Do you know how to write ‘first person plural’ stories?

Have you ever read (or written) a story told in ‘first person plural’, which is where verbs are told with the personal pronoun ‘we’?

It’s an incredibly tricky POV (point of view) to master but I’ve done it! My ‘first person plural’ short story Our Something Said has been accepted for publication in the UK anthology You, Me & a Bit of We (Chuffed Buff Books). The anthology is a celebration of writing in the first and second person, and I’m chuffed to be a part of it!!

Author interviews will commence shortly, the anthology will be published later this month, and it’s available for pre-order now! Yay!

***

Why aren’t editors accepting my stories? What’s the ‘secret poet’ of my narrative voice? What’s contrived or false suspense? How do I write engaging characters that will draw readers into my story? How do I find my ‘voice’?

Come on my “Writing Safari: The Big Five” workshop to discover essential tips, secret tricks & more! I’ll deconstruct, improve and stimulate the way you write…

7 September 2013 – Book now!

23 November 2013 & 11 January 2014 – Enrolments open late-2013. Can’t wait? Just send me a message and I’ll pop you on the list!

Author’s Notes:

Here’s my desk. I bought it for ten dollars at a clearance auction of an old CES office 15 years ago. The chair was five dollars at the same auction and the upholstery is now held together with duct tape. I love drinking coffee and eating nuts at various times during my writing day. As you can see I’m not a tidy person, but I do go on a cleaning up rampage every now and then, usually before the start of a new project.

Author Notes:

I don’t really have a writing space at home that I use – I usually write at the library. In Sydney, I like the Mitchell and Fisher. We’ve just got back from New York where I wrote mostly at the Avery Library of Art and Architecture. I didn’t take any pictures of it unfortunately but there’s one here (above). It is pretty special. I miss it!
