Does the Bible Support Racism & Slavery?

It is well nigh impossible to watch the news today, without hearing the word “racism” and references to “ slavery” as the staple . Is the condition of Americans really such, that everyone is so thoroughly imbued with those two plagues as to warrant conversing about nothing else?  Or are these issues being used as political talking points to win votes on our upcoming election day?
