5 September 2021 - MILLIONAIRE FLATTENS VILLAGE AND REBUILDS NEW HOMES

MILLIONAIRE FLATTENS
VILLAGE
AND REBUILDS FREE NEW HOMES
G'day folks,
Oftentimes when you hear about rags to riches stories, you think that the person that made millions probably forgot where they came from. Well that is not the case at all in the story of Xiong Shuihua.
He was born in Xiongkeng village in the city of Xinju located in Southern China. He always said that his family was well looked after in their small village and that the residents supported them throughout his childhood. Rather than forgetting where he came from when he made his millions in the steel industry, he decided that it’s important that he spends his wealth giving back to the community, and he did this all for free!
When Xiong Shuihua returned to his village, he decided to give everybody a place of their own to live. The area was very run down and many lived in a basic home. He decided to transform this village, and ended up building 72 luxury flats for 72 different families in the village.
However, there were 18 different families that were extremely kind to the businessman and his family when he was growing up. For these families, he gave them their very own villas in the village. The project ended up costing over $5 million.

Once the families moved in, he even promised the older residents and the low-income residents three meals a day so they wouldn’t have to worry about feeding their family.
One resident named Qiong Chu, 75, said, “I remember his parents. They were kind-hearted people who cared very much for others, and it’s great that their son has inherited that kindness.”
Xiong Shuihua said, “I earned more money than I knew what to do with, and I didn’t want to forget my roots.” “I always pay my debts, and wanted to make sure the people who helped me when I was younger and my family were paid back.”

What a truly amazing story and an even more amazing businessman. It’s so great to hear when people remember where they came from, especially when they spend their hard-earned money giving back to the community, helping people who are less fortunate than them.

Clancy's comment: Great story, eh? There should be more of it.

MASSIVE POT FACTORY FOUND
IN TUNNEL IN WALES
G'day folks,
Recently in North Wales, police were tipped off about a legal mushroom farm.
They arrived at the location which was located deep inside old abandoned railway tunnels. They were aware that this was a legal operation housing a mushroom farm in the underground tunnels. What they were called about had nothing to do with the mushrooms. Police raided the railway tunnels and found huge steel doors, a secret entrance, and gates which lead to something very serious.

Clancy's comment: Mm ... a great idea has now gone up in smoke.

RARE PHOTOGRAPHS THAT
MIGHT SURPRISE YOU
G'day folks,
Whenever there is an old picture album lying around, I can’t help but pick it up and flip through it. Especially when that photo album has pictures from the early 1900s up through the 1960s or so.
You can learn so much about life just by looking through old photographs, but what happens when these photographs are actually photos featuring famous people who you have definitely heard mentioned before? These past photos reveal sides of famous people who most people have never seen before. I’m sure more than a few of these will surprise you and some might even make you laugh. Enjoy!

Clancy's comment: Who did you see? There were some infamous faces depicted.

3 September 201 - MEN FOUND IN FOREST 40 YEARS AFTER VIETNAM WAR

MEN FOUND IN FOREST 40
YEARS AFTER VIETNAM WAR
G'day folks,
This is a sad story of survival.
A very small child taken into the jungle and raised there. Sounds a lot like the plot from Tarzan, doesn’t it? But this is no movie. About 40 years ago during the Vietnam War, Ho Van Thanh was seen running into the woods with his then-infant son Ho Van Lang. At this point of the story you may ask ‘Where the child’s mother was?’. The answer to that question is pretty sad. A bomb exploded in his home during the war with the United States, killing his wife and two other children. An eyewitness reported seeing him grab his two-year-old son, Ho Van Lang, and run into the forest. Ho Van Tri, Tranh’s youngest son was left behind and rescued by relatives.
Fast forward 40 years to some villagers from the Tay Tra district out in the jungle looking for firewood. They noticed a strange bird-nest-like-hut built in a small clearing, near a stream. They decided to check it out and found two men living there. One was a weak 82-year-old man who could communicate in Cor ethnic minority language, but his 41-year-old son, who was wearing a loin cloth made from tree bark, only spoke a few words. The villagers alerted the authorities who later confirmed the two mysterious jungle dwellers were indeed Ho Van Tranh and Ho Van Lang.
Ho Van Thanh and his son were taken to the Tra Kem Village, where his youngest son is now taking care of them.
According to Thanh Nien News, it was Ho Van Tri, Tranh’s youngest son, who was left behind on that sad day in 1973 and rescued by relatives, who first found his father and brother 20 years ago, but he could not talk them into returning home.

He brought them salt and oil every year after that, but they never accepted him, and whenever he came with other villagers to convince them to come home, they ran into hiding.
Tranh’s nephew, Ho Ven Bien, told the local press they are very sad and clearly want to go back to their forest home. “My uncle doesn’t understand much of what is said to him, and he doesn’t want to eat or even drink water. We know he wants to escape my house to go back to the forest, so we have to keep an eye on him now,” Their daily diet included cassava, corn, and wild leaves, but the villagers also found a one hectare field planted with sugar cane, near their six-meter high wooden hut. The two men have had very little contact with the outside world during the last 40 years so you can only imagine how hard it is for them to be around so many people in a new environment.

