school. There was one other white kid in my class. At the time I thought nothing of it that she was at the very front of the class.
I was happy and excited about starting a new school, and new friends. The teacher put me in the desk right up front. Right next to her desk. The reason becomes relevant later in the story.
So I was introduced and sat down. A few of the students had already begun whispering racial slurs, but I really did not pay much attention as I was nervous being my first day.
The teacher gave out an assignment and left the room. I began working, the room began to get louder and louder. The next thing I know, I look up and a young man was standing right in front of me.
I stuck out my hand and began to announce my name as an introduction and a hand shake. He slapped my hand away and told me to shut up. I was confused. He kept standing in front of me staring a hole through me. Then he says aloud. I’m sick of our class getting all the GD white people.
The next thing I know, I see him turn and with a wide swing he spun around and hit me so hard it knocked me out and dislocated my jaw. I woke up in the principal’s office.
The principal was a lady, she asked me what happened, I told her. She then began to tell me that if i were smart, I would forget this ever happened, and if i said anything to my parents she would make sure I would fail.
She then began to tell me what I needed to tell my parents. The story was I had fallen from the monkey bars, And that was my first day at Hillcrest Elementry School. Sorry for the spelling, new laptop.
Oh keep in mind, this time of my life was very confusing for me. I had never had to deal with racist people before. The black people I was used to were kind and very good friends of mine from my previous school.
I will try and write a bit more of my story once a week if you like? I will also try and recall more details as I have worked to forget this time of my life for the most part. Thank you for your interest.

I went to Hillcrest Elementry school and high school there in Memphis. There was not a single day that went by where I was not assaulted because i was white.
The teachers and staff could not punish the students for there actions against me in fear that it would make it worse. We eventually had to move as doctors that I was being beat by my parents but it was by the kids at school.
But no one would believe me or my parents because nothing was ever reported or documented by school staff, also black.The breaking point was after I was stabbed. Thank god those days are over.
I understand today that the kids were simply acting the way they were taught by there stupid racist parents. I was not taught to be racist and for a long time I did not understand why the black kids hated me so much. Of course i learned quick it was of course because of my skin color.
I don’t hold any grudges or ill will towards anyone. I am thankful i was able to get past it and get an education in spite of two years of pure hell.

Bike Trails in the Ghetto.
Colin, after watching your videos about crime on bike and walking trails around the country I thought I would share a couple of my own stories. In Oklahoma City “OKC” the city has spent over 45 million dollars and I read and heard they are looking to spend an additional 35 million to go along with the state of the art white water training center for the USA Olympic team and water park on the river area in OKC downtown area.
It connects with the Bricktown area where all the bars, restaurants, movie theaters are. Where the tourist go. OKC promotes this area heavily and have built paved bike/running trails along the river really a beautiful area. They even offer bikes to enjoy the trails as part of the water park. OK to the point after all this money and saying its a great place to come if you go less than 1/4 mile from the park on the trail you will end up in the hood the true ghetto of OKC.
You know the gang graffiti, crackhouses, stripped cars and shootings. The city has no problem sending tourist down there and saying its safe when you go less than 2 blocks from the sound of birds to the sounds of gunfire. Truely sad. YES I FOUND OUT AFTER I WENT ON A BIKE RIDE THERE LOL http://boathousedistrict.org/whitewater/about-whitewater/
Second is all the bike and walk trails in Wichita, Ks a lot of these areas are in the worst crime/black town . The railroads have pulled out the rails and donated the area to the city because the dont want to pay taxes on the land. The city also pushes this area as a beautiful place to be.
There is so much crime along these trails its crazy. They even put a nature walk straight in the ghetto I mean we take 2, 2 man units with us when we go to calls in that area. The hipsters and older people go there and get robbed all the time. But, its just another random crime. Its also less than 2 miles from Wichita State another university in the hood.
The University police are considered State Police jurisdiction so to keep things under wrap and crime down. The only want their officers “shaking doors” at night and righting parking tickets to college kids. Don’t stop and interview 5 guys with hoodies pulled over their head at 2 am in July in the Kansas heat.
