Almost There

I'm so excited that I can't seem to contain it. My new book, The Fat Girls Club is soon to debut. The e-book is almost complete in terms of formatting. The hard copy will be released next month.
It has been a long time coming. To see the characters move from my head, to the page to print is a dream come true.
This current book has been so fun to write and I hope that you, the readers, will enjoy meeting my new characters.

So to all my readers that supported my previous work, "Thank you." And believe it or not, for those that criticized it I still say "Thank you," because for every comment, I learn, I grow and become a better writer because of it all.

Finally!

I can't believe it's all over. My new book, The Fat Girls Club is finished. After numerous revisions, countless readings, several sleepless nights, it's all over.
With the help of my editor, for three days, we read each chapter and every line of the book aloud.
The story is now in the process of formatting and afterward, another reading before completion.
Each step is exciting, placing the story that much closer in the hands of my readers.
Although writing is a lonely business, it's an exciting one as your characters come to life telling the secrets of your heart.
I look forward to sharing those secrets soon.

Saying Goodbye

As I tie up loose ends to my new book, the excitement mounts to the day that it will make its debut.
In the course of that excitement, I received some sad news. My first editor, Charli Coon, died earlier this week. She assisted with my first book, You Need Love Like I Do and partially with my new book.
Her death did not come as a surprise to some because she had battled poor health for some time. She and I became connected through my sister, working together through email, snail mail and once on the telephone.
Charli was a great asset and will be missed. Her death is a reminder of the importance to compliment and thank those who support us in our efforts, as often as possible.
May her spirit rest in peace-Amen.

Writer's and Tea

Last Saturday, January 31st, I had the pleasure of meeting Harlequin romance writer, Muriel Jensen.
Through a chance meeting, her warmth and kindness invited this stranger into her home while she autographed a newspaper clipping that I held in my hands as well as a copy of her latest book, In My Dreams.
Last Saturday we had a proper meeting as we sat down to tea, homemade bread and cookies. I also had the pleasure of meeting her husband, Roy, a joy indeed.
Muriel has such a wit about her, and I truly enjoyed the time we spent together.
To see a person that you admire on a personal level, reminds me of the Wizard of Oz when Toto pulls back the curtain to reveal the Wizard. In this case, Muriel is the real deal. Warm, witty and a joy to be around.
I will always treasure our Saturday tea and the lessons I learned from this grand lady. Many heartfelt thanks to you Muriel Jensen and the best to you always.

Shakin' Off the Dust

Howdy and welcome to my blog. Forgive my language but I've just returned from celebrating my birthday at Wilson Ranch and Retreat in Fossil, Oregon. There are two things I look forward to during the New Year; a month long celebration of my birthday and trying to find unique places to visit or things to do to usher in another year.
In the process of traveling, I love meeting people, getting to know their stories or seeking out what makes a town, city or country so special. I take all that information and turn it into stories.
Although I've never married because I was never asked, that doesn't stop me from believing in love and celebrating its power.
I look forward to sharing my adventures and talking to readers about books we have in common and ones that I "should read."
Here's to a fun filled year and new friendships. Welcome aboard!