The two real-life Tarzan’s also made their own knives, axes, and arrows for hunting.

Clancy's comment: Mm ... I'd have left them there, but made sure they had what they needed.

16 July 2021 - AMAZING ESCAPES FROM THE TOWER OF LONDON

AMAZING ESCAPES FROM
THE TOWER OF LONDON
G'day folks,
The Tower of London is a real stronghold, complete with its own guards, sky-tall walls, and a moat surrounding it. Still, 40 prisoners somehow managed to flee the Tower of London, one escape every 20-30 years. The first person to ever break free from the fortress was one Bishop Ranulf Flambard, who somehow got the guards so drunk that he successfully managed to slip away using a rope in 1101.
Some of these escapes were even more impressive and featured writing letters with invisible ink, dressing up as nuns, and drugging the guards - so that's where movie makers got the plots of pretty much every prison break movie imaginable!

31 August 2021 - BOXING MATCH WITH 42 ROUNDS

BOXING MATCH
WITH 42 ROUNDS
G'day folks,
The first “world championship” boxing match took place in 1860 – not in a grand stadium like New York’s Madison Square Garden that was to host later famous gladiatorial battles, but in an open field in southern England.
The contenders were 25-year-old John Carmel Heenan, the all-American champion, and England’s “Titch” Sayers, 34, who was described on posters as “the small, clever little ring general”. He needed to be. Weighing 149lb, Sayers was just 5ft 8in tall, while 6ft 2in Heenan tipped the scales at 195lb.
This was a bare-knuckle fight, which was illegal. But that didn’t stop a huge crowd gathering at the field just outside the village of Farnborough in Hampshire, many of the spectators having arrived by special trains from London. They were said to include the writers Charles Dickens and William Thackeray as well as the Prime Minister, Henry John Temple, and even the 18-year-old Prince of Wales, destined to become King Edward VII.
As the contenders stripped to the waist, Heenan is reported to have commented: "We have a fine morning for our business." Sayers replied: "If a man can't fight and win on such a crisp morning, then he can't fight at all."

The contest began at precisely 7.29am and the two men fought on for an astonishing and brutal two hours and 27 minutes. Battered and bloodied, they were preparing to come out for the 43rd round when police stormed the ring and brought proceedings to an end, with the crowd – and the pugilists – fleeing to escape arrest.
A reporter from Bell’s Life, Britain’s leading sporting newspaper, wrote: "The final round was merely a wild scramble, both men ordered to desist from fighting. Heenan had rushed away from the ring, and ran some distance with the activity of a deer, and although he was as fit as ever, he was obviously totally blind. Sayers, although tired, was also strong on his pins and could have fought some time longer."
The fight was declared a draw and the men were each paid £200 for their pains. Neither fought again and both died while still in their thirties.

Clancy's comment: Crazy, eh? Wow, both died young.

25 August 2021 - THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE SOVIET UNION

THE ESTABLISHMENT
OF THE SOVIET UNION
G'day folks,
In October 1918 the Bolsheviks in Russia overthrew the provisional government that had been established through a revolution in February that year. Almost immediately, an extremely devastating and deadly civil war erupted throughout the country.
By 1922 the Bolsheviks had destroyed their counter-revolutionary enemies, various independence movements and non-Bolshevik socialist foes. This had allowed them to create and sign the Treaty on the Creation of the USSR, which formed a union of the various Soviet republics - Russia, Ukraine, Transcaucasia and Byelorussia - into the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, or the Soviet Union.

This communist union would endure for almost seventy years and would greatly expand beyond its original four republics into fifteen. By the late 1980s however, economic and political pressure for an end to the dictatorship led to the gradual disintegration of the Soviet Union.
The leaders of three of the founding republics met on December 9, 1991, in Belarus, and agreed to dissolve the Union on December 26 by denouncing the Treaty and declaring it void. Thus the communist flag was lowered over the Kremlin for the last time that night and the various republics became independent states.

Clancy's comment: And, now we have Vladimir Putin at the helm.

23 August 2021 - GRANDSON FINDS TREASURE IN SAFE AT GRANDPARENT'S HOME

GRANDSON FINDS TREASURE IN
SAFE AT GRANDPARENT'S HOME
G'day folks,
I imagine and hope every day that I find myself in the classic scenario of finding a bag with a large sum of money in it underneath a street bench. So far luck has not been on my side, but I’m holding out hope.
Well, this family may have had an even better experience with what they found behind a fake wall in one of the many garages on their families property. Reddit user vsky and his family were starting the task of cleaning out and remodeling his grandparents old house 4 years after his grandma passed away. This last fall, he finally got around to remodeling her house and putting it on the market for sale.
They had lived there for 50 years and built the house themselves on 45 acres of land. Over the course of their time on the property, they had built multiple detached garages and sheds, 8 in total. While cleaning the final garage, vsky’s brother bumped into a wall that sounded suspiciously hollow to the family. They decided to tear down the wall, and what they found inside surprised everyone. A mammoth safe weighing in between 1,500 and 2,000 lbs! Check out this hidden old safe and see what it was they found inside!

