AMERICAN FAMILY FIND FALLOUT SHELTER IN BACKYARD
G'day folks,
A Wisconsin family purchased a home knowing there was a big steel door in their backyard. They thought nothing of it and figured it was some sort of shelter or drainage access.
They paid no attention until they’d lived in the house for 10 years. One day their curiosity got the better of them and they decided to break the chains locking the heavy doors. They opened the doors and found a few feet of murky water inside a 8 foot by 10 foot chamber that the previous home owner had built for his family to shelter them in case of a nuclear attack.
Peering down into the dark hole they saw a few antique sealed military boxes floating in the muck below. Of course their excitement grew as they had no idea what was inside these floating treasures. They looked a little closer and saw that the boxes were for explosives and ammunition.
Immediately, they called the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF). Agents rushed to the scene to investigate. The family thought this was just an empty underground space but they were completely shocked when the agents opened the boxes and exposed the contents. What they found was surprising to say the least:

Clancy's comment: What a find, eh? It pays to be very observant and curious about things.

13 July 2020 - The Bethlehem-Fairfield Shipyard

The Bethlehem-Fairfield Shipyard
G'day folks, We often forget the human effort that went in to Allied war efforts during the Second World War, so it's always pertinent when old photographs emerge to remind us all how hard our forefathers had to strive in order to ensure the freedom of future generations. Below is a collection of images that capture life at the short-lived Bethlehem-Fairfield shipyard, which was located in Baltimore, Maryland, USA.

The Bethlehem-Fairfield shipyard was one of two new emergency shipyards constructed in the United States during World War II. These operations were part of the Emergency Shipbuilding Program, which was established by the US Maritime Commission in 1941.
The Emergency Shipbuilding Program was conceived because the US government needed to be able to move troops, material and cargo to allied countries, as well as to foreign theaters of war. In just four short years, more than 6,000 ships were built as part of the program.

Bethlehem-Fairfield got the first part of its name from the Bethlehem Shipbuilding Corporation, which the US government entrusted to run it. The second part came from its location, which was in the Fairfield area of the city of Baltimore.

The very first ship to launch from the Bethlehem-Fairfield shipyard was the Liberty Ship SS Patrick Henry. President Roosevelt presided over the ceremony. The occasion came to be known as Liberty Fleet Day, and that’s because 14 ships were launched across the US on the very same day. Some 384 of all the ships constructed at the shipyard during its time in operation were Liberty Ships, and each one was designed to carry more than 10,000 tons of cargo.

Nowadays, the former site of the shipyard is occupied by the entrance to the Baltimore Harbor Tunnel, so there sadly isn’t anything left to see. When it was active, the shipyard employed some 27,000 people, and they built no less than 523 emergency ships in the space of four years.

Classic Cars Found In An Abandoned Warehouse After 30 Years
G'day folks,
A short while back, a photographer was on a leisurely stroll through the countryside of Portugal when he came across a huge storage barn that had no place being where it was.
Looking out-of-place, his curiosity got the best of him and he decided to walk up to the building for a peek inside. What he saw made his jaw hit the floor. It was an absolute dream come true and he needed more details. He went up to the farm-house near the building and asked if he could take a look inside. The owner told him the story and made him swear to keep the location a secret. He was allowed to photograph the contents however he could not tell a soul where he found this hidden treasure. Check this out.
According to the property owner the cars will stay as they are and none will be sold.

10 July 2020 - STUNNING BEACH ART

STUNNING BEACH ART
G'day folks,
Land art is a vastly underrated form that often doesn’t get the appreciation it deserves. There are a number of talented artists in different corners of the world creating beautiful art on land that is usually forgotten.
A major reason for this is that land art is ephemeral and will get erased sooner or later. However, there are some works from this field that leave an indelible imprint in your mind.
Jon Foreman’s art falls in that category. Foreman is the creator of various styles of land art. Sometimes, he uses stones or driftwood on beaches or draws something massive on the sand. He doesn’t get bogged down by his work getting erased due to weather and immediate climate change either, for he believes that his art is part of the creative process from which he is supposed to learn regularly.
Here, is some of the best beach stone art by Jon Foreman. These are just stones he has found on the beach and organized them in stunning arrangements that are so pleasing to the eyes.

Clancy's comment: Brilliant work, eh? These must have taken hours to produce.

8-Year-Old Hero Carried His
Disabled Brother Through A Triathlon
G'day folks,
When you think of an 8-year-old, you think of an adventurous, outspoken, loud child. I am sure the word Hero doesn’t even come to mind. This story, will change your perspective on this incredible 8-year-old.

Meet Noah Aldrich. A 8-year-old boy from Idaho. When he heard about a youth triathlon in his area, he immediately wanted to do it with his little brother.
But the extraordinary thing is Noah’s little brother Lucas, six, was born with lissencephaly – a rare brain disorder that means he will never walk, talk, or eat on his own.

On July 12, the brothers took part in a 200-metre swim, three-mile bike ride and one mile run, with Noah carrying little Lucas in the sweltering heat the entire time. During the swimming portion he pulled his brother on a raft.

8 July 2020 - WHAT HAPPENS WHEN NATURE CLAIMS CIVILIZATION

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN NATURE CLAIMS CIVILIZATION
G'day folks,
My favourite thing about abandoned places is the history and life that precedes them. I feel as though I can imagine my own history when I see these abandoned places. I can entertain my own thoughts about what went on in these mysterious places. I think of either a spooky, dark and cold past that would have hints of Dracula’s castle or some dark lair used for scientific experiments.
Sometimes I think there was once an industrious work force powering something innovative and ahead of its time. Sometimes I think of wealthy families having conversations around a now rotten and moss-covered, elegant dining table. The best part about taking a look at abandoned places is you can draw your own conclusions and let your mind decide what life was like around these once grand structures. If they’re dark and scary looking, they are most certainly haunted. I’m almost sure of it.
It seems that these abandoned places take on a life of their own and create a sort of personality that is unique to the architecture or surroundings. The mystery is exactly what is so captivating and alluring when it comes to abandoned places. Here are some of the best ones I could find. Many will leave you stunned ...

Clancy's coment: Stunning, eh? Magnificent photography as well. Oh, the abandoned library is in Russia, and the mass of fish is in an abandoned mall in Bangkok. Gob smacking, eh?

STAIRS HAVE BECOME ART AROUND THE WORLD
G'day folks,
Abandoning the flat canvas of buildings, some street artists take to the stairs, transforming them into magnificent works of urban art.
It doesn’t matter whether it’s with paint, plants, mosaics or wallpapers – the end goal is beauty, shared and enjoyed by all.
This phenomenon is not a localized one and is happening all around the world. These are some of the world’s most stunning stairs:

Clancy's comment: Very clever indeed. I love the ones that incorporate plants.