This safe is absolutely huge! Getting it open was going to be quite the task. The family was about to give up and call a professional to come open the safe, however one of them made an interesting discovery. Vsky caught sight of a number written on one of the rafters in the garage containing the safe. The family then ran to the other garages and found 7 other numbers, one on a rafter in each of the separate garages. It took a while, but they eventually were able to piece the numbers together and make the combination and open the safe themselves. How cool is that!?

Inside the safe was almost like finding a pirates buried treasure. Two guns, a Winchester 30/30 and a 410 shotgun, paper bills and treasury notes from the pre-prohibition era, a deed to property the family didn’t even know existed and 3 very heavy cloth pouches. Inside those pouches were approximately 800 silver coins most of which were silver dollars. The dates on the coins ranged from the late 1800’s to as late as 1964!

What an absolutely amazing discovery and story for this family to have. It makes you wonder though, why didn’t the grandparents let someone know in the will that this safe was there? How long had the safe even been there? The grandparents went through some pretty elaborate plans to make sure that if someone was smart enough they could find the combination. This is almost like a National Treasure moment. I can only hope I find something like this in my parent’s house!

Clancy's comment: What a discovery, eh?

22 August 2021 - BABY ELEPHANT SAVED BY TRAIN PASSENGERS IN INDIA

BABY ELEPHANT SAVED BY
TRAIN PASSENGERS IN INDIA
G'day folks,
When you aren’t typically surrounded by wild animals, you don’t think too much about the hazards they probably encounter every day. This can include predators looking for their next meal, humans looking to cash in on their valuable body parts, but what about road hazards?
That’s exactly what happened in this story. This cute little elephant was walking with his herd when he slipped and fell into an embankment under a railroad track in Assam, India. Thankfully, the train came to a halt and dozens of passengers leaped out to help pull him to safety.

The little elephant had been trying to keep up with its herd when it slipped on the crumbling rail track.
Thankfully dozens of passengers stopped to lend a hand as he became submerged in mud. He continued to sink, but they were determined to help. The animal appeared scared at the predicament it faced but, but fortunately the situation was happily resolved. The baby elephant was able to be rescued and reunited with its herd.

Clancy's comment: A happy end to this story.

21 August 2021 - MASSIVE BUNKER BUILT UNDERGROUND IN SAVANNAH, GEORGIA

MASSIVE BUNKER BUILT
UNDERGROUND IN
SAVANNAH, GEORGIA
G'day folks,
The Cold War era in the United States is like no other time in history. People were fearful every day that this might be it. This may be the day that the United States and the Soviet Union finally go to war.
The outcome of this happening would have been the almost certain and total annihilation of both countries, and possibly most of the world. This threat was a daily reality for hundreds of millions of people living in both countries.
Children in the United States would practice bomb drills in school out of fear that they may be attacked at some point. Although I’m not really sure what hiding under a desk is going to do when nuclear bombs are being detonated. Well this reality was such a big concern for some that they decided to take matters into their own hands. The wealthier in America had the luxury of building a highly technologically sophisticated, multi million dollar bunker that would actually provide shelter and security if The Cold War ever escalated to actually all out war. Well if you’re still in the market for a perfectly usable and functional underground bunker, the seller of this multi million dollar bunker may have something for you!
This is the property, located in Savannah, GA. As you can see, it is situated on a pretty big piece of land that looks to be far away from any major population centers.
The bunker was built-in 1969 at the height of The Cold War, and is located 45 feet underground. The bunker has two different levels. The top level is entirely composed of apartments, while the other contains the common areas.
The bunker was actually originally built for military training purposes. It has since been repurposed into a luxury underground living space. These are the living quarters. At about 600 square feet, they’re quite spacious for being underground.
Chris Salamone, co-owner of Bastion Holdings the company selling the bunker, said it “offers the ultimate safe haven for any family, business or government that wants the ultimate in security and comfort.” This bunker has the ability to withstand a 20 kiloton nuclear blast, terrorist attacks and civil disturbances. I can’t imagine being down there, knowing the world was burning above you.The property also includes air intake systems and a nursing station. Whoever remodelled this place really did everything they could to bring this place up to date. The fact that this place has $100k invest into just the CCTV system shows you that they did not skimp on an inch of this place. Whoever does end up as the owner of this multi-million dollar bunker is gonna feel secure no matter what happens to the world outside.

Clancy's comment: I'd go crazy without windows. What about you? Looks like a guesthouse for secret agents.
